According to AMZ, these are the file types that can be converted:Microsoft Word (.DOC, .DOCX)
HTML (.HTML, .HTM)
RTF (.RTF)
Text (.TXT)
JPEG (.JPEG, .JPG)
Kindle Format (.MOBI, .AZW)
GIF (.GIF)
PNG (.PNG)
BMP (.BMP)
PDF (.PDF)
I think the limit is 25 attachments per email (to your special Kindle email address). I don't recall any commitment on how fast any of this will get done.
For example, I had 6 books in mobi format that I decided to email to my Kindle, although without the convert in the subject line. When they didn't show up quickly, I did the live chat bit and found that there was a minimum wait of 4-6 hours per book. Eventually they showed up.
Realistically, I have had much better results (with immediate read-on-Kindle access) by converting the non-mobi files to mobi (there's a free program called Calibre that does that marvelously well). Then just hooking my Kindle up to my computer with a USB cable, and treat it as an external drive and just transfer the files to it.
Just a thought or three.

Sometimes it just disappears when you send multiple books on your Kindle email in one email. Its better to send one by one and see if they are loading in your Kindle. This happens to me too when I load multiple books in one email and send it to my kindle address
I'd also suggest Calibre- it's an easy way to transfer books between devices, and it will convert most formats.
My method of transferring MOBI files is by (1) connecting the Kindle to my laptop via the usb cord and (2) then drag and drop the file into the Books folder. (3) I then disconnect the devices. (4) Afterwards I use an app called ES File Explorer to access/open the MOBI file. The book just shows on my Kindle 's carousel and the Books section after doing this once; I don't have to use the file explorer app again to open the file.I've only done this with MOBI files and some music files.
I use a Kindle Fire HD 1st generation.
I hope that helps.

Now I know there's an app for that.
Have you tried the "Send To Kindle" app for Mac? Here is the link.http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html...
