When it was discovered that Upchurch was sexually molesting the boys, it appeared he’d get away with it as none of the families wanted the notoriety associated with their sons. How remarkable was it that Percy’s grandmother took the actions she did with her church members?

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments It was remarkable. Mrs. Evans was a formidable woman and the fact that she really had nothing to lose gave her the power to stand up for what was right.

I was shocked that she made the decision. It might have been easier for a grandmother than the mother but it was still very brave of Mrs. Evans. Turned out well.

Phrynne | 607 comments I thought she was amazing. It was such a smart solution to their problem too.
