Martha Meyer | 2 comments I have read Hild by Nicola Griffith (11/2013) -- beautiful, and full of surprises, a true joy to read. Highly recommend. I read Invisible Ellen by the actress Shari Shattuck about an obese, formerly abused custodian who unwittingly becomes a hero. I am hoping to start The Care and Management of Lies by Jacqueline Winspear soon!

Eva Johnson (eva_weil) | 2 comments I'm currently reading The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. I'm loving it so far!

Jillian (jilliemae) | 35 comments I just read "The House of Small Shadows" by Adam Nevill, mainly because I read a few reviews that said it was a terrifying horror novel. I wouldn't call it terrifying, but it has a Gothic feel and some lighter mystery that some readers may find appealing. The second half of the book was much more suspenseful than the first half, and it was almost written in the style of a teen novel; simplistic writing and not a ton of description. For hardcore horror fans, I probably wouldn't recommend it.

Emily | 8 comments I'm reading The Great Bridge: The Epic Story of the Building of the Brooklyn Bridge by David McCullough. It's pretty weighty with lots and lots of detail on the planning and the construction of the bridge. For fiction, I'm reading Me Before You by Jojo Moyes, which is a fast-paced read perfect for the end of summer.

Emily, we've been recommending Me Before You by Moyes all summer long! There seems to be an overall consensus thus far that it's a patron summer favorite. In case you don't know yet, we have her new book on order if you haven't placed a hold yet.
