Sharp Objects on HBO

Gillian Flynn's Sharp Objects has been made into an 8-episode miniseries premiering on HBO this Sunday, July 8th (in the USA).

It's been a while since I've read it- I think a couple years, but I remember how delightfully creepy and dark this was. It's been long enough I don't remember all the details- which I think will be better for enjoying the show. Amy Adams is the lead role, who I love so I'm pretty excited for this.

Early reviews have been mixed. Washington Post said it will be the "show of the summer". CNN said it's a wannabe Big Little Lies- but that's just their opinion. I absolutely loved Big Little Lies, so I have confidence I will enjoy this.

Oh, shoot! I saw an ad for it on tv recently, but thought it was for a movie theatre movie, not HBO. I wanted to see it. Guess I won't unless it ends up on Netflix at some point. :-(

I'm tempted because I like Amy Adams too. And I actually liked the book just fine. But it's baseball season, so who am I kidding? I might save it for the winter.

This does look good, and I haven’t read the book so my view is uncoloured by it. I’ve seen so many ads. Will have to check if it’s on the NZ version of HBO when I get home.

I’m looking forward to watching it. I’m going to attempt to find the time to watch the first one tomorrow night. It airs at 11am but I’m guessing it won’t be kid friendly. 😜

I tried to watch the first episode last night, and fell asleep.

I think this is a testament to how tired I was, and not the quality of the show though, will try again soon.
