This is one of my favourite series, you're in for a treat!
I loved a monster calls too, ilona. patrick ness is one of my favourite authors :)

I have so far read the first three chapters (view spoiler)[ up until Ted leaves (hide spoiler)] and am intrigued but also slightly annoyed by the language.
Probably because English is not my native language, I sometimes have to say words out loud to understand which word is meant.

I’ve finished the book! I’m so excited to read the second installment next month. Dystopian novels aren’t really my thing but I enjoyed this one very much! Ilona, I felt annoyed by the alternate spellings as well. I can’t wait to hear what you guys think about the book!

I just finished it, and wow, what a story. I probably need some time to gather my thoughts. Can't wait to read the next one!
