An Inspector Calls and Macbeth. Dark themes and murder... very good quality for reading, but to study and write a bunch of essays?
Supposed to do Jerkyll and Hyde this year but now exams are cancelled so my copy goes untouched.
Exams cancelled: so AIC and Macbeth quotes that haunt me the whole year gets wasted too... (:/
oh yeah we did An Inspector Calls during the first term this year, and we're doing A Christmas Carol to replace Jekyll and Hyde, and Romeo and Juliet to replace Macbeth because apparently they're easier, but I'd rather not because the other two are more interesting
Which poetry anthology were you doing?We're doing Power and Conflict, but we've only looked at Ozymandius, London, War Photographer and Remains
You doing AQA? I'm on Eduquas with entirely different poems, but there are overlaps in London and Ozymandias.

But A Christmas Carol is a good one, less bleak, you know. And Macbeth is pretty creepy sometimes, and harder (though we might argue that's why it's intriguing). But anyway, best of luck!

Did it a bit in lesson two years ago. And we were discussing if that is really 'love' or not? Or is it just...you know, Juliet knowing she *shouldn't* like Romeo...and that's why she does it? She just met him not longer than she met Paris. Is it just courtly love and social expectations? It's pretty interesting to think about, but of course when we just read it, the overall themes are love and that 'love' really is very important and romantic to the story.
Sorry I'm just getting excited and can't stop writing! ANyway, ignore it if you want. Not turning this into an academic discussion lol
I found AIC to be way more interesting, especially the ending, when you think was the inspector a hoax? A supernatural figure? Does he represent their conscience?
