Marty's dream that she was having reflected what happened in the first book after her husband Clem died. when she was all alone is my thought. Clark and marty Seem to be a big comfort to eachother after both of them losing their spouses. Clark seemed to care about Marty how he asked her if she wanted to talk about her dream. He also seemed to care about her after barely knowing her in the first book.
