This was a pre-gr read for me but I have vivid memories of it: the characters, the time, the atmosphere, the dialect, but most of all, the capturing of Janey's unique view of the world in striking prose.
Encouraging folks to read them: Samadrita's review is such a FEAST and props to Aubrey for her acute underlining of the book's present relevance
I was hanging out with this friend of mine tonight who I hadn't seen for a few years and she was like "Dude, you read sortof a weird amount of books so I can't really keep up on FB, but anything stand out for you over the past...years?" and I was like "Yeah, Their Eyes Were Watching God."https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

"...Janie seeks an ideal love from her teenage years onward but finds disappointment from the day she is essentially given as a bride to a middle aged man. She sees the hard side of womanhood, being a man's possession to do his will, before finding the love of her life with her third husband...."
