What is a the most relatable part of this book/movie?

I can't quote it exactly so I won't try to do so, but the part where Charlie talks about trying to participate. It's not always easy for introverts like myself to be involved in things, even with those we consider to be friends.
When charlie did not want to hurt Mary Elizibeth. Despite the fact that he didn't really have feelings for her, and the fact that their whole relationship revolved mostly around her. Like myself it is hard at times to let go of people because I feel bad in a way, but I know they might seem a bit toxic. I don't really know how to explain this, but that is one way I connected with it.
