The story turned to Mattie Purvis and her scumbag husband. When she was abducted and woke to find herself in a box, what did you think was going on? Did you believe, as she did, that she was being ransomed?

Not for a minute. Her scumbag husband was having an affair and took advantage of Mattie. He didn't care one iota for her and I never figured this was a ransom issue. Of course I had read this book before and little bits kept coming back to me. However, if wasn't until the perp asked specifically about the baby that I connected baby stealing to her abduction.

I didn’t think she was being ransomed either but it took me a bit to figure out the captor’s end game. I think when Maura examined x-rays of the remains of Theresa and Nikki Wells and discovered the info about the baby it started to dawn on me.
