Big Brad Thor fan. Not up to this one yet. Will be soon.

Marian So your reading them in order?

message 53: by [deleted user] (new)

Correct. Just posted my reviews on the Brad Thor thread. Feel free to check it out and share your thoughts on him. Not much happening there.

Sorry you didn't like NYPD Red better but I think you will like the Virgil Flowers series. I'm not sure which I like better, Virgil or Lucas.

message 56: by [deleted user] (new)

I think Lucas will be a tough act to follow. We'll see.

message 57: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, but Virgil does have his charm.

This one is one of my favorites out of the Women's Murder Club. I did like the ones in the beginning better than the later ones, though.

message 59: by [deleted user] (new)

I think I would like to try this series next since I do have the first book.

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 2290 comments I think james Patterson is a great writer

I enjoy his books with Alex Cross. Not sure about the ones that are co-authored. I couldn't finish NYPD Red. I want to try the Women's Murders Club Series.

Carla (carla1957) I just finished Private India (Private, #8) by James Patterson and was not impressed. I have read all the other Private books but this one did not seem to flesh out the characters at all, gave little bits and pieces and I actually figured out who the murderer was and I never do that with his books. Hope the next one gets back on track.

The Postcard Killers by James Patterson

I'm interested in reading The Postcard Killers at some point because Liza Marklund was involved in this book.

I'm not sure I'm a big fan of the books that were co-authored with James Patterson. Thanks for letting me know about this Carla.

I like the Private series, but I didn't care for Private Down Under. I hope I'm not disappointed with Private India. I have set it aside to read later.

Ron, I thought this was a very good book. I'm a big Patterson fan, but some of his books seem like he just skims over things and doesn't get into many details. The Postcard Killers is not like that. It has an international setting and I think it will keep you involved throughout. I hope you decide to read it.

I think I will try it at some point. Thanks.

You're welcome, I hope you like it.

That one was really good, Katherine.

Katherine Decker | 41 comments Really enjoyed NYPD Red 3 and just finished Miracle at Augusta which had a much different feel.

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 2290 comments I like those women's murder club books better

message 74: by [deleted user] (new)

I keep saying that I will read the Women's club books. I have the first one. Someday, I'll read it. Not sure when.

Chris Simon wrote: "I'm a huge fan of his and I love his Private and NYPD Red series !"

I still read him but not as much as I use to. He is whipping them out to fast that they are becoming predictable. His women's murder club books lost their edge along with his Cross books but I have to agree that his Private books are good.

Angel (angeldavis) how do you guys add pics of the books or hightlight stuff on here? lol

message 77: by David (last edited Oct 18, 2015 09:09AM) (new)

David I bought a box of his books at a garage sale for 5 bucks, and nearly regret having read them. Easy reads, not all that well written, to me like the 6th grade level. I did like Along Came a SPider and Kiss the Girls, the rest, I give a two rating and several a one. And never, never read one of his co-author books, even worse in my opinion. Books cheat on pages, short chapters leaving empty space, and blank pages between chapters.....it's just a business for him.

Angel, did anyone ever answer your questions?

Kirsten (kmcripn) I still read Patterson occasionally. He's not a terribly complex author, but he does write a well paced potboiler.
