"I hope so, make it easier anyways. Did they said they had to fix something on your wing too, or just did the operation on your ribs?" Hailey asked, sitting up a little bit and pushing some of her hair out of her face.

Nick shook his head. “They didn’t say. They knocked me out cause I didn’t willingly go with them.” He mumbled. “I woke up with the thing on my neck. I don’t know what else though. They were testing the collar so I was distracted.”

Hailey frowned a bit, sitting up more."Lie on your stomach, let me see your back." She shifted so she was almost off the cot to give Nick enough room to lie down. These things weren't exactly built to have two people on them but, hey, they'd been managing okay. Though they were both fairly small people, Nick was just tall, but he was skinny enough.

Nick nodded. He shifted and laid on his back, using one arm.as a pillow while keeping his other arm loosely around her. “I can still fly as far as I know. Should be fine.” He mumbled, staying still. He closed his eyes for a moment while she checked out his back.

Hailey lifted up his shirt most of the way to see what was going on back there. Lo and behold, she saw a small indent in his back where it looked like something was just bellow the skin."They did a smaller cut then mine, looks like they just put the tracking chip in there, didn't mess around with anything else."

Nick nodded. “Hmm. Good to know.” He mumbled. “Whatever we do, we’re gonna have to get out of here soon.. they’ll be onto us.” He turned his head and glanced at her.

"Yeah. Maybe Brandie could help? She is a nursing student she said. Maybe she would have access to everything we need to get them all out," Hailey replied, touching the spot where the little lump was on Nick's back before pulling his shirt back down.

Nick nodded. "Hopefully yeah." He agreed. Once she'd fixed his shirt, he turned back on his side so she wouldn't have to be laying on the edge of the bed. He wrapped his arms around her and hugged her close.

Hailey nodded, lying back down once Nick's shirt was back on. She let him pull her close, smiling a bit as she snuggled back into his chest and draped her arm gently around him.

Nick snuggled close to her. "You can go back to sleep love." He reassured quietly. "I can stay awake if that'll be more comforting for you so you know I'll be keeping watch." He offered, worried about her.

"It's okay. I'm not really all that sleepy," Hailey replied, looking up at him. And she wasn't. She had slept more than enough already, especially since she was use to only getting 4 or 5 hours a night.

Nick nodded. "Fair enough. You slept a lot." He agreed faintly. He didn't want any more sleep either but he wasn't really sure what to do. He didn't know how to get them out of there or anything.

"Yeah I did," Hailey said with a small smile, staying snuggling with with him.

2 days later and not much had really changed. Riggs went with Dr. Lee once yesterday and today, he was actually there right now with him. The doors had also been leaving Hailey alone, no one coming in there to say or do anything to her. Currently she was sat on her cot, trying to eat for the first time today at nearly 2 in the afternoon. So far, it seemed to be staying down, though it was just a few crackers with peanut butter on them.

Nick had stayed close by Hailey. He would back off occasionally to let Riggs or the others be around her but he was rarely out of sight from her. They'd been trying to figure out how best to get out but the place seemed pretty secure. He glanced over at the door when he heard it open.

Jess was sitting near Hailey with Kai, both of them chatting with her a bit.

Dr. Wu was the one that stepped in when the door opened, seeing them all in there. She saw Nick first and raised her hands a bit."I'm just here to check on Hailey. Um...she hasn't had a proper check up about the baby yet."

Hailey looked up as well when the doctor came in, glaring a bit at her. She still didn't really trust her, not after what she learned was done to her.

Nick nodded. "You heard what I told you last time. You're not the one I have a problem with." He replied quietly, looking her over. He went close to Hailey and sat by her. There was no way he'd let any of them separate her from Hailey right now.

Jess got up to give them some space.

Dr. Wu was glad that at least Nick seemed to be okay with her. Hailey on the other hand, she wasn't so sure yet. She slowly followed Nick, not going much closer though."Hailey, I just wanna take a look at you, to make sure everything is okay. Can I do that?"

Hailey glared at her as she got closer to her, not wanting her to touch her. She didn't say anything, just continued to stare her down, making the doctor visibly uncomfortable.

Nick watched her warily. “Why does it matter how the baby is? It’s not like they’re gonna make it with you psychos around getting a 17year old pregnant.” He said lowly, not letting them touch Hailey. He knew that Dr. Wu could probably activate his collar but he didn’t far.

"They sent me in here to make sure it was healthy, yes, but I also want to know as well. Because if something it wrong with the baby then it can hurt Hailey too. And I don't want that,"Dr. Wu said with a shake of her head.

"Shocking," Hailey said, that glare still on her face. She saw the hurt in Dr. Wu's eyes though and she really seemed to honestly care for her, not fake care like the other doctors did. She took a second before she sighed."How do you want me?"

Dr. Wu relaxed a bit when Hailey agreed, pointing to the bed."Just lay down sweetie." And Hailey did as instructed, lying on her back.

Nick frowned. He stayed sitting on the edge of the bed where he could hold Hailey’s hand and keep a close eye on Dr. Wu. He was a bit grateful that they weren’t trying to take Hailey from the room but he still didn’t trust her.

Dr. Wu opened up the bag that she had brought in with her and started checking very basic stuff like her temperature, her heart rate, her blood pressure, everything that gets checked when you go to the doctors. Then she put those things away and looked at Hailey."So what I wanna do is an ultrasound, this way I can heart the baby's heart rate and make sure everything is good. Now, I can either do a vaginal one here with you or, if you're not comfortable with that, we can go down the hall to my examination room, and do one on your tummy in there."

"I don't wanna leave the Birdcage," Hailey replied with away. Then again, she also didn't want to be examined like that, but she was also curious is she was actually pregnant. Like, she wanted some sort of confirmation rather than just her sickness and missed period.

He watched carefully as they checked everything. Nick glanced to Hailey. “You’re not taking her anywhere without me.” He told Dr Wu before Hailey could respond about not wanting to leave the birdcage. He wouldn’t mind them leaving there but they had to be together. He was honesty scared to be separated from her though bed never admit it.

Dr. Wu looked at the both of them when they responded, nodding a bit."Okay so I can do the one here. Hailey, would you like...everyone to step out? From some privacy while I do this?"

Hailey looked over at the other two in the room and, while she did trust them, she didn't quite trust them that much."Nick can stay."

"Okay," Dr. Wu looked over to where Jess and Kai were,"Would you two mind taking a step outside for a few minutes?"

Jess nodded. “Yeah of course.” She glanced to them to make sure they were okay before heading out of the room with Kai to wait.

Nick glanced to the door when the others left. A part of him thought about grabbing Dr. Wu, using her to help get them out. But he figured she wouldn’t go for it. He rubbed Hailey’s hand gently. “You’ll be able to hear a heartbeat already?” He questioned faintly.

"Thank you," Dr. Wu said to them and started getting her stuff out, looking at Nick when he asked that,"Yes, it's much easier to detect with a vaginal ultrasound. Not a lot of pictures really since it's so small, but I'll be able to hear a heartbeat." She pulled out a few things then; a small monitor that had rod like object attached as well as a bottle of gel.

"I thought you need, like, a big machine," Hailey said, seeing the objects.

"Typically yes, but they've, um, developed these here at the lab to make it easier," Dr. Wu explained.

Nick frowned at how she phrased that. It sounded like they were going to be conducting similar experiments then if they decided to develop more specialized equipment. “You realize how fucked up this is right? Not just that you’ve got special equipment for checking out stuff like this but the whole thing in general?” He questioned lowly, turning so his lips couldn’t really be seen by the cameras.

Dr. Wu heard his words and tensed up a little bit, but she relaxed after a moment."Yes Nick, I do understand how wrong it is. I am...not happy that they did what they did to Hailey. But if I let them know this, then they wouldn't let me in here."

Hailey listened to her, seeing that she was doing the same kinda thing Riggs was, playing on the inside maybe. Would she maybe help them then?

Nick glared a bit. “fair enough. But You’re the one with some power here. You could help us get out ya know.” He told her, keeping his voice low and quiet while avoiding the cameras to be extra safe. He was taking a big risk but they’d need help to get out so he had to take a shot. He’d take the fall for it too if needed.

Dr. Wu listened to him, not nodding or shaking her head or anything, just continued to get the device set up."I've been thinking about that and I want to help...but I don't know how. I'm not sure what you want me to do, or what I can do."

Nick stayed close to Hailey. “well. There’s a bit you can do. Get rid of my collar or at least instructions how to disable it and remove it, the trackers in us are a problem for sure, and well, I’m sure you know the way out and could get us closer to an exterior door we could get through without being chased by erasers.” He mumbled lowly.

Dr. Wu listened to his words, thinking about that. The collar was a tricky part."Nick your tracker will be easy to take out, it's not that far under the skin. Hailey, yours will be more difficult and I would need more time, but I can do it. The others....I'm not sure if they can be removed. They were implanted in them when they were babies. And if they can be removed, it would take a full blown surgery for me to remove them."

Hailey listened, that answering her question of if the others had a tracker. Dammit, why did it have to be so hard to get theirs out?!"Do you think....Jess might be able to short them out?"

Dr. Wu thought about that possibility, biting her lip."Probably, but that might harm them in the process because of the electrical shock."

Nick watched her for a moment. “Is there any other way to disable them? Or mess up so they ping inaccurately?” He asked, noticing how she avoided the question about his collar.

Dr. Wu thought about that for a little bit, nodding her head a little bit."We do have a main control that all of the trackers are programmed to. Just shutting it off or destroying the large part of it won't work though since there's a lot of smaller things inside of it that they can use to reactivate it. The entire machine would need to be destroyed and, even then, I can't guarantee the lead scientists like Dr. Lee doesn't have some sort of backup somewhere."

Nick nodded. “Destroying it still gives us a shot though. It’ll give us time to figure out some way to disable or get them out.” He commented quietly, rubbing Hailey’s hand. “Is it located here?” He asked.

"Yes, I know where it is," Dr. Wu replied, realizing they had been standing here talking for a little bit long and she cleared her throat,"I'll figure out what I can do with it." She moved a bit and moved Hailey's legs so they were bents."I'm going to take off your undergarment and put a blanket over you okay?"

Hailey nodded, biting her lip and allowing Dr. Wu to do just that, her putting a thin blanket across her legs so she could hike her dress up pretty far."Just keep your legs bent."

Nick kept rubbing Hailey’s hand. He watched dr Wu warily, making sure she only did what she said and not anything else. He glanced to Hailey. “You alright?” He questioned faintly.

Hailey looked at Nick when he asked that and nodded her head."Yeah, I'm fine."

Dr. Wu took a moment to get the rest set up and put some gloves on."Okay Hailey, I'm going to insert this so I can get a read on the heartbeat, okay? It's going to be cold, just let me know if you want me to stop."

Hailey nodded, tensing up when she realized what was going to happen. She wasn't particularly looking forward to it either. She did let her proceed though, not telling her to stop at any point, she just tightened her grip on Nick's hand.

Nick rubbed Hailey's hand gently, offering what reassurances he could to her as Dr. Wu did the exam. His thoughts wandered a bit as he plotted on how best to get them out of there. They couldn't wait forever to try, it'd have to be soon. Especially with recent events.

Hailey allowed Dr. Wu to go through with her examination, trying her best to not pay attention to what was happening. It wasn't long before Dr. Wu moved the monitor over a little bit so it was in view of Nick and Hailey."It's a little hard to see, but that small dot right there? That's the baby. And if you listen, you can hear it's heartbeat."

Hailey looked at the screen when it was moved over, right away seeing the small dot of the human that was growing inside of her. And she could hear the heartbeat as well. So she was actually pregnant...wow.

Nick glanced at the monitor. He listened to the heartbeat, staring at the dot. It was weird, but kinda cool to be able to hear it so early and realize that that would actually eventually be a kid. He glanced back to Hailey. "Kinda weird.." He commented faintly.

"It's really fucking weird...," Hailey replied as she was looking at it and listening to it. She examined it a little bit, pointing."What's that?"

Dr. Wu looked at the monitor and where she was pointing."That's called a yolk sac. It basically is what provides the baby nutrients while it's developing inside of you."

"Huh," Hailey said, trailing off a bit as she continued to look at the screen.

Nick studied it a bit more, nodding slightly to Hailey. He had lots of questions but didn't bother asking them since Dr. Wu didn't have much part in causing this. He glanced back to Dr. Wu. "Okay, have you checked enough so you can stop poking around down there?" He asked quietly.

Dr. Wu looked at Nick when he said this, looking at Hailey."Are you done looking, would you like me to stop?"

Hailey looked away from the monitor and back at Dr. Wu and she just nodded."Yeah if you got what you need, I'm done." Dr. Wu removed her instrument, quickly cleaned up the gel and got Hailey fully clothed once again. Hailey sat up once she was finished, feeling a bit uncomfortable from what had been done, but Dr. Wu had needed to give a look she supposed. And know she knew she was without a doubt pregnant.

"The baby's heart rate looked fine. It's hard to tell how they're doing with the developmental stage so early, but it looked like it was going well," Dr. Wu told them as she started putting her stuff back.

Nick stayed close by Hailey while Dr. Wu got her cleaned up so she could settle down again. "You're gonna help us get out of here, soon. Okay?" He mumbled quietly. "We've all got abilities that can probably help."

Dr. Wu listened to him, not looking at him as she put her stuff away however."What are you gonna do about the baby? They won't harm Hailey knowing that she's pregnant, but what about delivering it?"

"We're gonna sort that out. But if she's here when that happens, they're gonna take it from us. Not to mention the fact that you are all freaking psycho." Nick said quietly. He didn't mention that he and Hailey weren't all that sure about keeping it or anything.
