Riggs took a deep breath and let it out slowly, shrugging his shoulders."I don't know. I just feel...cheated. And hurt. I thought these people were taking care of us and...now I just think their plan was to use us all along."

Kai nodded. “We’re all feeing a bit of that. They said we were special And they were protecting and helping us here though That’s not really true.” He commented softly. “But I think that Hailey actually want to help us.”

Riggs nodded his head."I know she does...She wouldn't just leave us here like that, I know it. But I'm serious Kai." He turned his head to look at his friend."I'm gonna try to get out of here with you guys, but if something happens and I can't, you need to leave with them."

Kai frowned and shook his head. “That’s reasonable but we should definitely go together. I don’t want you to be left alone. I imagine they’d hurt you or things would get bad.” He commented. He wanted Riggs to be focused on escaping with them.

"I know, I'm just saying. If I can't, you guys need to go with them," Riggs replied again, adjusting a little bit on his cot and he sighed heavily. Part of him didn't even want to leave, but he also knew that he needed to. This place wasn't good he just...wished that it was.

Kai nodded. “That’s fair.” He agreed quietly. He stayed sitting near him. “They survived out there for a while. That bodes well at least.” He mumbled. He glanced to the others. “I’ll let you rest.’

"Yeah, they lasted a long time," Riggs agreed, nodding his head at Kai's words."Okay, thanks." He took a deep breath and let it out slowly, shutting his eyes. It wasn't even night time, but today had been a day and he was so tired.

Kai nodded. He got up after a moment and headed back to his own cot. He figured they’d deal with making a plan in a bit and that Jess would let him know if she needed or wanted his help.

Hailey adjusted herself on her cot, coming out of sleep that she actually didn't mean to drift into. Opening her eyes, she noticed right away just how dark it was. Huh, when did that happen? Last thing she remembered was it being light. And she was still even dressed in her clothes. Yawning, she rubbed her eyes and looked around.

Nick had dozed off for a bit with her during the day, snuggled close on the small cot. He’d gotten up a bit ago though, sitting instead on the ground near Hailey and studying the birdcage. He looked to her when she yawned. “Hi love.” He murmured, taking her hand.

Hailey looked at Nick when he spoke, relaxing a little bit. She shouldn't really be surprised that he was still awake though and she took his hand back."Hey. How long was I asleep?" Judging from how everyone else was asleep and it seemed to be the dead of night, she had been out for quite some time.

“Hmm. Probably 8ish hours? I fell asleep a bit after you did. But the others have been asleep for a while.” He mumbled softly. Nick shifted and sat on the edge of the cot to be closer to her.

Hailey raised an eyebrow at his words. 8 hours? Wow, that was a lot of hours for her. Guess she must've needed them. Well, she had to take into an account that a small human was inside of her body so that might be effecting that..."You can lay with me if you want."

Nick nodded. He shifted and gently wrapped an arm around her as he laid down. “I didn’t think you’d be out that long. But I’m glad you got some rest..” he commented softly before kissing her cheek.

Hailey adjusted slightly when Nick laid down with her, snuggling into his chest a bit."I didn't either, been a long time since I slept that good."

Nick nodded. “Yeah. Your body is probably exhausted. Between everything they’ve been doing and all that.” He mumbled faintly to her. He rubbed her back gently. “This’ll be okay though.”

Hailey nodded a bit, liking how he was rubbing her back. It felt nice, especially in between her wings. She bit her lip gently and glanced back at him."Do you think there's a way we can...get rid of it? You know....make it so it won't be born?"

Nick shrugged. “I mean I’m sure it’s possible once we’re out of here. Is that what you would want to do?” He asked softly as he kept rubbing her back. He would let her choose and support whatever she wanted to do, knowing this situation was all fucked up. But they were practically parents to the rest of the flock anyways so he didn’t see it as being super challenging except for the fact of all the dangers and everything. “You’d be a good mom though..”

Hailey looked at him when he asked that, biting her lip roughly. She didn't know what she wanted. She hated how this had been done, she wasn't against having kids, but she wanted it to be on her terms. Her decision, not like this...But it had happened anyways so what was the right thing to do? Have the baby, or get rid of it?"What do you think?"

Nick shrugged. “I don’t know honestly. I know this was certainly nothing we ever talked about or planned on though. And they probably aren’t gonna relent with coming after it unless we take out the school...” he mumbled, staying close to her. He kept rubbing her back gently.

She paused to try and convey what she was feeling."I wish it didn't happen, I wish they didn't do that. But when I think about getting rid of it I feel...icky. I feel wrong."

Nick nodded slightly as he listened to her explain. He shifted and put one of his hands over hers on her stomach. "That makes sense love. They forced this on you without any sort of choice in the matter. But we don't have to get rid of it if that feels wrong. We will escape and get away, maybe to another country even. And by that point, things may be different for us to where it'd be okay. Not planned like how either of us probably would've wanted but that's okay too." He reassured. "We've protected our whole flock. I'm sure we can handle one more."

Hailey let him put his hand over hers, taking a deep breath again. At least he understood where she was coming from and she knew that having another Flock member wouldn't be a big deal. But a baby? That she would need to give birth to? That's what scared her the most, cause at least at the School she took care of the younger ones when they were pretty much babies under a roof. Now, a home wasn't a guarantee for them. Plus the birthing...she wouldn't feel comfortable going to a hospital where there was a chance of the School getting them again, so she would have to do it at home...Oh boy...

Nick kept rubbing her back gently with his free hand. "We can figure out what to do with this later. Once we're out of here we can figure out what will be best and how to handle it. Either way, I'm with you 100%." Nick promised, pressing a kiss to her cheek.

"Shut up," Hailey replied back, chuckling softly. She snuggled closer to him, putting her forehead onto his chest and relaxing a bit more. She loved him, she really did. And she was very glad that he was back and hadn't stayed gone.

Nick snuggled closer to her. "We would've gotten back to you sooner. Couldn't hurry more than we did though with Mason. I hope he's adjusting alright." He commented faintly, unsure if he'd filled her in about that or not.

"It's alright, you got back as quick as you could,"Hailey replied, remembering him mentioning Mason and how he had been tortured by the School,"What exactly happened to the guy? Did he tell you?"

Nick nodded, rubbing her back. "He told us some. But looking was enough. They had him chained down. Bloody and skinny." He mumbled. "He was so scared. Like almost more than Zar had been."

Hailey winced at the words, only having caught a glimpse of the guy before she had been taken. She could only imagine what he had gone through. She hoped that he was getting only well with the rest of the Flock and they were treating him well."I can't wait to get out and meet him. And, well, get back to everyone else of course."

Nick nodded slightly. "Yeah, me too. I'm worried about them all. But I'm sure they've got it under control between them all." He assured softly, holding her close. "I don't think we'll all be able to stay with Ethan though."

"Yeah, I'm not so sure either. There's too many of us now...," Hailey replied, knowing that the others would be upset about that, especially the little ones. But she would give them all a choice to stay if they wanted to.

Nick nodded. “Maybe we’d be able to find another house or something. Find a place where we could make something big enough for us all. Though I don’t know. I doubt chastity will stay that long.. and we’ve all got different ideas I think.” He explained. He stayed close to her, thinking about the others. “There’s 14 now.. And you and I used to think we were the only ones.”

"Yeah," Hailey said, trailing off a little bit and thinking. It was crazy, this many new people. And she hated the idea of them separated, she wanted everyone to be together, but she wasn't quite sure that would be able to happen. She chuckled softly at his last words."Yeah we did. Surprised the hell outta us when they brought Ace in with us. It was, what, just you and I for 4 or 5 years? Something like that?"

Nick nodded. “And then they let hunt join too. At least they kept us all in pairs for most of our lives it seems. Cause ace and hunt were together. Then ace was moved in with us. Then hunt. Kinda makes me wonder how many more more are in other facilities too. Or why we all ended up together. You and I, I get, cause we were like prototypes I guess. But I don’t know about everyone else.” He rambled faintly, thinking out loud. “do you think any others have escaped?”

"Yeah, I dunno. There's probably a lot of us I would imagine. Not exactly a lot of bird kids but there has to be a lot of experiments out there," Hailey replied, scratching her cheek a bit,"I don't know. It seems like there are few and far in between that actually get out. Our Flock is the only ones I've known of that have gotten out by ourselves."

Nick nodded. “Wonder if we could find them.” He suggested before shaking his head. He knew looking for others would put them all at more risk. He kept rubbing Hailey’s back for a bit, pausing when he thought something felt odd on her shoulder blade.

"It would be a stretch, that's for sure," Hailey replied with a sigh, thinking about it for a moment. She had no idea just how many Institutes and Schools there were around the world. She had always through there was just one, where they were. But that, obviously, was not the case. She glanced behind herself when Nick stopped rubbing her back."What?"

Nick shrugged. “Yeah. But might be worth a shot.” He mumbled. He poked at the spot. “Is this the wing you messed up?” He asked softly. “There’s a weird bump there. I don’t know.”

Hailey felt the spot that he poked at, wincing a little from the pressure she felt there."Yeah, that's the one they said they operated on, that the bone was messed up." She thought for a moment though and frowned,"Dr. Wu said she implanted a tracking chip in me...That's probably where she put it."

Nick frowned. “Huh. Okay. We’ll have to get that out at some point.” He mumbled. “At least they told you. that’s good to know. Think any of our flock has them too?” He commented, wondering if that was how they were being found no matter where they went.

"I'm not sure, it's a possibility. They probably put one in you too," Hailey replied, looking over at the other 3 sleeping,"They probably have them too, and much older ones then ours. We can probably get outs out easy, I'm not sure about them though."

Nick nodded. “Yeah. We’ll figure it out.” He assured. “They in theory would put them all in the same place.” He commented quietly. “We can ask Jess later.”
