Dr. Wu finished with his arms before moving to his torso, seeing the bruising there and frowning."What happened to you here?" She touched the spot on his ribs that looked like it was the worse, she touched it gently mind you, not wanting to hurt him.

Even if she wasn’t the one that brought him in, she was still one of them.

She touched the area lightly a few more times, feeling how it was so tender and already beginning to swell."Does it hurt more when it touch you here or over here?" She touched pretty much right in the middle of the bruise and then moved over a few inches where the bruise was less intense, but still there."And does it hurt when you breath in or out?"
(Lol. Okay)Nick cursed a bit at her. “Middle. And a bit. But it’s fine. It’ll heal soon enough.” He answered after he’d taken a breath and she stopped poking at him. He took a slight step back so she hopefully wouldn’t touch him again.

Dr. Wu let him move back when he did and sighed a bit."Nick I think you have a broken rib. I gotta take you into the room to get an x-ray, it looks like it might be pretty serious." He hadn't gotten into the fight too long ago and it was already bruised like that? It had to be bad.
Nick shook his head. “It’s fine. It’ll be healed in like a week.” He mumbled. “It’s not like I’ve never broken a rib before or something..” he assured quietly in hopes that she’d leave him alone.

She didn't want him in pain, any of them...Hailey looked up at Nick and gave his hand a gentle squeeze."You should let her check you out at least."
Nick backed up a bit more at the look on her face. There was no way he was gonna let her near him. The concern had to be faked. There was no reason that they’d care about any of them. At least that was what ran through nick’s mind. “It might be just one cracked rib, not really anything to worry about.” He commented softly to Hailey. “It barely even hurts.”

"Nick...I know you're freaked out, but she needs to look at it. I can go with you if you want," Hailey said with a shrug."I swear, it'll be quick. Just one little x-ray and you can come back in here while I look at it, okay?" Dr. Wu said, trying to convince him. She didn't move towards him though, not wanting to freak him out anymore.
Riggs, who had been talking silently with Kai and Jess, looked up when he heard them arguing. He raised his eyebrows and listened.
“I’ve had broken ribs before. I’m not leaving this room without Hailey and I’m not letting any of you guys put your hands on me any more than I absolutely have to.” Nick replied lowly. “My ribs will heal just fine, just like everything else you guys have done..” Kai watched quietly. “He’s certainly got a temper it seems. He’s even more afraid of them than Hailey was.”

"He sure does," Riggs replied, continuing to watch the interaction from where he was.

"No it's not fucking alright, no one should talk to you like that, you're just trying to help," Riggs replied, sending a small glare in Nick's direction.
Hailey got up off the cot and moved over to Nick, putting a hand on his back."It's okay."
Nick tensed up and glared right back at Riggs, not settling at Hailey’s touch. “That’s what you think, as they keep you locked in a cage.” He snapped lowly. His hands clenched into fists at his side as he watched dr. Wu and Riggs. “They have you brainwashed.”

Nick glared at Riggs, shaking his head slightly. “You’re just as insane as them.” He felt Hailey’s hand in his shirt but didn’t settle, watching the others warily. He wrapped his arms around Hailey and tried to focus on her. He glanced down at her for a moment. “they’re insane. I’m fine. There’s no need for them to touch me for no reason.”

“I trust you Hailey. You know that. But how could you possibly trust them? Do you not remember what they did to us last time? Or what they did to all our flock? Or what they allowed to happen to Zar?” He told her quietly. “Why would I want to take any risks of them separating us when it’s not necessary. It’s not like the infected wound on my leg. My rib will heal.”

I don't know about the other doctors, but I do know about Dr. Wu and she won't hurt you," Hailey said, resting her cheek against his chest gently as to not hurt his ribs,"I'll go with you into the room, okay? Nick shook his head. “I don’t think it’s different based on how I was brought in here.” He mumbled. “They want us trusting them and then they’ll grab the rest of the flock with our help and they’ll hurt them.” He told her, not bothering to keep his voice down. “I’m not gonna let that happen. There’s no need in them messing with me for something that we both know can heal on it’s own.”

They had gotten a bit longer since she hadn't cut them in a while.
“I know that I’m okay love. Trust me more than them. If it hurt that bad or felt off, I’d let them look. But I’m fine.” He assured her gently, slowly relaxing at her touch. Kai got up and came to Riggs and Dr. Wu. “Would you like us to just help you get him inside?” He offered.

"It's all swollen though, it's really red and bruised. Hmmm? I think that's worth a look," Hailey said, lifting her head up so she could look at him, but she did not move away from him,"Just one little look? And then she'll leave you alone.""I'll drag his ass outta here and into the exam room no problem, just let me know when," Riggs replied, watching them. He felt a churning in his stomach watching them like that. He couldn't exactly place what it was, but he didn't like it.
"No no, let's just give them a bit and see if Hailey can convince him to go. If not, I'll offer up bringing it in here. Won't be the best pictures, but it'll be better than nothing. I really think he's more hurt then he's letting us think," Dr. Wu replied.
“That’s just cause it’s fresh. They beat the shit out of me, knocked me out and drugged me or something cause I don’t feel right and then they tossed me in here.” He muttered. “Why not just give it a day or two? If It’s still bothering me then they can look. No point in having them check when nothings wrong. I don’t want them anywhere near me. Or you for that matter.” Kai frowned. “Why are you letting him argue like that and make this difficult?”

Nick shook his head. “No. I don’t want them coming near me or doing anything.” He persisted. He let go of Hailey, going and quickly grabbing his shirt off the bed. He pulled it on as he went back to Hailey, trying to act like he was just fine. “It’s a rib. Not a wound or anything. I can breathe just fine. It’s not gonna cause any harm and besides, there’s nothing they can even do if it is broken. Why waste the time.”

Hailey watched as he went back over to put on his shirt, letting her arms fall to her side and she looked at Dr. Wu, shrugging her shoulders and shaking her head. She tried, he wasn't gonna go.Dr. Wu sighed as well, but nodded."I'm going to go get him some numbing cream for the pain. I'll be right back." She patted Riggs and Kai's arm gently before leaving the Birdcage.
Nick went back near Hailey. He opened his wings and shook them out once dr. Wu had left, making sure they felt fine and that he’d be able to fly without any problems. He closed them up again and silently offered his hand to Hailey. “it just needs a day or two. The bruise will fade and it’ll be fine.”Kai glanced to Riggs once Dr. Wu left. “Probably best not to mess with him. Don’t want Hailey to stop liking us either.

Hailey watched as he opened his wings back up, looking down at his hand. She did take it from him, not able to be mad at him. She understood him not wanting them to touch him, she hadn't wanted them to either when she got here. It was completely understandable. "He's acting like an ass," Riggs replied, frowning as he looked at him. He turned after a second and went over to sit down on his cot.
Nick rubbed her hand gently with his thumb, taking a few slow breaths as he slowly settled down now that the doctor was gone. He stayed close to Hailey. The tension melted from his shoulders and he slumped a bit. Kai shrugged. “He’s probably afraid. I dunno.”

(( Duuuude! Speaking of yelling! Okay I work in a call center now right, I work from home helping people in OH apply for unemployment. This lady called today and she was PISSED! She liked wanted me to do all this stuff that I couldn't do for her and she was talking to me like "I bet you're fresh outta High School and had never had to deal with raising a family before and being broke. Was probably sheltered and never had to fight for nothing. Tell me, what advice do you have for someone whose struggling with money and being able to go to the store and get groceries." And I told her "ma'am, I don't feel comfortable answering that question" and she goes "oh of course you don't! Cause you've had everything handed to you and never had to fight for it!". And then I told her, again, that I couldn't get the thing done that she wanted me to and then she called me a c*nt..... ))
Nick nodded. “I love you too Hailey. So much.” He assured. “Come sit with me for a bit? I can keep watch so you can sleep..” he offered, used to that being their routine. Kai shrugged. “Agreed. But there’s gotta be some reason why he’s acting like that.”
(Ughhhh. People are such a-holes right now. You were doing your job and trying to help but they just flip out. I get it’s a stressful time but that’s crazy >.< ))

After she called me that though I just said "Ma'am, due to your use of profanity, I am now going to end the call. Have a nice day" and hung up LOL ))Hailey smiled, giving his hand a small squeeze. At the mention of watch though, she shook her head."I haven't actually been having anyone keep watch...But you need more sleep then I do Nick, surely. I've gotten a pretty decent nights sleep for the past few days and you haven't I don't think. I can watch over you while you get some rest."
"There probably is. I mean, Hailey acted kinda like that for a few days. Not as bad, but she's chilled out now, as long as it's Dr. Wu taking care of her," Riggs replied with a shrug,"I just think he needs to chill way the hell down."

That’s why I offered.” He murmured softly. He usually would nap for a few hours during the day but usually was up all night keeping watch or working with the flock during the day. He moved and sat down on the cot, looking around the Birdcage as he kept rubbing her hand.
Kai nodded. “Agreed. Maybe he’ll respond a bit better when dr Wu comes back since he appears to have chilled out.”

"I'm just saying maybe you should, you know?" Hailey said, following him over to the cot. She took a seat next to him, keeping hold of his hand and sighing softly. It was a bit late though and she was already feeling a bit tired, having gotten use to having a normal sleep schedule a bit."Hopefully," Riggs replied, looking up when the Birdcage opened up again.
Dr. Wu was there and she took a few steps forward, then thought better of it and she just motioned for Hailey to come over.
Hailey did, letting go of Nick's hand and going over to the doctor, who handed her a bottle, a thing of medicine and a bag as she spoke to her in a low voice.
Nick stayed close to Hailey until the door opened again. He tensed a bit and let Hailey go, watching her as she went over to the doctor and took something from them. He hated seeing Hailey so at ease with them, starting to worry a bit that he wouldn’t be able to convince her to want to leave. It was a random doubt that wasn’t very likely but nick’s mind was all over the place.

She hadn't taken it either when it was given to her.

Hailey sighed and just put down down with the medicine near the chest that was used to store his clothes. She nodded at his words though."I know. Today was the first day that they let me outta here, and I didn't....get a chance to look around too much." She didn't wanna admit that it was because she got distracted by a movie...Sighing, she motioned to her cot."I'm gonna go change." She moved over and grabbed a nightgown from her chest, moving into the bathroom to change.
Nick frowned and nodded. He didn’t like that they’d kept her locked in the birdcage the whole time and she seemed perfectly fine with it. He watched her go. He raised an eyebrow, finally noticing that she was in a dress rather than pants and a top. He shook his head and looked back around the birdcage. He tried to figure out what to do to get them out.

It didn't take Hailey long to change, coming back out in a nightgown that was actually rather short. It was long sleeved, but it didn't even reach her knees."Damn, I didn't think you'd actually wear that thing," Riggs commented from his cot, looking at her with a grin.
Hailey rolled her eyes and flicked her hand, making his pillow hit him."All of my other nightclothes are dirty, ass." She chuckled a bit as she said this, Riggs laughing a bit as well. She put the clothes she had been wearing in the hamper by her bed and returned over to Nick's cot.
Nick glanced at Hailey when she came back, shaking his head at Riggs comment. He didn’t feel jealous exactly but he didn’t like how Hailey seemed so at ease around them. “Get some rest love. I’m gonna keep watch.” He told her gently, getting up. He’d noticed how short the nightgown was too and it was just another thing that felt off. He shook out his wings and took off to check out the birdcage a bit more closely.

Hailey furrowed her eyebrows as him, watching as he took off to look around. She sighed and scratched the back of her head."Okay..." She said this quietly, going back over to her own cot and sitting down, then realized her hair tie was gone."Crap. Jess? Do you have a hair tie?"
Nick flew up to the walls of the birdcage, tapping on them a bit to figure out what they were made of. He flew around, looking for any sort of weaknesses. He didn’t want to wait to get out, not caring that he was exhausted and sore. Jess nodded. “Yeah. I should have one.” She dig through her drawer and found one, bringing it over to Hailey. “You alright?”

Hailey waited for her to come over and she took it with a thanks, tying her hair into a messy sort of bun. At her question, she just nodded."Yeah I'm okay. Why?" She brought her legs up an sat crossed legged in the bed, glancing up at Nick to see what he was doing before looking back at Jess.
“I don’t know. I just. That all earlier with Dr Wu was pretty intense. And you were right in the middle of it.” Jess commented. She handed over the hair tie and watched Hailey for a moment. Nick flew around for a bit longer before perching in one of the trees.
Hailey took his hand when he reached for it, watching as Dr. Wu cleaned up his face."You lost a lot of weight."
Dr. Wu saw that interaction and smiled softly, finishing cleaning up his face. There was only one thing that was still bleeding and she quickly put some ointment on it and bandaged it up. Next was his arms, again she just cleaned any wounds that she saw with the alcohol.
