Kai settled down in his spot and took his stuff, thanking Jess. He didn’t mind whatever Hailey chose to watch since they usually ended up playing a game or something as well. Jess brought Hailey a soda before grabbing a book and sitting down in a chair.

"Thank you," Hailey said, taking the soda from her and opening it. He noticed how close Riggs was sitting to her, and the fact that his arm was around the back of the couch where she was sitting, but she said nothing. Oddly enough, it didn't make her uncomfortable. Weird. She took a sip of her soda and started watching the movie.
Jess read her book for a bit, Barely paying attention to the movie. There was always different things for them to do but she was already tired after the tests and everything.

Hailey was playing pretty close attention to the movie, talking to Riggs or Kai on occasion if she had a question about what was going on, since it had been a while since she had watched it. It was honestly nice doing this...She didn't think she could admit that, but this place really wasn't half bad, like they said. No one had done anything wrong to her, the doctors were actually fairly kind.
Kai chatted easily with her. She fit in with them all pretty well and was finally relaxing into being there. He had been a bit concerned that she was gonna stay super defensive and freaked out for a while.

The time went by fairly quickly and their hour was up, one of the doctors coming in to get them."Don't worry, we can finish watching the movie tomorrow," Riggs said to Hailey, seeing the slight look of disappointment in her face when she realized they needed to be heading back.
"I'm not worried about that," Hailey replied, lying. The movie had been getting really good...
Jess smiled gently at her. “You’ll be able to join us every day. So don’t worry.” She assured. She stood and marked her place in the book before setting it on the shelf. Kai stood and turned off the tv.

Hailey looked at her, trying to act like it didn't bother her, but she laughed a bit after a second."It was just getting really good!" She stood up when everyone else did."It was. But at least now you can come out with us," Riggs said, standing after her and started back down the hallway with the rest of them to the Birdcage once more.
Kai and Jess walked together, chatting a bit as they headed back to the birdcage. Kai opened the door and held it for the others. Nick had been captured a bit after Hailey as he’d been trying to find where they may have taken her. They’d brought him into the birdcage and left him on a cot a bit away from the others. He looked pretty rough, scrapes and bruises all over.

Hailey chatted with them, walking into the Birdcage with the rest of them. She noticed right away something was different then when they had left. There was another cot there a little ways away. And the person on that cot...was Nick?"Nick?" Hailey questioned, really surprised and she didn't move towards him yet.
Riggs noticed it right away as well and he tensed seeing the other dude in there. But Hailey seemed to know him, she said his name. Now that he thought about it, she had told him about the people in her Flock and Nick had been one of the people she had mentioned.
Nick was just starting to come to from them drugging him. He mumbled incoherently when he heard Hailey’s voice, it seeming to relax him slightly from how tense he was. Kai raised an eyebrow when he saw the cot. “Huh. Another one?” He commented a bit warily. He watched as Jess immediately headed over to see who it was and if they were alright.

Hailey pretty much followed right behind Jess, hurrying over and looking down at him. Yeah, that was Nick. And he looked like he got in a fight with an MMA fighter or something."Nick? What the hell are you doing here?" She asked this mostly to herself as she checked out where he was hurt."Nick is the name of one of the guys from her Flock," Riggs said, crossing his arms over his chest and watching as the girls checked him out.
Nick stirred a bit more as Hailey kept talking. “Hailey?” He mumbled hoarsely, forcing himself to open his eyes and look around for her. He saw her and quickly tried to get up despite feeling pretty sore and out of it. Kai nodded. “Yeah. Weird that they already caught another one and brought them in..” he commented.

"Hey hey hey, don't move so much, you're beat the hell up," Hailey told him, putting a hand on his chest so he wouldn't sit up. Or at least, she tried to not make him sit up."Why are you here? What did they do to you?""Yeah, Dr. Wu said they were gonna wait some more time before doing this," Riggs agreed.
Nick sat up but he didn’t stand. He put his hand over Hailey’s, taking a breath. “I’m okay. I’m sorry Hailey. About everything..” he mumbled. “The others are safe. I was just trying to find you. Figured out the phone thingy and it pinged here..” he explained in a faint whisper, staring at her. Kai shrugged. “Guess so. Maybe one a week or something.”

Hailey kept her hand on him as he sat up, trying to stabilize him a little bit at least. She looked back at him, nodding a bit at the explanation. She understood why he was apologizing. The two of them really hadn't talked since he left with Chasity, and that was over 2 weeks ago now."It's okay. Why are you all beat up though? Did you go off on your own?"Riggs watched the interaction between the two of them, seeing how that Nick guy was holding her hand. That made him tense up a bit and shift his weight.
“I Uhh. They grabbed me. I didn’t go down without a fight. You know me.” He mumbled. He kept his hand over hers, reassuring himself she was there. “I never should’ve left. We ended up getting to the institute after you. But they only took you. They let us all go. I don’t know if they tracked me or what..” he mumbled. Kai glanced at Riggs. “What’s all that about?” He said, gesturing to him. “They’re practically family. I don’t know why you’re getting all tense..”

Hailey listened to the explanation, nodding her head a bit after a second and sighing."Jesus....They beat the hella outta you too." She examined his cuts and bruises for a moment longer before pulling him into a gentle hug. She had really, really missed him.Riggs looked at Kai in confusion."What're you talking about? I'm not tense..." He rolled his shoulders a little bit, uncrossing his arms and just putting his hands in his front pockets instead.
Nick hugged her close. “Please don’t ever let me do something as stupid as leaving you again.” He mumbled softly, leaning his head on her shoulder for a moment. He pulled away and looked her over to make sure she was okay. “The others are safe..”Kai shrugged. “You seem bothered. I don’t know..” he said before heading over to his cot.

Are they back at Ethans?""Nope...I'm good," Riggs replied, clearing his throat and going to stand over there were Jess was. He figured he would introduce himself when the two were done talking.
Nick shifted so he could sit with her. He nodded at her question. “We found another hybrid before we got to you as well. No wings. But abilities like yours and Chastity’s combined.” He told her In a faint whisper so nobody would overhear. Kai sat down on his cot and kept some distance from them all.
Jess glanced at Riggs when he came over.

Hailey nodded at his words, looking at Riggs when he came over."Oh Nick, these are um...the people that they put with me for the past week. Over there is Kai, that's Jess and that's Riggs. They'e avian hybrids like us, all with different powers too."Riggs nodded his head at Nick."Good to meet you, Nick isn't it?"
Nick nodded politely to them. “Hello.” He greeted faintly before looking back to Hailey. “The doctors and everything been treating you okay?” He asked worriedly, hating that he hadn’t been there to protect her. Jess nodded. “Nice to meet you.”

"Surprisingly, yeah. Dr. Lee is here, but I havent seen him since the first day I was here," Hailey replied, shrugging. The tests they've been doing on her have been simple as well, not the horrible ones that were done on them in the past.
Nick nodded. “Okay.” Hearing that she was okay relaxed him a bit. He kept his hands over hers, looking her over. He barely glanced to the others, unsure about them.

"Yeah, it's kinda weird actually. They've been treating us...decently," Hailey said with a shrug, that something that was just really really surprising, considering how they were brought up."I told you it's not as bad at you thought," Riggs said with a grin at her.
Hailey looked up at him and stuck her tongue out, a light smile on her face before looking back at Nick."What happened after I was taken?"
Nick raised an eyebrow at how Riggs and Hailey acted. He let her hands go but stayed close. “A lot. I’m not sure here is the best place to talk about that though.” He said carefully, not wanting their flock out in any more danger.

"I don't think there's audio in here..," Hailey trailed off, looking to Riggs and Jess for confirmation."Nah no audio, just cameras," Riggs said with a shrug of his shoulders.
"Yeah, no audio. So you can tell me," Hailey said, adjusting a bit on the cot and putting her hand on Nick's leg just for some further contact.
Nick nodded. He glanced to Riggs and Jess. “Can you guys give us some space then?” He asked, not trusting them. Jess nodded. “Yeah of course.” She assured, heading over to kai to give them some space.
Nick stayed close to Hailey and waited for Riggs to back off.

Riggs raised his eyebrow at the request, it taking a moment for him to actually nod his head."Over there if you need anything." He directed this to Hailey before turning and walking over to his own cot.Hailey nodded at Riggs, looking back at Nick and waiting for him to explain. She understood why he was hesitant to speak around them, she had been too after all. But after all the time she spent with them, well, she wasn't afraid or nervous about them anymore.
Nick raised an eyebrow at how Riggs acted before turning to Hailey. “They’re all doing alright. Chastity and Jayden are there with the whole flock. They gassed us after they took you. We woke up and you were gone, tried to track but trail went cold. So we went back to Ethan’s. He showed me how to track your phone, nothing came up and then it pinged here. So I came looking for information...”

Hailey nodded her head, sighing a bit."I wish you wouldn't go off on your own all the time." She was smiling gently as she said this though, kinda glad that he was here. Yeah it sucked because the two of them were stuck in here, but it really was nice to see him. She had missed him a lot.
“I know. That’s why I’ve got to get you home. So you’ll stop me from doing stupid stuff and going off alone like that.” Nick replied softly, studying her face. He’d missed her so much and even though he was worried about being away from the flock, he was glad to be with her.

Nick nodded. “That’s good. I’m glad they’ve been letting you be.” He mumbled. He didn’t expect that they’d treat him so kindly since he was determined to keep fighting every step of the way. He didn’t mention that to Hailey though.

They still do them of course, but it's nothing like what they did to us at the School," Hailey said, looking up when the door to the Birdcage opened.Dr. Wu stepped though and her eyes went right over to Hailey and Nick and she offered a bright smile."Hi Hailey, hi Nick. I wanted to come in here to take care of Nick's wounds, I know he got hurt a bit." She hadn't expected him to wake up so quickly, otherwise she would've come in sooner.
Nick nodded to Hailey. His eyes darted to the door when it opened, shifting a bit closer to Hailey as he watched the doctor approach. “No thanks. I’m fine.” He answered quietly, letting go of Hailey.

“I’m not your sweetheart. And I don’t see how you’re gonna act any different than they do when it comes to me.” Nick answered lowly. He was sore and knew that he’d been beaten up pretty badly but he didn’t trust going with this doctor. He wasn’t going anywhere without Hailey if he could avoid it.

Dr. Wu sighed softly and looked to Hailey for a little bit of guidance. She knew him after all."Nick shes not gonna do anything bad to you, I swear. She's been nothing but gentle with me," Hailey said, putting a hand on his back and rubbing it in a, hopefully, comforting way,"Just let her take a quick look."
Nick leaned into Hailey’s touch for a moment, watching the doctor. “Fine. But I’m staying in here.” He countered, moving and standing up. He stayed near Hailey but was wary of this doctor. Especially since they were treating them so nice. It felt ominous.

"Of course, I was gonna look you over in here anyways," Dr. Wu replied, lifting up the first aid kit that she brought in with her. She moved slowly over to Nick and set the kit down on his bed, opening it up."Um, would you mind taking off your shirt for me please? So I can see the injuries there?"Hailey stayed sitting on the cot so she could watch them carefully, not wanting Nick to freak out and accidentally do something to Dr. Wu.
Nick hesitated before pulling off his shirt and facing the doctor. He kept his wings shut tightly and let her look over the scrapes and bruises all over his skin. He seemed to have lost a bit of weight from the lack of sleep and the one track mind of dealing with the institute and then finding Hailey which made him look even worse. (Should nick have any sort of significant injuries or something that they have to take him and separate him from Hailey? He could get aggressive and Riggs steps in?)

(( Dr. Wu could think that he has a broken rib and want to take him in for an x-ray? (: ))Dr. Wu waited patiently for him to take it off, looking at the injuries there. He had a lot of bruising on his chest it looked like...Frowning, she grabbed her alcohol disinfectant and put some onto a rag and started wiping his face off first gently to get the cuts clean there as well as the blood off."Sorry if it burns."
((Sounds good to me! Do you think he should get a tracker and maybe any other stuff done as well?)Nick watched her warily as she grabbed stuff to clean his face. He reached next to him and gently took Hailey’s hand, not reacting as she cleaned up the blood and scrapes. It stung a bit but he didn’t want to react or give away anything that they could use against him.
"Oh that's a good movie," Riggs commented, taking the coke from Jess with a thanks and opening it up.
