Jess perched on a different branch of the tree. “Yeah. We’re let into a different area to eat. There’s an exercise room. And a bit of a game room for entertainment and such.” She explained softly.

Kai nodded. “Yeah. She seems like a leader too.. probably kept her flock alive.”

(( Yeeeeah! Like she should be able to do that and be able to do what Nick does with his disappearing and stuff :D ))

Hailey nodded, surprised at how well they were treated. The Schools really were a lot different depending on where you went. She looked at the layout of it, seeing it there was possibly something she would be able to tear off. Maybe, but not right now. She was still too weak.

"Yeah probably. Maybe that's why she's here, ya know? They value her or something?" Riggs said.

(Okay! Should she be able to make herself disappear or maybe just be able to make things disappear? Also, any ideas about Kai? (I also had an idea about nick getting a bit more powerful but I’m not sure yet.)

Jess sat down on the branch and looked around. “What else can you do besides levitating?” She asked curiously.


Kai nodded. “Probably yeah. There’s gotta be a reason she’s here if they captured her in washington and sent her so far..” he agreed. “Jess seems to get along with her though.”

"I can levitate things," Hailey replied, using her powers just slightly to bend one of the smaller branches a bit to show it off to her,"That's about it really. My wings work, I just don't use them too much anymore."

"Exactly," Riggs said with a nod, looking up at her," I think she's just glad theres another girl here for her to talk to."

Jess nodded slightly. “Is it just easier to levitate than to fly?” She guessed softly. She glanced down at the boys.

Kai nodded. “Probably. Less intimidating than us for sure..” he agreed. He watched the girls together.

"It takes time. But you can do more with levitating than with flying. Less restrictions," Hailey replied with a shrug. She looked down as well, but she happened to look down right as a few of the doctors came into the room. Dr. Lee was one of them.

Dr. Lee looked at the two boys, offering a smile."Hello Riggs, Kai. How are you today?"

Riggs looked over when he heard the doctors come in, nodding at Dr. Lee."Afternoon doctor. Everything okay?" He wasn't the biggest fan of Dr. Lee, he just always got a bit of a creep factor from him. But the doctor had never hurt them or spoke badly to them, so he figured it was just one of those unexplainable feelings.

(Yes xD also, since Hailey is pretty powerful, do you think nick should be a bit more powerful too? I was thinking something like he’s able to use his invisibility to sorta create shields with it and protect people?)

Jess nodded. “Fair enough. You don’t have wings getting in the way of it all.” She agreed, watching the doctors.

Kai nodded politely to them. “Why’s the new girl here?” He questioned quietly.

Dr. Lee looked at Kai when he questioned that and smiled."We brought her in for a very special reason, she's extremely valuable to us and we figured she could use a nicer environment. Speaking of, where is she?" He pretty much knew the answer though and he looked up, seeing Hailey and Jess up in the tree."Hailey, Jess, could you come down here please?"

Hailey glared daggers at the doctor, flipping him the bird and staying right where she was.

Kai raised an eyebrow. “She said she had a flock though. Where’s the rest of them?” He asked persistently.

Jess looked at Hailey. “I know you’ve got your reasons for not liking them but it’s a lot less stressful if you just go with what they ask.” She said softly before moving and jumping out of the tree. She used her wings and drifted to the ground.

Dr. Lee looked back at Kai when he asked, still keeping a smile on his face."They were too dangerous to bring here all together. We wanted to start off small with Hailey, we're planning on going back for the rest of her friends." Again, he looked back up."Now Hailey, come down here please. I know you don't think to well of me, but I'm not going to hurt you."

"Piss off," Hailey called down from her spot, using her powers of levitation to throw the bag of clothes that the other doctor had given her at him.

Dr. Lee was able to move in time and he sighed, looking over at the other doctor and sighed."Hailey I'm sorry that I need to do this, but you're not giving me much of a choice." The doctor in question stepped forward and raised her hand, pulling it back after a moment, and with her she somehow managed to grab Hailey out of the tree.

Hailey yelped when she was grabbed from the tree by some kinda invisible force, afraid she was gonna come crashing down, but the doctor let her down gently. Hailey looked around in pure confusion. What in the hell?

Kai raised an eyebrow at them.

Jess went over to Hailey when they forced her down. She understood her revolting against the doctors but felt like it was just gonna cause more problems.

"There, now that you're down, we need you to come with us," Dr. Lee said, smile back on his face as he looked at her.

Hailey glared daggers at him, taking a few steps back away from them. She didn't want anything to do with them.

"Hailey just go. They're not gonna hurt you if you just go," Riggs said with a shrug. It's what all of them had learned throughout all the years of being here. Just listen and you get treated pretty well.

Jess looked over at her. “Hailey. Go with them. They’re a lot kinder than the doctors you know.” she assured softly.

Kai frowned. “She’s certainly got some fire. I don’t think it’ll end well for her though. There’s no reason to fight them.” He mumbled.

"I know him and he's anything but nice," Hailey argued with a shake of her head. They might have them fooled, but not her. She knew what the hell they were.

"Oh Hailey....you were so young, I'm sure I must have seemed like some sort of monster to you. But I assure you dear, I'm not. Just come with me," Dr. Lee said, plastering that smile on his face. Hailey knew though, it was fake as hell. He could see that she wasn't budging and he looked towards the doctor who had grabbed her just a moment ago."Please dear, I don't want to resort to violence."

Hailey looked at all of them around her, knowing that she was outnumbered. They were gonna get her one way or another. So she just took a few hesitant steps forward, never breaking eye contact with the doctor however.

Dr. Lee smiled at her, nodding."Very good. Let's head out then. We'll be back soon kids, probably not before dinner is over so you enjoy that." With that, they left with Hailey.

Jess frowned, seeing how Hailey was acting. “Can I come with? I won’t interfere but it seems like she might benefit from having someone with her.” She offered gently.

Kai watched Jess before glancing to Riggs. “She seems genuinely afraid of them. What do you think happened?”

Dr. Lee looked at Jess when she asked that and smiled over at her."Thank you for your concern dear, but not this time. We have to do some rather through analysis on her since it's been a while since she's been with us. Don't worry though, she'll be just fine."

Riggs looked at Kai and shrugged."I dunno. It's certainly weird. I guess there's at least one person here that knew Hailey before, I wouldn't have thought any of them were here."

Jess frowned, wary of them suddenly. She went over to the guys once they took Hailey out. “That’s strange. I. Maybe she’s got a point? She came from a different school and it looks like they didn’t treat her well there?” She theorized quietly.


Kai shrugged. “I dunno what’s going on..”

"It's a possibility. But I mean, Dr. Lee's never done anything to us. It's like he said, Hailey was young when she knew him, we all knew how scary it was when we were little. So maybe some of the other doctors didn't treat her too well and she's taking that anger at them and putting it on Dr. Lee," Riggs said with a shrug, not thinking too much of it. He didn't mind the doctors here, he really didn't think any of them were mean or bad. That vibe he got from Dr. Lee? Probably nonsense and his nerves acting weird.

Jess shrugged. She sat back on her cot. “I guess we’ll have to wait and find out.” She mumbled.

Kai nodded. “Maybe after, Hailey will be able to explain more and we’ll understand why she doesn’t like them..”

"Yeah we can ask her. It wouldn't surprise me if she was treated badly before, but that doesn't mean she'll be treated the same way here as long as she listens," Riggs replied, standing up and opening his wings a bit,"I'm gonna fly around a bit." He went up and just flew slowly around the Birdcage, his mind still thinking of how Hailey reacted to the doctors though.

Kai nodded in agreement. “Yeah. We’ll figure this out later.” He agreed. He stayed in the ground and talked with Jess while Riggs flew around for a bit.

Hailey didn't actually get back to the room until decently late at night, nearly 1 o'clock in the morning. Dr. Wu opened up the door to the Birdcage and wheeled in the unconscious girl, trying to be quiet with it so she wouldn't wake up the others.

Riggs, however, did wake up, stirring out of his sleep and lifting his head."Dr. Wu?"

Dr. Wu looked up when she heard a voice, smiling softly at Riggs."I'm sorry dear, I didn't mean to wake you. Go back to sleep."

Jess was a light sleeper. She could usually sense when the keycards went off to open the doors and it woke her typically. She sat up and watched the doctors. “Why is she unconscious? What’d you all do that took all evening?” She asked.

Dr. Wu looked at Jess when she woke up to and smiled."Guess I wasn't as quiet as I was trying to be." She wheeled the chair over to Haileys cot and moved around, gently picking the girl up and placing her down."We had a lot of tests to run on her, poor thing was pretty beat up. We had to put her to sleep to preform a small surgery, she had some bones that were growing in wrong around her wings. I'm surprised she didn't feel any pain with it all these years."

(( This is, obviously, a lie haha they put her to sleep to put a tracking chip in her back, as well as do the impregnating part of it. Dr. Wu doesn't know that though, that's just what Lee told her they did. I'm thinking that they managed to transport the DNA from the other School when they took Nick and her? So they did inject her with Nicks stuff so it's still actually his baby as well? (: what do you think? ))

Jess frowned but nodded. “Okay.” She got up and came over to Hailey, grabbing the blankets from the foot of her cot and gently covering her up. “I’ll keep an eye on her, make sure she wakes up okay and everything.” She assured so the doctor would leave.

"Okay sweetie, thank you," Dr. Wu said, putting a bottle of water down as well as a bottle of pills,"Have her take one of those when she wakes up. Help with the pain."

"Wait, Dr. Wu?" Riggs said, sitting up in his cot a bit,"What happened to Hailey and her Flock? I'm just asking cause she seems so...afraid."

Dr. Wu sighed and nodded."Yes. The School that they grew up in, well, they didn't treat them so well sweetie. They did very, very mean things to them. It's completely understandable why Hailey doesn't trust any of us right now. But I'm hoping we can change her mind on that, let her know that it's not all bad here."

Jess nodded slightly. She gently tucked Hailey in, looking her over to make sure she seemed alright. She frowned at the comment. “Well then why separate her from her flock? Wouldn’t she feel safer with them being around?” She questioned softly.

"Well sweetie," Dr Wu said, sighing a little bit and sitting down on the edge of Hailey's cot,"that's how they managed to get out the first time. Being together. We figured we would start by integrating her first into a group, like yourselves, that have been here a while and who know that they can trust us. Once she realizes that it's not bad here, we're gonna go back and get the rest of her friends here as well. They listen to Hailey, so it'll be a much smoother adjustment if we have her to tell them what's it's like here."

"Makes sense," Riggs said, wiping his eyes a bit and yawning.

Jess nodded. “Just out of curiosity, how big was her flock?” She asked curiously as she watched Hailey. She sat on the ground near the cot so she could watch over her for a bit.

"Let's see," Dr. Wu said, thinking about that for a moment,"There was her, Nick, Ace....Hunt, Faye, Zar, Victor and Cass." She had to take a moment to remember all of their names,"From my understanding all of them are still alive and well."

"Wow, that many," Riggs said in surprise,"And Hailey watched over them all? Took care of all of them?"

"Well I've seen some videos of them when they were younger and read some reports. Mostly it was her in the beginning, but then Nick started to step up to help her as well. The two of them were very good friends," Dr. Wu explained with a smile,"So it's probably safe to say the two led together when they escaped."

Jess nodded slightly. “That’s a big flock.” She murmured quietly. She repeated the names mentally, wanting to be able to talk to Hailey about her flock and know their names. “Will they all come here eventually? It’d be nice to have so many of us here.”

Despite all the talking, Kai was sound asleep and didn’t even move.

"Yes very big," Dr. Wu agreed, nodding her head at Jess' question,"Yes that's what we're planning on, once Hailey gets adjusted a little bit more. We would like her to come with us when we go and get them, so they know that they can trust us."

"Do you think they'll act like Hailey when they first come?" Riggs asked.

"Probably a bit, yes. You have to remember these kids had very, very traumatic pasts. A bit of adjusting is necessary for them," Dr. Wu replied.

Jess nodded. “Alright..” she agreed quietly. “Are the rest of her flock just waiting at another facility?” She guessed, not thinking they’d all be on the loose still.

"No sweetie, they're still out there," Dr. Wu replied, not really knowing where though. She wasn't even aware that Chasity, Mason or Jayden were with them."I believe they're being monitored though, to make sure nothing happens to them before we go and get them." She looked over when she noticed Riggs yawning more and she smiled."I should go now, let you kids get more sleep. If something happens with Hailey, just ring the buzzer and someone will come in here, okay?"

Jess nodded. “Alright. Thanks.” She agreed quietly. She kept an eye on Hailey and waited till the doctor left the room before going over to talk to Riggs. She sat on the edge of his bed.

"Okay. Good night sweetie," Dr. Wu said, giving Jess a little kiss on the head before leaving the room.

Riggs watched as she left, going to lay down when Jess came over and sat with him."What's up?"

Jess frowned. “This isn’t adding up. They captured her, not the rest of her flock though.” She mumbled. “And a flock that big that escaped, that they think are all alive, you’d think they’d try to catch them all.” She reasoned.

"Well you heard what Dr. Wu said, they wanted to start off small with her, someone that will listen to her when she tells them that she had trust them," Riggs said with a shrug, it making sense to him,"Besides, I wouldn't want them bringing a bunch of people we don't know in here right away, freaking out and everything. I think it's good they only brought Hailey here."

“But they don’t even have the others at a different facility. They’re still out there.” Jess protested quietly. “I get slowly integrating them here. But they took only her and her flock is still out there, probably looking for her..” she commented, glancing at Hailey.

"Maybe they didn't want them destroying another one of their facilities?" Riggs suggested, that being an obvious reason to him that they didn't get them too. He didn't trust them, he figured they had to be pretty dangerous kids to have survived that long. He didn't even wanna think about what they did to be able to live alone that long.

Hailey turned a little bit in her sleep, her face scrunched up a bit uncomfortably.

“So instead they’re still running free?” Jess commented quietly, raising an eyebrow. “Maybe it is nothing but it just sounds very weird.” She added, getting up and going back to Hailey to make sure she was alright.

"I guess," Riggs said, watching as she went to go check on Hailey,"Maybe it's a little weird, but if you think about their reasons, it makes total sense to me."

Hailey was still asleep, but it was clear she was not having a nice rest.

Jess shrugged. She settled back on the ground near Hailey and didn’t say anything else. She figured that Riggs probably wanted to go back to sleep. And she didn’t want to argue with him either.

Riggs did go back to sleep, falling asleep rather easily.

Hailey was asleep for quite a while, since she had been given a strong dose of medicine. It was nearly 3 in the morning, 4 hours later, when she woke up out of sleep with a start, looking around in confusion. She tried to sit up, but winced from the pain in her shoulder blade.

Jess didn’t go back to sleep. She got up and wandered a bit but kept a close eye on Hailey the whole time. She went over to her when she woke up. “Hey, how are you feeling?” She asked gently.

Hailey looked at Jess when she came over, taking a moment before she replied."Tired. My fucking back hurts." She really didn't look like they had done anything bad to her. There was just a small bruise on her arm where they had inserted an I.V for her. And they really didn't do much to her either, just that they did basic tests and practices on her like they said they would and then told her they needed to put her to sleep to fix a problem with her wing. She hadn't even realized there was a problem...

Jess nodded. “They left you some pain pills on the little table. And I can grab you some food.” She offered gently. “You were out for quite a while.” She added with a slight shrug, watching her.

Hailey looked at the pills that were left, frowning. She didn't wanna take any damn medicine from them."How did I get back in here?" She did reach for the water as she asked this, since it was in a bottle she figured it was safe. She opened it up and took a long drink, sighing out afterwards.

“Dr Wu wheeled you in. She set you in bed and then left.” Jess explained simply. She watched her drink some water. “are you hungry? I can grab you some snacks?”

Hailey nodded a bit, remembering her from the exam room. She had been the one to do most of the tests on her before they put her to sleep. At the mention of food, she shook her head."No I'm fine." Looking around, she reached behind herself and touched her shoulder blade where it hurt, wincing out a bit. It was very sore.
