Jayden took a closer look around for any other clues. “I’m not sure honestly. It’s weird to have the tracks split. Unless they’re going different places. In which case, we don’t know which would lead to Hailey. I think we would’ve noticed another facility in the woods though..”.

Mason nodded, thinking."They transported me by airplane. Maybe they did the same for Hailey." It was an option. Get her far away enough to get her in a chopper or something and take off with her. That made it a lot harder to figure out exactly where she was though.

Jayden nodded. “Okay. Let’s check each path then, see if either leads to an airstrip or runway or something?” He suggested, glancing to mason to make sure he was on board.

"Okay. I'll take the one going more into the woods," Mason said, starting off in that direction. He moved further down though so he was close to the ground once more.

Jayden nodded. “I’ll meet you back here in a few..” he agreed. He headed down along the other path, following the tracks and scanning around for some sign of Hailey.

Mason did the same, looking around for anything that could be helpful. Unfortunately, he came up with nothing and the tracks went onto a roadway after a certain distance, of course making that impossible to track them any longer. So he turned back around and flew back to where they were gonna meet back up.

Jayden’s path similarly led to a highway. He looked around a bit but there was nothing clear enough to tell them where to go from there. He turned around and went back to join Mason again.

Mason looked at Jayden when they met up again and he shook his head."Just lead to a road. Would be hard to track on there until they split off again. You?"

"Who do you think she is?" Riggs asked, looking over at his other two friends. They were stuck in a different lab, sort of like the School but a more higher kinda place than that for the experiments that had managed to impress the scientists enough. They were kept in a Birdcage pretty much 24/7, except when when they ate and, of course, were being experimented on. It had been an hour ago when the scientist, Dr. Lee, had put down this girl on one of the extra cots that they had, not giving them any instructions other than not to bother her. So they had been doing just that, staying a decent distance away from the girl and giving her space while she slept.

Jess had been the first to approach the girl, leaving some water by her cot for her and looking her over. “She’s about our age. I dunno though. Maybe from the other school and they brought her here to balance out genders? I dunno.” She commented softly.

Kai shrugged and watched her quietly. “Looks like she got beaten up pretty bad though.”

"I sure as hell hope that's not the case," Riggs said with a grimace at the idea. He crossed his arms over his chest and continued to stare at her, nodding at Kai's words."She looks a lot of beaten up. They must have just had her in a fight or something. Jess, can you see, she got wings?" It would make sense for her to considering she was with them in the Birdcage.

Jess shrugged. She was a bit wary of the girl but still got closer. “Her shirt is cut in the back like ours so probably.” She guessed faintly.

Kai sighed a bit. “Maybe? Haven’t you heard those rumors about the escaped avians though?” He suggested after a moment. “There was a group of mainly prototypes that ended up getting out...”

"Yeah I remember that. That was over 3 years ago though, surely they have to all be dead by now," Riggs replied, examining the girl again from top to bottom. He was very wary of new people, people that he wasn't use to. And to have this random unconscious girl pretty much in their living space, well, that wasn't sitting too well with him. What if she jumped up and attacked them or something?

Kai shrugged. “Maybe yeah. But maybe not. Stranger things have happened before.” He mumbled as he watched them all quietly.

Jess hesitated before nudging the new girl, trying to wake her up. The doctors had said to leave her alone but she wanted to see if she was alright.

"I guess," Riggs said, seeing how Jess suddenly nudged her and his eyes widened,"Jess! You ever heard of not poking the bear!? We don't know that girl!"

Hailey groaned a bit when she was poked, turning her head over and shifting a little bit in her sleep. She was very sleepy, that had given her with something really powerful when they had taken her.

Jess rolled her eyes at him. “I think we can safely assume she’s not murderous if they left her in here with us.” She countered quietly. She moved to be in the girls line of sight if she woke up before nudging her again. “Hello?”

"We don't know that for sure!" Riggs replied, wincing when she nudged her again,"What is with her and the touching? I tell her not to touch and then she goes and keeps on touching!" He mostly said this to himself, his mama (?) bear instincts kicking in. Like Marlin, from Finding Nemo. Good example of Riggs.

Hailey groaned again, coughing as she started to come out of her sleep. One of her eyes cracked open slightly, though she wasn't able to see right away. After a few more times blinking, her vision cleared and she saw a girl she didn't recognized right in front of her. Right away she tensed up and quickly jumped up, well, tried to. She pretty much toppled over as soon as she got to her feet, falling down on the grass below her.

Kai chuckled a bit at Riggs reaction. “You try to stop Jess. She’s stubborn as hell.” He commented. He looked up to Riggs as being their leader pretty much and trusted him. But they were still essentially trapped in a bubble where the main thing that could hurt them was the scientists.

Jess quickly stepped back from her. “Sorry. Sorry. Didn’t mean to scare you.”

"She is," Riggs said, seeing when the girl jumped up awake and he quickly moved forward, not trusting her not to hurt any of them.

Hailey coughed a bit, her entire vision spinning and looking like a kaleidoscope. It took her a bit to calm it down, as well as keep down the feeling of wanting to vomit. Looking up, she found 3 people in the room with her."Who are you? Where am I?"

"Who are you is what I wanna know," Riggs said right away, a bit of a glare on his face.

Hailey glanced in between them all, not wanting to give up her name so easily, but she was so damn confused."Hailey."

Kai stayed back and watched them quietly.

Jess glanced at Riggs. “Chill. She was probably drugged to get here. Let her get her bearings..” she told him before focusing on Hailey. “I’m Jess. That’s Riggs and then Kai is over there.” She introduced quietly. “You’re in one of the institute birdcages..”

Riggs looked at Jess when she said that, agreeing to stay quiet for a second, but he did not move from his spot next to her.

Hailey looked at each of them as they were introduced, blinking a little bit in confusion. She was hella disorientated."The Institute....in Washington?" She hadn't seen any Birdcages at that one.

Jess shook her head. “No. You’re in Colorado. Did you come from Washington?” She asked gently, tilting her head. She moved and sat on the ground so they weren’t towering over Hailey.

"Colorado!?" Hailey practically shouted, feeling her head just beginning to hurt more and more. She had just been in Washington, how in the hell did she get 3 states over?"Do you know, did anyone else come in with me? Was I with someone?"

She was silent for a good couple of moments before she lifted her head back up."I was with my Flock in Washington, trying...to figure out more information when they attacked us. Riggs raised his eyebrows a bit hearing that, looking over to Kai. Could what he brought up about the avian kids that escaped be true? Was this girl part of them?

Jess nodded. “alright. Well they must have thought you’re pretty special then to bring you here. There’s only been 3 of us for ages.” She commented quietly.

Kai shrugged. “How many were in your flock? And how were you not in one of the schools?”

She knew that she was really important to them, but she also knew why it was that she was important...At the other guys words, she shrugged."We escaped a few years back from the one down in California." She didn't wanna tell how many there were, not knowing much about these other kids after all.

Kai shot a pointed glance towards Riggs. “Told you so. They’re the ones that escaped.” He commented. He’d overheard the doctors talking about wanting to recapture them more than once.

Jess nodded. “Alright. Well for now you’ll probably want to take it easy. There’s some water there for you..”

Riggs didn't think there was even the possibility that those kids were still alive, let alone that he was gonna meet one of them.

Hailey looked at the water that was mentioned, but she did not reach for it, as thirty as she was. She didn't know what was in there."How long have you guys been in here?"

Kai shrugged at him.

Jess glanced to Riggs, unsure how long it’d been. “We’ve been here for quite a while.” She admitted. “That water is safe though. Same as what we drink and we’re fine.”

"We've been here for about 3 years. As far as how long we've been in the system, since we were born," Riggs replied to Hailey, seeing that she was very hesitant to trust them. Made sense.

Hailey nodded at the explanation, looking around. It was honestly a lot nicer of a set up then any Birdcage she had been too. Much larger and they had actual beds and little things for, what looked like, holding their clothes. Even a little kitchen set up in the corner and a bathroom."Very boujee, compared to what I grew up with."

Jess nodded slightly. “They like us appearing presentable most of the time so they provided a bit more for us I guess.” She explained quietly. She stayed sitting near her.

She seemed the kindest out of them all so far and that Riggs guy certainly seemed like he was the leader of this little 3 person thing they had going on. Sniffling, she moved very slowly until she was able to stand up, extending her wings a little bit to balance herself. It had been a while since she had to bring them out, but she was still unsteady."Ever though about getting out of here?"

Rigs raised his eyebrows at her words and chuckled."No not really. Me anyways." He didn't think this was that terrible. Did he like it? No. But this was all he knew.

Kai shrugged. “They don’t treat us that badly. Some of their tests aren’t fun but we just have to go with it really.” He commented softly.

Jess rolled her eyes. “Getting out of here wouldn’t be easy. It’s all reinforced and there’s no easy exits.”

Hailey was surprised at how they seemed so content with staying right where they were. Was there something she was missing that was so cool about this place? About the School?"Uh huh." She certainly wasn't planning on staying long if she could help it.

The door suddenly opened then and a female doctor stepped inside, looking at the 4 of them and smiling. The 3 of them knew who she was, she was Dr. Wu, and she was actually quite nice."I see you're awake now Hailey. I brought you some clothes that we figured you would like, probably wanna get out of those dirty ones." She came over and set down down on her cot."Go ahead and get changed before dinner." She sent them a wave before exiting.

Hailey watched the lady as she came in, tense as hell. She didn't do anything though besides set down a bag of clothes for her before leaving. Um...what?

Jess nodded to the doctor, watching her carefully before glancing to Hailey. “As I said, they’re not too bad.” She assured. “The bathroom is over there if you want to go ahead and get changed into clean clothes. It looks like you’ve had a rough time in those ones.

Hailey just felt weird after seeing that doctor just really, really weird. The scientists that she was use to were nowhere near how that lady had acted. She frowned and looked inside the bags, seeing what clothes were in there. Every single freaking one was a dress."If they don't kill me first, I'm sure the embarrassment of having to wear a fucking dress will." She grabbed one of them though, as well as a clean change of undergarments, and went into the bathroom Jess pointed out.

Riggs watched as she went, turning back to look at his friends."Wow." What else could he say?

Jess frowned at the comment about it being all dresses. She was a decent bit smaller than Hailey though and didn’t think anything she had would fit her. She glanced to Riggs. “Kinda weird to give her all dresses..”

“I dunno. Something seems special about her..” Jess mumbled quietly. “But I guess we’ll see. She seems set on getting out of here though.”

Kai nodded slightly to them. “We can just wait and see what happens..”

Hailey came out of the bathroom a few moments later, wearing on of the flowey, white dresses they had gotten her. And she fucking hated it. She ran her fingers through her hair, looking up and up at the top of the Birdcage."So what'd you do in here all day?"

Jess shrugged. “Usually we have some testing or work to do in the morning, then we’re supposed to exercise in here in the afternoon. Occasionally they bring us things to do or give us tasks.” She explained.

Hailey nodded, using her powers and making herself levitate a bit to go examine in. She didn't get much past a few feet in the air though before she fell back down, woozy still."Dammit."

Riggs looked at her in shock when she did that, not seeing her using her wings."What the hell? Did you just...float?"

Hailey looked at him and nodded, shrugging her shoulders."Yeah. It's just something I can do."

Jess raised an eyebrow. “That’s pretty cool.” She commented faintly.

Kai rolled his eyes. “A little unusual Jess, not sure about it being cool but whatever..” he sat back on his cot and looked around.

Hailey shrugged her shoulders, use to it now."I started being able to do it a few months ago." She tried it again, this time being able to go up higher and higher to examine the Birdcage. It was pretty similar to the one that she, Faye and Nick had been stuck in, just a hell of a lot bigger and more fortified.

Riggs was thoroughly impressed. He had never seen someone be able to float like that before.

Jess opened up her wings and shook them out before flying up to join Hailey. She was letting her be but had noticed she was unsteady and wanted to be close in case her abilities gave out.

Like be able to turn stuff on and off by feeling for the wire in the wall? Kinda like how Nudge was able to pull metallic objects to herself? ))

Hailey knew the girl was following her, but she didn't mind. She flew around a bit, still wozy, and she needed to land on one of the big branches in the trees in here after a moment."Do they ever let you outta here?"
