"It might. Cass and Victor are kinda like her babies so they might be able to talk to her in a way we can't," Hunt said, putting the dishes into the drying rack as he was washing them.

Hailey kept on holding her, watching as Faye cleaned up the table, including her half eaten, mostly crumbled up pancake."Thanks Faye."

Ace nodded. He cleaned up the kitchen while Hunt did the dishes. “Yeah. Hopefully they’ll help. And it’ll definitely be some motivation to get back again to be with them..” he commented quietly.

Cass closed her eyes for a few.

Faye nodded. “you’re welcome. Is there anything else you need?”

"Agreed," Hunt replied, finishing up the dishes and drying his hands off. He sighed a bit and rubbed his forehead."Wanna go try and look on the laptop, see what we can see?"

"No, thanks," Hailey replied, standing up from the table with Cass still in her arms. She moved at sat down on the couch with her, Victor following along a moment later.

Ace nodded. “Sure. Hopefully nick didn’t hide it or make it super hard to find..” he commented softly. He followed him to the living room.

Faye nodded and went to the room she shared with Zar.

Cass stayed snuggled close to Hailey.

"Right, let's go see...," Hunt said, going into the living room as well. He searched along the couch for a moment until he noticed it under some blankets. Sitting down, he opened it up and made sure it was charge, which it was, and started clicking around to find Nick's notes.

Zar had just gotten out of the shower when Faye come into the room and she was drying off her hair, still in a towel. She glanced up when Faye came in, offering a small smile.

Ace sat down close to him. He pointed out the folder labeled simply with “the flock”. “I’m gonna make a wild guess and say that’s got the stuff.” He commented with a slight smile.

Faye smiled a bit and sat on the bed. “Hey. Have a nice shower?” She asked sweetly.

"Yeah that might be a good start to things huh?" Hunt said, moving over and opening up that file so he could read what was inside. Nick took down a lot of notes on this thing, that was for sure.

"Yeah it was nice," Zar replied, going over to where she kept her clothes and grabbed some. Sighing, she looked at Faye."Do you want me to stay here?"

Ace looked over all the notes. “Well at least he was thorough. That’ll help..” he commented quietly. He shifted closer to hunt and glanced through all the notes, looking mainly for locations.


“I think you’d be safer here. You’ve been through quite a lot.” Faye commented. “Plus then the kids would have someone on the off chance things went south. But it’s obviously your decision in the end.

"Yeah he was," Hunt said, also reading through the notes quickly to see what might be on there. There were a few locations sprinkled around and one of them caught his attention."We were gonna head up to Washington?" He looked up at Hailey as he said this.

Hailey looked over and nodded."Yeah. We figured it was the best spot that the Institute might be and I think that's a higher branch than the School. Figured if we could take out the big part, the smaller ones would fall."

Zar listened to her words, knowing that she had a good point."I would, but I don't wanna be somewhere that you're not. And I'm worried about how Hailey is taking everything..." But the point about the kids was a good one...

Ace shifted and leaned his head on Hunt's shoulder as they looked through it all. "It's worth a shot for sure. I'd imagine the Institute is a lot more challenging to get in and out of and all that though." He commented softly.

Faye nodded. "I'm worried about her too. I hate what Nick did to her. He could've just said that he was ready to get moving and we'd make a plan rather than keeping it secret then bolting." She mumbled softly. "But as I said, it's your decision on where you'd feel best at."

"Yeah probably. That's why it's a good thing pretty much everyone is coming, we need all the manpower we can get," Hunt said, sending a look over to Hailey after he said this. They were already 2 people down...

Hailey face fell a little bit after Hunt's words and she was silent for a bit before continuing."We have to figure out exactly where it is of course first. I doubt it's gonna be obvious wherever it is."

Zar nodded her head in agreement, also quite angry with Nick and the decision that he made. It wasn't right..."Okay. I'll think a little bit more about it." She took her towel off and started getting dressed after she said this.

Ace stayed leaning on Hunt. He didn’t comment further, figuring Hunt’s comment would hopefully be enough to try and snap Hailey out of her funk and get her focused on the task at hand.

Cass snuggled closer. “You’ll keep us updated on where you are and if you’re okay, right?” She asked softly to try and keep the fear from her voice.

Faye nodded. “No worries. There’s no rush that you need to have decided now or anything.”

Hailey looked down at her and nodded her head."We'll try and call whenever we get to a phone booth. We don't want them tracking our calls or anything like that."

Hunt looked back down at the computer after a second to continue on with the reading.

Zar nodded and got dressed quickly, putting the towels back in the bathroom. Once she returned, she went and sat down by Faye and leaned on her slightly.

Cass nodded, biting her lip, a habit she'd gotten from watching Nick. "Okay. Be careful though." She mumbled.

Ace looked over it all with Hunt, occasionally pointing out or commenting on various things.

Faye shifted and hugged her close. "I got you." She promised. "And no matter what, this'll be okay."

"Is everyone doing okay or do you all want a break?" Hailey turned while she was flying to look behind at everyone else, much easier to do when you weren't using wings. They were nearly all the way to Washington now, only a little bit longer of a flight, but she didn't want everyone to be tired as soon as they landed. As for who was there, well, after a bit of talking from Hailey and Faye, it had been decided that Zar should stay back with the kids. It was just easier that way, they would have her looking after them and she wouldn't be at risk for being caught by the School and tortured more than she already had been.

"I'm fine," Hunt called to her, giving her a thumbs up,"The question is, do you need a break Hailey.? The girl hadn't slept much last night. How did he know? Because he didn't sleep well either so he head her moving around.

Faye was grateful that Zar had stayed behind. She knew she’d be safe and could protect the kids in case they were gone for a while. She glanced to Hailey and nodded. “A break sounds good.” She commented. She wasn’t that tired but knew Hailey had to be getting tired and Jayden must be too as he was lagging behind a bit.

Jayden wasn’t used to flying such long distances and it wore him out. He tried his best to keep up though, grateful that Faye kept checking to make sure he didn’t get left behind.

"Okay, let's land...," Hailey scanned a bit to see what would be the best for them and pointed,"Looks like there's a clearing right there. Lets drop down." She did just that, angling so she was moving down to the little clearing.

Hunt nodded and followed, dropping down easily and looking at Jayden to make sure he was doing okay as well. He was kinda a new flier after all, having always had his wings, but never quite used them."You did good though, it's been almost 3 hours since our last break."

Faye followed Hailey down. She landed easily, pulling her wings shut and moving out of the way to make sure the others had enough room.

Jayden offered a weak smile to hunt as he followed to land. He landed and stumbled a little bit. “Thanks.” He mumbled.

Ace followed them all. He let them all land before he did, glancing around to make sure there wasn’t anything that would put them in danger.

Hunt nodded and opened up his backpack, pulling out some granola bars. He tossed them over to everyone, except Hailey who, when he warned her he was gonna toss it, she shook her head."You better at least make sure you drink some water."

"Okay mother," Hailey replied to Hunt, grabbing the phone that she now had out of her pocket. Ethan had gone out and gotten it for them, well 2 actually, one for her to keep a hold of and one for Faye to keep a hold of. So that they could call one another if they got lost, or to call Ethan whenever they wanted to check up."We made pretty good time. It's just past noon now." Yeah, they had started very early this morning.

Jayden thanked him. He took his granola bar and the water before sitting down. He ate his snack and drank some water, keeping quiet as he watched the others.

Faye kept her phone off most of the time. A part of her wanted to keep calling and checking in but she knew it was safer if they didn’t. And she didn’t want to waste the battery in case they needed it later.

Ace thanked Hunt and took his snack. He stayed close by him.

Hailey pocketed the phone after checking the exact time and moved over towards Hunt and Ace, kneeling down next to them."I figure when we get there, library first? They probably have more info about the stuff in the city then we could find easily on the laptop." Plus they had left it with Zar and the kids in case they needed it.

"Sounds good to me. Let's hope they have one of those big fancy libraries," Hunt said, finishing his first granola bar quickly before opening a second one. Yeah, Hunt's appetite was finally back to normal. Not his sleep, but his food intake was back to normal.

Ace nodded. “Sounds like a good plan to. Ace agreed softly. “And just being around the town might give us some more clues as well.” He suggested. He’d noticed that hunt still wasn’t sleeping but at least he was eating.

"Yeah it should. I kinda wish it had a huge sign that said "The Institute" but I doubt that's gonna be a thing," Hailey said, taking a sip of water from her bottle.

"Well sometimes I think the School are made up of a bunch of idiots," Hunt said with a shrug.

Ace nodded. “It’d be nice if it was that easy.” He commented softly.

Jayden spoke up after a moment. “I umm. There’s institute in the name. I don’t remember the full title but it’s like the institute of something and something.” He commented. “So yea. They are idiots.”

Hunt nodded and looked at Jayden, thinking for a moment."Well okay, that makes me think a little bit more that they can be idiotic sometimes. Or maybe a lot of the time."

Jayden nodded. "It's not really that they're super idiotic. They just think that nobody is gonna care at all about any of it." He explained softly. "All the schools and institutes have names that sound like true research labs rather than the abominations that they are."

"Oh good point. Well I mean, they refer to the lab we were at as "The School" so I guess that tells you something," Hunt said with a shrug, finishing his granola bar and downing the rest of his water.

Jayden nodded. "That's cause a large number of erasers and other successful projects were brought there to be trained and well, tested. Sounds like a school to me." He shrugged.

Ace glanced to Hailey as they listened to Jayden's explanation.

"Yeah, kinda like us. That's what Chasity said, we were the most successful they ever made, well, at least Nick and Hailey," Hunt said with a shrug.

"Come to think of it, I've never seen a totally botched experiment at the School. There have been ones that have died off in front of me, yeah, but none of them looked horrible," Hailey said, still listening in on the conversation.

Jayden nodded. "Yeah. Most of you were likely not modified or whatever at the school. But once you were beginning to thrive, you were sent there to be raised and tested." He explained. "Cause I was at a different place too for a while before they shipped me to the school."

"Okay, that makes sense," Hailey said with a nod,"I imagine there are ever different places for the experiments that are doing really, really well. Like if we were to have stayed at the School, who knows, maybe they would have sent us there to train us or some bull crap, like they did with Chasity and Jayden."

"Oh yeah, they might've tried using us like that," Hunt said.

Faye nodded. "So there's layers basically. In theory, wherever we were modified, created, whatever would be the lowest. That's where they design new combos and test to see if they create usable outcomes. Then places like the school. And then probably more advanced places above them?" She suggested quietly.

Jayden nodded. "That sounds pretty close to right from what I know at least."

Hailey nodded at Faye's explanation, that sounding pretty accurate. It was crazy, when she was younger and, even up until recently, she thought the School was their only threat. She realized now that she was very, very wrong, it was bigger than that.

"Damn. This is gonna be hella hard to take down," Hunt said, sighing and shrugging after a second,"We can do it though, I know it."

Jayden nodded. "We can. We're just probably gonna need some help." He commented though he had no idea where they'd be able to find anyone willing to help them.

Faye nodded, glancing around. She sipped a bit more of her water, starting to stress a bit that this was a lot more than they'd be able to handle.

"Well if we bust into a lab of some sort, maybe the experiments in there would be willing to help? You know, ones like us that are somewhat still human," Hailey said, knowing that a decent amount of the experiments the School does messes with the brains of their subjects and takes away things like basic human thoughts and communication.

Jayden shrugged at her. "It's certainly possible but considering the Institute is pretty high up in our theories, they'd likely keep their experiments under tight control. I've heard rumors that a lot of them can't even speak so they can keep conditions secret and what not." He explained. "So maybe but it'll be hard to convince them.

"Yeah I guess. Well, we'll just have to see when we get there," Hailey said with a shrug, standing up and stretching her back a little,"we got about a 30 or 40 minute flight left. You guys ready to head out?"

"I am whenever everyone else is," Hunt said with a nod.

Jayden nodded. "Yeah, i'm ready." He got to his feet and stretched out his wings, waiting for the others to be ready.

Ace made sure they'd repacked everything, not wanting to accidentally leave anything behind.

"Cool, let's go then," Hailey said, levitating herself up in the air a decent ways and waiting for the others to get up as well.

Hunt got up after a running start, and after making sure Ace got everything that they may have taken out. At some point he wanted to ask Hailey why she didn't use her wings anymore. They kinda asked her once, but she didn't give too clear of an answer.

Jayden got off the ground after the boys did. He flew after them, steadying out once he got up in the air.

Faye waited till everyone else was up in the air before joining them. She was trying to make sure Jayden was doing fine with keeping up and everything.

Hailey watched as everyone got up into the sky, beginning to head the rest of the way to Washington after that. It didn't take very long to finish the journey, about 30 minutes like she had said before they started really seeing the city. They were pretty high up, but before they got all the way there, she motioned for everyone to drop down in the woods a little bit away from him. She didn't exactly wanna scare the entire Washington area with knowledge of a bunch of flying mutant children.

Hunt went down when Hailey motioned for them to, landing easily and turning to make sure everyone else, especially Jayden, was able to land just as nice.

Ace kept looking around as they neared Washington, trying to get an idea of what the city looked like and where the institute might be. He followed Hailey’s instructions, dropping down and landing easily.

Jayden was definitely starting to tire. He was still keeping up but generally looked exhausted and a bit over it. He listened to Hailey’s instructions and dropped down to land. He landed smoothly, quickly pulling his wings shut.

Hunt watched to make sure Jayden landed okay, giving him a pat on the shoulder when he got down."Good thing is, you're gonna sleep like a rock tonight." He chuckled a bit, pulling flannel off from around his waist and putting it on to conceal his wings a bit.

"Sorry Jayden, I know that was a lot of work for you. Do you wanna take another breather before we go into town?" Hailey asked him,"Or if Hunt and you wanna just hang out around the park while we go to the library that's fine too."

Jayden nodded. “Yeah. Definitely gonna sleep good.” He agreed. He opened up his backpack and pulled out a jacket. He tugged it on. “No. I’m good. We can get moving.” He assured quietly.

Ace covered up his wings as well, looking around them quietly. “I’m just looking for a neon sign to point us the right way.” He joked.
