Ace moved back, turning so Hunt couldn’t get around him. He knew that having someone behind them was dangerous as they could grab their wings or just grab them. He swung at him again.

Faye nodded. “That’s fair. Your abilities have certainly gotten stronger lately.” She commented.

Hunt tried to get around him, though Ace was or course trying to prevent that. He was doing a good job at it too."Whoa." He chuckled when Ace swung at him, grinning at Ace as he boi ked it and moved back a little.

"I guess," Hailey replied with a shrug, looking up at the guys fighting.

Ace rolled his eyes and moved back slightly, looking him over as he tried to figure out an attack that would work. He flew up higher to try and drop down behind Hunt.

Faye nodded slightly, glancing up at the boys.

Nick came down off the roof, glancing at Hailey and offering a gentle smile before heading inside.

Hunt watched him, seeing that he was trying his tactic of getting behind him. He turned around quickly to track him, trying to stay level with him so he couldn't just get behind him so easily. But this was where Ace was better, he was so much quicker than Hunt was. Hunt was brute strength, not speed.

Hailey looked over when Nick came down, seeing him going into the house. She still didn't exactly what him alone with Chasity...but she wasn't gonna tell him no. That was dumb. Especially after the conversation they just had.

Ace was able to quickly fly up and dart behind Hunt, tapping his back lightly with one hand he didn’t want to grab him and risk actually hurting him.

Nick didn’t plan on going anywhere near chastity. He was gonna see about borrowing Ethan’s computer and starting to try and do some research on the school, needing to keep busy.

Hunt tried to keep up with him, but wasn't able to. He spun around when Ace got behind him, frowning a little bit."Well if Erasers ever learn to fly, we know you'll be able to beat them with speed that's for sure."

Ethan was inside with the little one, rocking with her as he fed her a bottle.

Ace smiled softly. “Yeah. It why other hybrids that are crazy and have wings. Better to be safe when possible.” He shrugged. “Plus it helps with maneuvering in general.”

Nick came in and looked around. “Can I borrow your computer? I want to do some research if that’s okay.” He asked Ethan quietly, figuring he’d see if he could find any useful stuff about the school.

Ethan looked up when Nick came in, smiling at him and nodding."Oh yeah sure. My laptop is on my bed, you can bring it in the living room with you or wherever you want."

Ace nodded slightly. “Yeah. That would be creepy. I don’t think it’s likely that they’ll make them fly though. Seems like a waste.” He explained softly.

Nick thanked him. He got the laptop before coming and sitting in the living room. He opened it up and pulled up an internet browser tab. He didn’t really know where to start but he had to try.

Nick shrugged. “Gonna figure out where to start to go after the school.” He mumbled softly. He sat down in the living room.

Chasity nodded slowly, wondering why they just didn't ask her about it. She had been working close with the School after all. But she didn't say anything, just touched the cookies to see if they were cool enough yet.

Ace kept fighting with him. He was cautious not to harm him but actually get some good practice in. He flew back after a bit, getting a breath.

Nick knew that chasity probably knew a lot and he’d ask her later but he wanted to just sort out what he could alone first so he wouldn’t cause more problems with Hailey.

Nick looked over and thanked her before taking a cookie. He ate it before starting his research. He didn’t hear chastity in his mind but wouldn’t mind if he did, not caring that much.

Hunt nodded, looking down at the others and seeing Chasity down there."I wonder something. You know how Chasity and Jayden have powers, like Hailey and Nick? When are we gonna get some?"

Faye thanked her softly, taking the cookie. She ate it happily. She didn’t talk with the others, listening instead.

Jayden took a cookie, eating it happily as he stayed by them.

Ace shrugged. “I dunno. I’d imagine that we will get them eventually but who knows what or when.” He answered. “I don’t know how old Jayden and Chastity are. Maybe we’ve gotta be older first.”

Chasity shook her head as she took a seat next to Jayden, having the other kids come over and take one as well."Nope, first time. I just always wanted to give it a try, so Ethan printed out a recipe for me."

"I hope that's not that case. I mean, we were all made at different times so I suppose that would have something to do with it? Maybe we should ask Chasity and Jayden when they got their powers?" Hunt suggested.

Jayden nodded slightly. "Well, you did good. I'm no cookie expert but these taste amazing." He complimented, used to the basic nutritional food that the school would always give them.

Ace shrugged. "I mean we can ask. There's no harm in that. It'd be nice if we could just see what info they have on us and then we'd probably know. I don't think they expected us to get such abilities though.."

"Probably not us, but from the way Chasity was talking, I think they meant to give her hers, so they probably meant for Jayden to get his as well," Hunt said with a small nod, dropping down a bit,"I'm gonna go sit with them, try to ask."

Jayden smiled softly and fell quiet. He listened to the younger kids talk. He knew he was a lot older than them but a part of him still felt sheltered and more immature like they were compared to the others.

Ace nodded. "Alright. Let's go ask." He agreed. He flew back down and landed easily before heading over and sitting down near all the others in the grass.

Hunt closed up his wings when they got down there, seeing the plate of cookies and he eyeballed it. He was hungry.

"You can have one...if you want," Chasity told Hunt, seeing him looking at them. The two of them hadn't bitten one anothers head off since she started staying with them, but they weren't really talking either.

Hunt looked at her when she spoke, taking a moment before he did take one, eating it slowly. He still didn't trust her, either of them really. But they were living with them now...so he needed to be nice.

Ace thanked her and took a cookie. He took a bite, glancing at Hunt and making sure he was fine. “So we were wondering about your abilities, both you and Jayden have them. But when did they show? Cause nicks and Hailey’s have only been noticed recently.” He explained, glancing between them.

Jayden shrugged and gave chastity a chance to answer first.

Hunt leaned on Ace after a second and let him ask the question he had been curious about, looking at the both of them for the answer.

Chasity listened to his question, shrugging her shoulders."I've had mine for as long as I can remember. Well, I guess not all of them. At first I was only able to hear minds, then with practice I was able to control them and when I was about 11 or 12, I realized I could communicate telepathically if I wanted to."

Ace stayed close by Hunt. He was doing his best to stay as a buffer between Hunt and Chastity so it’d be less stressful for all involved. He nodded slightly. “Okay. And did they explain anything about it? Or did they not know at first?” He asked. “we’re just trying to sort out if we all are gonna end up with them at some point or what’s up.”

"No it's fine, I get it," Chasity said with a nod,"They made me specifically to be able to do what I do, control people. It's the communication part that they weren't betting on, it's just what happened to happen. And I never told them I was able to do it, wanting something I could use against them if I needed to."

Ace nodded slightly. “That makes sense.” He agreed quietly, glancing to Jayden. “and I’m guessing they gave you the healing abilities as well?” He asked.

Jayden nodded slightly. “Yeah. I think it only showed up when I was 12 ish. I’m not all that sure. I just remember healing my own wounds really quick and then being able to use it on others.”

Faye glanced between them. “Okay. So they knew about your guys’ powers. But I think I heard the scientist comment about nick and the invisibility, that surprised them..”

Chasity listened to them all speak, nodding at Faye's words."Yeah. They had never planned on you guys developing any sorta abilities. They took the consideration, you know, the slight chance you would, but they figured the only person that would've been able to develop any would've been Hailey."

"Why just me?" Hailey asked, looking over at the other girl.

"Cause your genetic makeup is the best that they've ever managed to make. The "purest and most powerful out of them all" as the scientists liked to say," Chasity replied to her with a shrug.

Faye nodded slightly. “Figures. You’re definitely the most special of us Hailey.” She mumbled. “So any clue what the likelihood of the rest of us getting abilities? And why would they make more of us if they already got the most perfect option first?” She questioned curiously.


Jayden shrugged. “They were probably trying and make even better versions than her. I don’t know.”

"I really wish that I wasn't," Hailey mumbled, not wanting to be special or important. That attracted trouble.

"It was sort of that. They've tried to replicate what they did with Hailey before, but they never managed to make anyone better or even equal to her. They were trying over and over again because they figured Hailey wouldn't come willingly and knew how hard it was gonna be to hold her there," Chasity explained, adjusting the way she was sitting,"As for abilities, I'm not really sure if anyone else will develop them, it was a slim chance that Hailey did and an even slimier chance for Nick."

Faye frowned slightly but nodded. “Alright. Good to know.” She honestly hoped that they would all abilities, especially since it would help them a lot against the school. Just between Nick and Hailey, they had become a lot more powerful after their abilities developed.

Ace shrugged. “Seems weird that the prototype would be the best but I guess that happens sometimes.” He reasoned.

"Well they can have whatever they did to me back if they want, I don't want it," Hailey said, stretching her arms up and over her head, yawning softly.

Ace shrugged. “That’s fair. And it’s always hard to know the full story with the school anyways.” He commented softly. He glanced at Hailey. “I don’t think it works that way. It’s in your genetics so they can’t easily take it back.” He commented.

Hailey laughed a little at his words, thinking that would be pretty funny. Sure she was already sorta using her levitating powers more than her wings, but she kinda figured the wings should stay. At Faye's words, she shrugged her shoulders."As far as I'm concerned it's still Nick, I'm not taking that position back from him, at least not for a long while."

Ace smiled when he got Hailey to laugh. He leaned back against Hunt, not saying anything more for the moment as they talked about who was in charge.

Faye nodded. “Why can’t we just simplify it and have you two be in charge together? You confirm everything between you two before us all anyways.” She suggested.

Hunt smiled when Ace leaned against him, kissing his cheek softly. He honestly didn't care who ran what, they were all a team at the end of the day after all. Did he prefer Hailey to Nick? Yes, but that didn't mean he hated Nick. Things were just...iffy between them.

Faye shrugged. “Alright.” She agreed, unsure about questioning it. Nick and Hailey were older and they always tried to do what was best with the flock so she tried to just go with it.

Ace smiled faintly. He stayed snuggled up with Hunt as Hailey spoke. “At some point, since at least the majority of us are teenagers, why don’t we sort things out together. Like we can all bring ideas to the table or whatever but then plan together or vote between different plans or something..” he suggested quietly.

Standing up from her spot, she put her hair into a quick ponytail."I'm gonna go fly around for a bit guys, I should be back within an hour."

Hunt smiled at Ace, looking at Hailey when she said that."Sure. Just don't get lost...or caught."

Ace nodded slightly. "Yeah, it'll probably go over a lot better if you bring it up than any of us. He likes you a bit more." He commented softly. He glanced at Hunt and smiled softly, hoping that maybe that would help ease some of the tensions within the flock.

Faye watched her take off before lying back close to Zar and closing her eyes. “Things are hopefully gonna stay calm for a while.” She mumbled.

Hunt nodded, kissing Ace's head as he got up and went into the house. He noticed Nick on the couch working on the computer and cleared his throat, passing by him to get to the kitchen."What're you working on?"

Faye nodded. “Exactly. And then hopefully this will all be over someday. We’ll get away from the school for good and then can just grow up however we want.” She replied though she knew that probably wouldn’t happen.

Nick glanced up when Hunt came in. “I’m just trying to sort out some more about the school and the institute.” He explained softly.

Hunt got out two water bottles from the fridge, nodding at Nick's reply."Found anything...interesting?" It was still kinda awkward to be talking to Nick. Even after he wasn't under Chasity's mind control, they still managed to find time to almost get into it with one another.
