Nick sighed but nodded. He moved to be behind them all, keeping an eye out to make sure they weren’t being followed. He stayed silent.

Jayden nodded. “Yeah. Of course.” He agreed quietly. He kept flying with them, hoping he could keep up.

Hailey took the lead and lead them through the trees, struggling to carry Chasity a little bit she didn't complain. After a few minutes she noticed a little clearing and she started dropping down, landing on her feet once they were there and setting Chasity down.

Chasity sighed when she was put down, wincing a little when she moved."Thank you...for not leaving me there."

Hailey nodded at her words, shrugging."No one deserves that."

Faye landed in the clearing, glancing them all over quietly to ensure they were okay.

Jayden landed beside them. He cane over, gently taking Chastity’s arm and starting to heal her up.

Nick stayed behind them a bit. He flew down and joined them in the clearing after a couple minutes, still watching to make sure they weren’t being followed.

Hailey stayed by Chasity and Jayden until Nick came down, looking over at him. She went over and took his arm, leading him a few steps away from the others."What was that? Why did you stay down there attacking them?"

Chasity let Jayden do his thing, it causing her some pain but honestly, she didn't even care.

Nick pulled his arm away, not wanting to get blood on her. He shrugged. “bought us some more time. Also swiped a phone from one of the scientists..” he mumbled. He didn’t admit that he just had to get revenge on them. He didn’t want to explain that all right now.


Jayden mumbled an apology. “I know it hurts. I’ve gotta find some way to prevent that.” He said softly.

Faye came over to them and made sure chastity was alright.

Hailey furrowed her eyebrows when he pulled away from her, looking at him."Nick you could've gotten hurt, there wasn't any need for that."

"Its okay," Chasity replied, her voice a little strained from the pain,"I'd rather have a little worse pain and it feel better than constant pain for days."

Nick shrugged. “There was..” he mumbled faintly. He shifted uneasily on his feet.

Jayden nodded. “I’ll do what I can to heal you up decently well. And then can do more later once I get some rest too.” He assured softly, hoping that would be good enough.

Hailey looked at him for a little bit, just took in the way he looked right now. He didn't look like...Nick. He looked different, was acting different."What's the matter with you? We got out, we're okay and we're gonna be back with the other soon. Why don't you look happy?"

Chasity nodded at his words."Sounds great to me." She knew all of them had to be tired, she certainly was. But stopping here for too long so close to the school wasn't a good idea.

Nick shrugged. “I’m fine. We should get moving pretty quick though. I don’t want to hang out closeby in case they send more erasers for us.” He mumbled quietly.

Jayden nodded and healed her a bit more before letting go. “Thanks for helping me and all of us get out.” He told her softly.

Hailey continued to look at him for a moment, knowing something was going on. Why the hell wasn't he telling her? She scoffed and went back towards the others, rubbing her forehead a bit.

Chasity let him do his thing, looking at him once he was done."Yeah, no problem."

Hailey looked at the two of them, sighing a bit."Okay, we got the both of you out. Now I need to know, what do you wanna do? Do you wanna come with us and be part of the group, or go your own ways?"

Nick followed them over quietly, looking around. He rubbed at the drying blood on his arms.

Faye glanced at them. “You might want to stay with us. Jayden, I know you said you’ve never left the school before. You could at least start out with us and then head on your own later if you wanted. Same to you chastity.” She commented though she was still wary of the girl.

Jayden nodded. “I want to stay with you guys. If you’ll have me of course..”

Hailey listened to Faye, then Jayden and nodded, looking at Chasity.

Chasity looked over at her as well and bit her cheek."I know the things I did, things I said. It was stupid, I never should've trusted them. I'd like to come...if you'll take me."

Nick nodded. “It’ll definitely be a bit rough and our flock will be slow to trust but that’s okay. You can join us.” He assured quietly, biting his lip.

Faye nodded slightly. “Okay. Good. So what’s our plan now? Other than getting out of here?”

Hailey nodded at her as well, looking at Faye."Make our way back to Ethans house, see if everyone is still holed up there." They had been missing for 4 whole days after all.

Faye nodded. “Should we try and go through a roundabout way though, or do you think we’ll be safe?” She asked faintly.

Nick shook his wings out and let Hailey decide what to do. He figured he’d just let her be in charge again.

Hailey thought about that for a second, wanting to get back as soon as possible, but also not wanting to lead the School to Ethans house.
"Go the long way. It's gonna suck a bit but it's better than leading the School right to us. We'll probably have to stop at a cave for the night," she replied, looking at Chasity,"Can you fly?"

Chasity nodded and got up, not in so much pain anymore even though she was still very tired.

Nick nodded. He took off and waited in the sky for them, looking around to make sure he still didn’t see anyone following.

Jayden and Faye waited till Hailey was ready to go before taking off. “We can stop at a cave and then maybe brandi’s cabin before going to ethan’s.” She suggested softly.

Hailey watched Nick go up and sighed heavily, making sure Chasity got in the air okay before following, using her wings this time."Yeah that sounds good, it's on the way to Ethans after all." She remembered where the last cave they stayed in way and was gonna aim for that. Some of their supplies were still there that they weren't able to carry. Not a lot, but at least something.

Faye nodded. She let Hailey take the lead, flying behind her near Jayden and Chastity to make sure they both were alright.

Nick stayed at the back but he flew with the others as Hailey led the way to the cave. He bit his lip roughly, his thoughts racing.

It took a good chunk of the day to get all the way back to that cave, it was nearly night by the time they got there. Everyone did really good though, Hailey was surprised Jayden and Chasity were able to make it the whole way without stopping. They were gonna need some serious sleep though. She landed down first, looking and watching the others come down as well.

Chasity was next to come down and she landed a little roughly, she was just so tired, she was hardly on her feet. She leaned against the cave wall to keep herself up, folding her wings in.

Faye landed after Jayden, steadying him gently. “Here. I think we’ve got some food and water here. You guys should eat. And then sleep..” she said softly, heading further into the cave to check that the supplies were still there.

Nick landed last, folding his wings and sitting near the cave mouth to keep watch.

Hailey nodded, letting Faye do that while she moved over to the stuff she had left behind. She found some sweats and a shirt though would fit Chasity and went over to her, offering it."Just being in a shirt can't be comfortable."

Chasity looked at the clothes and took them, nodding."Thanks." She glanced at the two guys before moving more into the cave so she could get changed without them seeing her.

Nick settled at the mouth of the cave, watching outside carefully. He felt exhausted but wouldn’t rest. He felt like he had to protect them. He’d let them down too many times before.

Faye got them all some food and water, distributing it around quietly. “We’ve got some wood. Should we start a small fire?” She asked Hailey.

Chasity came back as soon as she had changed, taking what,was offered to her with a thanks. She settled down close to Jayden, wasn't exactly a friend but he was the one she knew. More comfortable with him.

"Yeah let's do that," Hailey replied, helping Faye put the wood all into one pile near them and letting the other two eat and relax a bit. They needed it.

Jayden thanked them for the dood and water, eating a bit as he sat on the cave floor. He glanced at chastity. “Doing okay?” He asked softly.

Faye set some food aside for the three of them and helped Hailey build up a fire before getting it lit. “I can take watch so you all can sleep?” She offered.

Chasity ate slowly as well, looking at Jayden when he asked."Yeah I'm okay I think. It's weird...being with people like me, don't you think?"

Hailey straightened up when Faye asked that and nodded, looking over at Nick at the entrance."I think he needs some rest. Get him to come in here, he needs to sleep."

Jayden nodded. “A bit yeah. It’s odd to think of how many of us there are. I was talking with Faye. A couple in their flock are still pretty young kids.. makes me wonder if there’s any more or if it’s just us ten? I think that’s the right number..” he commented softly as he ate.

Faye nodded. “I’ll try. But we both know he will probably only listen to you.” she said softly. She went over to nick, taking him some food and water, convincing him to at least go clean up and eat before he could keep watch.

Nick came to the back of the cave, setting his food down. He drank a lot of the water before using a bit to clean off his arms.

Chasity listened and nodded, taking a long drink of her water."I think there are more of us. Maybe not that the School but other institutions. They've been trying to replicate the success they had from Haileys Flock for years and they still haven't managed to make hybrids nearly as good as them all."

Hailey nodded and watched as Faye convinced him to go get some food in him, going over to him after a moment."Are you ready to talk to me now? About what you're thinking?"

Jayden nodded. “I wonder what makes them so special. And then us not.” He commented quietly, glancing around at the other three.

“I was thinking that I need to protect my Flock. That’s all.” He mumbled softly, wiping the blood off his arms quietly. He avoided looking at her.

Chasity sighed a little at that question, chuckling a little."I dunno. I asked myself that a lot when I was learning about them. I have no idea what it is. Maybe it's...just them, as people."

Hailey watched him, putting her hands on her hips. He had been refusing to look at her this entire time."Nick look at me."

“Maybe. Or maybe cause they resisted. As a unit. When they escaped, they took all of them, at least all that they knew about. Not many people would think to save everyone over themselves...”’


Nick finally glanced up and watched her quietly. He bit his lip roughly and stayed quiet, unsure what to say.

Chasity nodded, finishing off the food she was giving and wiping her hands on her pants."They're close, family pretty much."

Hailey looked back at him, moving her hands up and putting both hands on either side of his face."Talk to me."

Jayden nodded slightly. “Sure seems that way.” He agrees quietly. He finished his food before laying down.

Nick closed his eyes for a moment as she held his face. “Don’t know what to say. I’m fine. Everything’s fine..” he mumbled softlY.

Chasity nodded, finishing off the rest of her water. She looked as Jayden laid down, sighing softly and glancing to the front of the cave.

"Everything is not fine, you are not acting like yourself,"Hailey said with a shake of her head, moving a little closer to him,"Tell me what's on your mind."

“Get some rest Chastity. I trust they’ll keep us safe.” Jayden told her gently, frowning slightly.

Faye kept watch, eating her food.

“I’m exhausted. I’ll be fine. I just want to get us back to the others.” He mumbled. “we can talk more later. After we’re back and have made sure everyone else is safe...”

Chasity listened to him and nodded a bit, wanting to believe that. She and no reason not to, they had gotten her out after all. Slowly she laid down as well, using her arm as a pillow.

Hailey bit her lip as she listened to him, taking her hands back and shaking her head."Fine. Get some sleep, Faye and I are gonna alternate taking watch."

Jayden dozed off pretty quickly, exhausted.

Nick shook his head. “No. I can keep watch until we get back to the others.” He offered quietly. He didn’t want to have to have them do anything

"No," Hailey replied to him, her voice firm,"Lay your ass down and get some sleep." She sighed softly and ran her fingers through her hair, not sure what was going on with him, but it was annoying that he wasn't talking to her.

Nick sighed but he complied with her. He sat down, eating a bit of the food before laying down and going to sleep without much trouble. He would sort out talking with Hailey once they got to the others.

Faye nodded. “Alright. Eat before you go to sleep though. You probably need the energy.” She commented softly. She stayed sitting at the cave entrance, glancing at the others.

Hailey nodded and sat down close to Jayden and Chasity, wanting to be close in case they moved around. She ate her food and leaned against the cave wall, falling asleep about 20 minutes later.

Faye stayed awake while they all slept. She knew that she should probably wake Hailey to take over but she felt okay and didn’t mind staying up until they all had slept enough. She walked around a bit to keep herself awake.

A couple hours later and Hailey just woke up on instinct, breathing in deeply and rubbing at her eyes. She looked around and noticed Faye, getting up and going over to her."Get some sleep, I'll take over." She was glad to realize that Jayden and Chasity hadn't gone anywhere, they were still sleeping like rocks.

Faye frowned before nodding. “alright. Wake me up if you need me. We should probably leave first thing in the morning.” She said quietly. She moved to go lay down near the back of the cave, checking on the others first.

Hailey nodded in agreement before going to the front of the cave and sitting down. It was chilly, she had accidently left behind the hoodie that Nick had given her. But she would be alright, change into something in the morning.

Faye laid down and went to sleep pretty quickly.

Nick woke up after another hour or so, quietly getting up and coming to the entrance. He glanced at Hailey before sitting down with her, keeping some space between them.

Nick watched her for a moment before glancing away. “Sorry.” He mumbled to her, leaning back against the opposite cave wall. He watched outside, glad that they hadn’t been followed yet.

Hailey looked at him when he apologized, taking a deep breath after a moment before letting it out slowly."For which part?"
