Ace sat back down beside him and snuggled close. “We’re okay.” He promised, offering him an apple and the jar of peanut butter.


Nick nodded and got up. He offered his hand to her before heading back to join the others and check on them.

Hunt nodded, taking the apple when it was offered to him. He used the knife to cut off a piece of it then put some peanut butter onto it, eating it and sighing a bit. Now he realized as he started eating just how hungry he had been.

Hailey took that hand and pulled herself up with Nick's help, going out of the room and into the living room instead, looking at the others.

Zar looked when they came back into the room, sorta hesitant to ask about what had happened.

Ace cut off a slice of the apple with the knife and ate it, not bothering to put peanut butter on it. “We’ll eat our snack and then we can get some sleep.” He told him gently.

Nick followed her to the living room and flopped down in a chair. “Things got a bit intense but we’re all fine. Ace and hunt are just gonna stay in there and chill out a bit.” He assured them all softly.

Hunt nodded, eating a few slices of apple in silence as he relaxed there with Ace, trying not to think too much about what had happened just a little bit ago. The less he thought about it, the better off he probably was.

Zar listened to the explanation, nodding her head.
"Are you guys alright? We heard a bang?" she asked.

"Yeah we're fine. Hunt...pushed me but, it's cool," Hailey replied, not wanting to make a big deal outta it.

Ace shifted and snuggled closer to him as they ate their snack together. He kissed his cheek lightly.

Nick nodded and glanced at Hailey, hoping she’d sit with him. He just wanted to be close for a bit and make sure she was alright.

Faye frowned but nodded. “Alright. I’m guessing you hit the wall?” She questioned quietly, looking hailey over to make sure she was fine.

"Yeah a little bit. Got a bump on my head, but I'm cool. It doesn't really hurt," Hailey replied, going over and sitting down on the floor in front of Nick, resting her head against his leg.

"Did he say sorry?" Zar asked with a raise of her eyebrow.

"No, he didn't...get a chance to. But I know he is," she replied back.

Nick absently played with a piece of her hair, Barely realizing he was doing it. It was just something to do and keep busy. “He didn’t apologize but you could kinda see that he realized he’d messed up and regretted it.” He commented softly.

Hailey didn't mind him doing this, it being quite relaxing really. She nodded in agreement to his words.

"That's good. I hope getting to talk to Ace calms him down," Zar replied to them.

Nick nodded. “Yeah. He and ace are working out at least so ace is a good comfort. They’ll be fine and then I’ll try and chat with him to sort out our issues.” He assured. He started attempting to braid a piece of Hailey’s hair, having watched the girls do it before.

"Okay good," Zar replied with a nod, wanting them to sort it out quick. The little ones didn't need to be exposed to negativity like that, all that yelling and fighting.

Hailey smiled from Nick's actions, letting him do it. He had braided her hair before and it had felt really nice then as well.

Faye nodded in agreement, snuggling close to Zar. She yawned softly before curling up. She was ready to go to bed but it was still pretty early.

Nick braided the piece of her hair and let it go. “There. Ta da.” He mumbled with a slight smile. “I didn’t tie it in a total knot.”

"Hey Hailey, come over and look at this!" Victor said from his spot in the woods, smiling over at the girl.

Hailey looked when Victor called for her, moving over to him. It had been about 3 weeks since they started staying at the cabin and they had gone out for the day a few miles away just to explore a little bit more. She went over to see what Victor wanted to show her, giving a glance over at the one she had been keeping a very close eye on for past few weeks.

"Is that cooked?" Hunt asked, looking over the piece of steak they had brought along with them as dinner, frowning and showing it to Faye for a second opinion. The past few weeks have been okay for him, not the best. He hadn't freaked out again like that since that day, only a few mean words exchange between him and Nick, though he was quick to listen to Hailey or Ace when he told him he was being a little stinker and he shut up. His sleep and appetite had, however, not improved but he made a show of eating for his health and the others sake.

Cass was with Nick a little ways off from the others. She still couldn’t fly as strongly as the others and maneuver well in the air so he was working with her to help her improve while everyone else took it easy. Nick kept his distance from Hunt whenever possible, barely speaking to him unless he had to about food or whatever else. It was safer for them all since Hunt’s temper only seemed to be seriously set off by Nick.

Faye glanced over at the steak he was cooking. “Uhh no. Not quite. It shouldn’t be that red still. You want it maybe a bit pink in the center..” she explained as she got some of their other food ready so they could eat.

Ace chatted with Zar, helping a bit with the food but there wasn’t a lot to do. He kept a close eye on hunt, knowing he wasn’t eating or sleeping well so he was pretty worried.

Hunt looked at the parts that Faye was talking about, giving a little face of disgust as he got a closer look at it and he put it back into the fire to cook more.
"I hate cooking," he said, a cringy look on his face.

"I told you I could do it if you wanted," Zar said to Hunt from her spot, her being working on getting new water into everyone's bottle while Ace sorta out what everyone was gonna get for their dinner. It was getting pretty late though and, while most everyone was use to flying in all times and seasons, Cass and Victor both had been practicing their flying with Nick today so they might end up hanging around here for the night.

Faye smiled and nodded. “Exactly. We all offered to handle the meat and you could roast the veggies or something else but you said you’ve got this so we’re letting you try.” She shrugged. “You’re doing fine though, even if you don’t like it.”

Nick had spent some time working with both the younger kids and then just Victor so it was Cass’s turn now. He wanted to get them doing better at flying and moving around before trying to get them to fly more at night since it would benefit them all but he also knew that he couldn’t push them too much. They were still just young kids after all.

"I thought it would be a good idea. I was...very wrong," Hunt replied, not going to give it up now though. He was almost done...he hoped. If everyone was more hungry afterwards he would need to cook more up after all.

"You'll be fine, but at least now we know what job not to give you," Zar said from her spot, finishing putting the water in everyone jugs and closing everything up.

Faye nodded. “Yep. But it’s a good experience for you. Adds character right?” She teased him lightly as she finished up with getting the vegetables cooked.

Ace helped start getting some of the food distributed onto everyone’s plates, keeping them covered so no bugs or anything would get into them.

"Bleh," Hunt said, taking the meat out of the fire and setting it down on the plate he had been using to put all of his things. Most of the plates were done by now so mostly everyone could come and start eating."Hey! Food is almost done, come on!"

Hailey looked up when she heard Hunt call out, brushing the dirt off of her pants and helping Victor get up so he could get some food. She was sure the younger kids were starving at this point, all the flying they had done today.

Faye distributed the veggies onto the plates while hunt handled the meat.

Nick nodded when he heard them call out, letting Cass fly down and land before following after her. He landed easily and shook out his wings before letting them close and walking over to join the others. He took his plate. “Thanks for cooking.” He told them before moving back and sitting down a little away from them.

Hailey got Victor over and get him settled with a plate and some juice they had brought with him, not taking a plate however. Hunt had a little more cooking to do so she would take the last one.
"Zar, faye, go ahead and eat," she told them.

Zar, not one to argue, did as she was told, looking at Hailey.
"It's late. Are we gonna stay here tonight?" she asked.

Hailey looked to Nick for that answer, frowning when she didn't see him right away. Why was he sitting so far away?
"What say you? Settle down here for tonight?" she asked him.

Faye nodded and thanked Hunt before taking her plate and moving close to Zar. She started eating her food.

Nick had noticed that hunt tended to be a bit nicer to the others when he wasn’t nearby or in the conversation so he opted to keep his distance so the others would be better off. He glanced to Hailey. “Umm. We can. It’s not too far to get back to the house though. So I’ll leave that up to you to decide?” He offered.

(What exactly was our plan with Hunt? I tried to scroll back but I can’t find it. Wasn’t it something with him attacking nick and then running or ..?))

(( It was going to be a a fight and then they were gonna go to bed and the next morning when everyone woke up he was gone. While they were looking for him, they get attacked by the people from and school and it turns out Hunt is with them, like also attacking the Flock with these people. They have to run away cause they're getting their butts kicked and then he's gone with those people for a while. The fight kinda already happen though so I figure we can just have him be taken or go in the middle of the night. Cause it's a girl with mind control powers that's been making Hunt act weird for most of the time (: ))

Hailey nodded at his words, shrugging.
"I think camping out would be a good thing. We've been inside the cabin for a while after all, fresh air is good," she replied, looking to everyone else for their opinion.

"I'm pooped so that sounds great," Victor said around a mouthful of food.

"I like fresh air," Hunt said, examining a piece of meat as she said this and deciding that it was cooked enough.

Nick nodded slightly. “Alright.” He agreed simply before continuing to eat his food. “I’ll take first watch.” He assured, wanting to stay up a bit.

Ace nodded. “Sounds good to me.” He agreed, glancing at Hunt. He guessed he probably wasn’t gonna eat much again but he tried not to push the issue too much. Hunt didn’t seem weak from the lack of food or anything, just closed off and different.

"Alright then it's settled," Hailey replied, looking at the plate that Hunt offered to her, since he was all done cooking,"Thanks." She took it and went to go sit by Nick, not wanting him to be all my his lonesome.

Hunt nodded and cleaned up what he had been doing, moving over so he was sitting by Ace and giving him a small kiss on the cheek.

((Hmm. XD we have had a bit of a fight but maybe we could add more of maybe hunt gets up to leave while nick is keeping watch and they fight then before hunt bolts, cause then they probably wouldn’t think much of him being gone since he’s probably just cooling down until they see something later with him with the school or something? I dunno honestly.)

Nick nodded. He smiled gently at Hailey and shifted close to her while he ate his food. “The kids are getting better at flying. Still need to work more at night though.”

Ace smiled a bit. He turned his head and returned the kiss to his cheek before starting to eat his own food. “You’re not a half bad cook Hunt.” He complimented.

(( Oh I actually like that (: lets do it! I figure maybe no one wakes up while they're fighting and only Nick knows and he just decides to let him chill out, but maybe gets nervous when he doesn't come back by morning so he wakes everyone up? ))

"Yeah I saw, they looked like they were doing good. Victor's still a little bit stronger than Cass, but she's getting there. She stays up longer than he does," she replied.

"You better savor that meat cause I am never cooking it again," Hunt said with a chuckle, not having taken the last plate for himself just yet. He was putting it off as long as the others would let him.

Nick nodded. “Yeah. They’re both doing pretty good though. Certainly better than we did at that age.” He agreed, glancing at her.

Ace rolled his eyes. “Fine.” He agreed. He knew that Hunt probably was gonna try and avoid eating so he stabbed a piece of steak with his fork and offered it to him. They were just sharing a plate so it looked like Hunt ate a bit even if he didn’t eat more than a couple bites. Ace would help cover for him to keep the others off his back.

"Well they have a good teacher," Haley replied, nudging Nick gently with her shoulder.

Hunt smiled at him, looking at the meat that was offered to him. He didn't want to, but he took the piece into his mouth and began to chew, glancing around the woods around them.
"Even thought it's the same woods, it looks different then the one we were in before," he said.

Nick shrugged. “Yeah. Well It’s a bit easier to learn from other people with wings rather than just normal humans..” he answered, nudging her lightly.

Ace smiled faintly when he took the bite. It was a small victory but it counted. “Yeah. It does look kinda different. Maybe got burned or something. Who knows.” He shrugged.

"Very good points," Hailey replied with a smile over at him, taking a few bites of her food.

"Maybe, the ground looks a little worse for wear. The trees are just different I noticed. I think they're a different type," Hunt said, swallowing the food once he had chewed it up. He reached for his water and took a gulp of it, wanting to keep himself hydrated at least since he wasn't sleeping or eating well.

Nick nodded and kept eating quietly.

Ace shrugged. “Maybe. I don’t think I’ve paid that close of attention honestly.” He replied, looking at some of the trees. He shifted and rested his head on hunts shoulder. “I know you’re not hungry but you’ve got to eat a bit more.” He murmured faintly.

"I've been paying close attention to that stuff recently," Hunt said with a chuckle, looking at Ace when he leaned on him. Nodding at his words, he let out a small sigh."I know." He understood why he needed to eat, he needed it most out of them all since his metabolism was so darn high he burned through his energy so quick. Reaching over for the plate that was suppose to be for him, he took a big fork full of vegetables and meat and ate it, wanting to get it over with quick.

Ace nodded. He thanked him softly and kissed his beck when he picked up his plate and ate a bit. He didn’t try to push it too much but it looked like Hunt was starting to lose weight which was concerning. He had to try and take care of him.

Hunt smiled at him and was silent for pretty much the rest of the time as he ate his food, finishing it off when everyone else started to finish as well. He didn't feel particularly good about eating but, hey, he did it. He put his plate and all the trash he used in the trash bag they had brought along with them, planning to go dispose of it after everyone else had cleaned up.

Ace finished off his own food. He moved and helped him clean up everyone’s trash, not wanting him to do everything since he’d helped cook too. “Thank you for eating something Hunt.” He mumbled in his ear before kissing his cheek and stepping back.

Faye smiled faintly when she noticed Hunt actually eat all his food and then the affection between him and ace. They seemed to work pretty well together and were happy.

Hunt accepted the kiss that he got and smiled from the words. Even thought he really didn't like that he needed to eat just now, seeing Ace being happy that he did sorta made it worth it.
"I love you," he mumbled to him before he stepped back.

“I love you too cutie.” Ace answered with a smile, trying out the pet name just to see what reaction it would get. He figured he could be pretty upbeat and dorky, even more than he normally was, if it would make Hunt smile and keep him from getting more distant from them all.

Hunt smiled from the little nickname, a little blush appearing on his face when he heard it. It was cute, he liked it.

"They are disgustingly cute," Hailey said to Nick from their spot, watching the two boys with a smile on her face. Hunt always seemed to be in the best mood when he was with Ace, the other had really seeming to be helping him the past few weeks.

Ace grinned, considering the smile and blush a victory. He sat back down in his spot and kept an eye on him.

“A bit yeah. But this is better than like the sexual or romantic or whatever tension was between them. And they’re good for each other. Ace gets him to do stuff..” nick agreed softly, staying close to Hailey. “They’re definitely the most affectionate of our bunch though.”

Hunt kept on sitting with Ace, looking up at the sky as he was beginning to relax a little bit more. Although he couldn't often find sleep at night, he did take short naps throughout the day. Around now is when he would take one but he wasn't sure if he was tired yet.

"That is very true, that was really annoying," Hailey replied with a chuckle, finishing off her food,"But they are. I'm glad they aren't afraid to hide it around us anymore."

Ace yawned and wrapped an arm around him. He was a bit tired but would probably wait until it was a bit darker before trying to sleep or else he’d be up super early.

Nick nodded. “True. It’s nice that they feel comfortable with being affectionate and everything” he agreed softly.

Hunt noticed the yawn and smiled.
"Sleepy huh?" he asked, reaching over and poking his cheek a few times.

Hailey nodded, throwing away hers and Nick's trash since they were done with it.
"We're gonna have to go into town soon. We still have some of the food that Brandie left us, but our stash is pretty low," she said to Nick.

Ace smiled a bit and nodded. “Yeah. A bit.” He agreed quietly. “But I’m not ready to sleep yet.”

Nick nodded slightly. “Alright. We can maybe do a supply run tomorrow or something.” He agreed. “It shouldn’t take us too long or anything since it’s not far.”

"Okay. Do you maybe wanna go walk around a little bit with me?" Hunt asked with a smile, understanding if he wanted to just sit down and relax after eating though.

"Yeah, I made up a small list of the things that we already have," Hailey replied with a nod.

Ace shrugged. “Sure, we can go for a walk.” He agreed with a smile. He kissed his cheek before getting up.

“Okay. That’s good. From there we can figure out what we need to get.” He agreed quietly. Nick watched the others as they talked and relaxed a bit.

"Yeah," Hailey replied, noticing when Ace and Hunt rose,"Where are you guys going?"

"Just gonna go on a walk. We won't be too long," Hunt replied, grabbing the trash bag and closing it up. He would dispose of it while they were taking their walk.

Nick glanced over when he saw them get up but didn’t say a word. He nodded to their reply and looked around.

Ace nodded. “We won’t go too far. Don’t worry.” He assured Hailey with a gentle smile before taking Hunt’s hand and walking away with him.

"Okay be careful," Hailey replied to the both of them.

"Yup," Hunt replied, taking Ace's hand back and started walking with him towards the woods. He got more and more relaxed the further away from the group they got. They had been able to manage the tension pretty well but that didn't mean it still wasn't there, mostly between him and Nick of course.
