Faye congratulated Vic, cheering for him. She smiled a bit and glanced at the others, making sure they did alright.
Ace stayed back, letting Cass swim ahead for second place. She was getting tired but wasn’t going to give up.

Nick nodded slightly. “It’s only been a couple days. And I don’t wanna drag them off to yet another place while they’re pretty happy here and it seems safe.” He explained, shrugging st her and looking around.

Hunt also stayed right behind Cass, not in a hurry. He hadn't really been since the beginning honestly.

"Yeah makes sense. They sure do seem to like the area," Hailey replied with a nod, thinking it was a good area herself.

Cass came over to Faye, smiling a bit as she got second, even though she knew it had been thrown to her. She held onto Faye’s arm, catching her breath.

Ace stopped when he could stand, glancing at Hunt. “You good?” He asked faintly.



Nick nodded slightly. “Hopefully that cabin isn’t too far from here. This area seems pretty well secluded, which is certainly good for us.” He agreed, glancing over and watching the kids in the water.

"Good swim," Zar said to Cass, smoothing the girls hair back a bit.

Hunt was a bit more relaxed when he stopped swimming, looking at Ace when he asked that and shot him a smile.
"Of course," he replied, though he was ready to get the hell outta dodge.

Victor looked over, seeing Hailey and Nick by the water and frowned.
"Hailey, Nick! You guys should come in too," he called to them.

"Yeah that is a really good thing," Hailey replied, going to say more when Victor tried to call them into the water. She blinked at the young boy and offered a somewhat sheepish smile, not exactly wanting to participate in swimming.

Cass thanked her softly, smiling a bit. She looked around, still catching her breath.

Ace nodded slightly to him. “Alright. I was just checking.” He commented softly. He poked his side gently.

Nick nodded. He glanced to Vic. “Well see! Maybe in a few!” He called back to him. He knew Hailey wouldn’t get in the water but he wouldn’t mind joining the others for a bit.

Hunt nodded and smiled, looking at the other two when Victor called out to them. He grinned devilishly at Hailey when he saw that smile, remembering all too well what happened.
"Yeah Hailey, why don't you come in?" he said playfully.

Hailey looked at Hunt and frowned.
"I will drown you," she said back.

"But how can you do that when you're all the way over there and I'm in here?" Hunt asked back, wiggling his eyebrows a bit,"You'' have to come in here to do that."

Ace glanced between them before moving near the girls, going to stay out of it.

Nick rolled his eyes. “Would you like me to go drown him for you?” He offered to Hailey, smiling a bit. He didn’t want her being pressured to go into the water if she didn’t want to, not wanting her freaking out or anything.

"Oh no, I'll go in there and get him," she said, glancing down at the water for a second before blinking,"Eventually."

Nick looked back to Hailey and sighed. “Oh come on. We both know you don’t want to go in the water. I can easily handle him. Or even mess with him.” He commented quietly, thinking about how he could use his abilities to get close to Hunt and pull him under water or something.

Nick shrugged. “Just wait till he gets out of the water then.” He suggested softly, glancing at her. He smiled a bit at her. He wanted to go in the water for a bit with the others but also didn’t want to leave Hailey alone on the beach, liking to just spend some time with her.

Nick shrugged slightly. “I could. But I also like just being near you.” He commented, enjoying the chance to be around her without so much stress rather than everything that has been happening lately.

Hailey rolled her eyes at his words, but of course she was enjoying it as well.
"Well then take me in with you. We can go in together," she replied after a moment of hard thinking.

Nick raised an eyebrow, glancing over at her. “You sure?” He asked softly, surprised that she would go near the water at all, even with him right there with her. He sat up and stretched before glancing back to her again.

"Yeah....yeah, it's just....just water," Hailey said, looking down a the lake with another large frown. She shook her head though, standing up."Little water never hurt no one. I'm uh, gonna need your help though. I'm not exactly...the best swimmer."

Nick nodded to her. “It’s Okay. I’ll be right by your side the whole time.” He promised before getting up. “Go change into what you’d rather swim in?” He suggested. He grabbed a pair of shorts to go change into. He went and changed before coming back.

Hailey nodded slightly at him, watching as he went to go change. She looked back down at the water and sighed slightly, wondering why in the world she agreed to do it. When Nick got back, Hailey hadn't actually change into anything, just stripped down to her panties and sports bra. Pretty much what a bikini was anyways.

Nick came back, tugging off his shirt and folding it with his jeans. He left his clothes and shoes out of the way, looking hailey over and smiling a bit. “Ready?” He asked gently, not going to force or rush her into the water.

Hailey looked at Nick when he came back, nodding her head.
"Yeah I'm ready....you go in first though," she replied, motioning towards the water with her head.

"Do a cannonball Hailey!" Hunt called to the two of them from his spot in the water, where he was playing around with Victor.

"I'm gonna kill you when I get in this water you runt!" Hailey called back to him.

Ace glanced over at Hunt when Hailey replied, smirking a bit. “Ooooh. You’re in trouble now.” He taunted, splashing him lightly.

Nick nodded and went into the water, moving until it was up to his waist before stopping to wait for her. He ignored the others, focused on getting Hailey into the water and just helping her.

"She totally is gonna try to kill me too," Hunt said with a chuckle, looking at Ace when he splashed him,"I'll splash you harder."

Hailey waited for Nick to get in, biting her lip slightly when she realized it was her turn. Taking a deep breath, she got in slowly as well, thankfully it not being deep right near the edge. But she had watched Faye and Zar get in, knowing it got much deeper past just a few steps.

Ace nodded. “probably. So it was nice knowing you.” He teased with a bright smile, looking over at him. “Hopefully she’ll be nice and make it quick.”

Nick held his hand out to her, watching to make sure she didn’t freak out too much. “I’ve got you. Don’t worry.” He promised her faintly. He glanced at ace and Hunt, rolling his eyes. “careful or I might kill ya first!” He told Hunt.

Hunt laughed at Ace's words, watching Hailey's slow journey into the water. He knew why she was afraid though, he didn't blame her. He didn't like the water too much either. He looked at Nick when he spoke to him, still not in a playing mood with the other guy yet due to what happened earlier so he said nothing.

"No Ace, it'll be slow and painful," Hailey said, hearing the boys conversation. She managed to get in the lake, but as far as going deeper, that was where she needed Nick. She took his hand right as it was offered, going right over close to him and breathing a soft sigh of relief.

Nick rolled his eyes at Hunt before just shifting his focus back to Hailey. He wasn’t gonna deal with Hunt. It was a pointless argument and he didn’t want to rehash it out or anything with him. Nick squeezed haileys hand gently, smiling at her. “I’ve got you. How much deeper do you want to go?” He asked gently.

"We can go over with them. I just uh, need to hold onto you," Hailey replied, feeling pretty uncomfortable already. But dammit, she was gonna make it in the stupid water! Wasn't like she had a risk of drowning, Nick was right there along with 4 other capable swimmers. She'd be fine.

Nick nodded, holding onto her. “Alright. I’m not letting go.” He reassured her. He headed over to the others, gently leading Hailey. He took his time, not wanting to rush her or have her freak out in front of everyone.

Hailey nodded, walking through the water as much as she was able before it got too deep. She just held onto Nick after that, her hands on his shoulder and she blushed a bit because of just how close they needed to be doing this. But, oh well.

"Look who made it in," Zar said, looking over at Nick and Hailey with a smile.

Nick shifted and gently slipped his arm around Hailey’s waist. It was easier to hold her up that way for him. He glanced at the others and nodded. “We couldn’t let you guys have all the fun.” He commented, glancing back to Hailey and making sure she was okay.

Hailey let Nick do this, anything that was easier for him to keep her above water. She nodded at Zar, then looked over at Hunt and frowned.
"Now you you little runt, get over here so I can drown ya," she said.

Hunt blinked at her and quickly moved behind Faye (as if she would actually protect him), sticking his tongue out at Hailey.
"Nu-uh," he said with a shake of his head.

Nick fell quiet, holding Hailey gently but otherwise staying out of the middle. It was between her and Hunt and if he stepped in, it would just blow up in his face. He smiled faintly.

Faye glanced after Hunt before moving aside. “Nope. I’m not gonna be your shield. You’re on your own.” She teased, backing off and moving so she could watch them.

Ace swam back near Hunt, nudging his side. “You might wanna run?”

"Oh come on," Hunt complained at Faye, moving behind Ace instead,"Get away Hailey. If you move away from Nick, you don't know how to swim."

"As least if I go down with ya, I'll be the one he helps back up," Hailey said, glaring at him, playfully mind you.

"Now that's just rude," Hunt replied, nervous that she was actually gonna push him down in the water.

Faye simply shrugged, watching them all. She’d noticed that something seemed a bit off. She knew Hailey disliked the water so it made sense for her to be holding onto Nick but hunt had been swimming weird earlier too, not letting his head go under water or trying to hold his breath like the rest of them. Plus, they both seemed a bit nervous about what they were teasingly threatening. She didn’t intervene though, waiting to see what else was said.

Nick kept quiet, shrugging. He would obviously save them both though Hailey may have been a slightly higher priority to him. He didn’t say that though, knowing he shouldn’t be biased. They were all family.

Hailey and Hunt didn't say anything else for a few moments, just continued to glare at one another, seeing who would make the move first. It was, surprisingly, Hunt, who started swimming in the other direction.

"No no no, get back here!" Hailey said, actually moving away from Nick and starting after Hunt.

"I didn't think you'd actually let go of him!" Hunt yelled, swimming faster but, still, not letting his head under.

"I'm full of surprised. Now get back here!" she yelled back as she swam after him. Just, you know, another day for them.

"Out of everyone, I swear they chase each other around the most," Zar said from her spot, watching them.

"They like playing together," Victor said with a shrug, swimming circles around Zar.

Ace smiled and stayed back with the girls, watching them swim after each other.

Faye glanced at Zar. “Am I crazy or do they both act weird about being in the water?” She asked quietly when they took off, wanting to ask her while they were occupied and out of earshot.


Nick let Hailey go. He watched them before quietly swimming after them, just to stay closeby in case anything went wrong. He gave them enough distance to chase each other without him being in the way at all.

Zar looked at Faye when she asked that, shrugging.
"Well we all know Hailey is afraid of the water. And I guess Hunt has been a little weird too. I expected him to be more playful then he has been," she replied, taking note herself that hadn't dunked his head under yet.

"Hailey I swear to Jesus, it was just a joke!" Hunt yelled to Hailey, hearing her getting closer to him.

"Uh huh, yeah joke," Hailey called back, managing to catch him pretty easily actually. However, stopping her swimming to get his arm was a mistake and she had a bit of trouble treading the water, especially with one hand.

Hunt noticed this and put a hand on her waist to keep her up while she held onto his arm.
"For the love of all that is good, do not push me," he said, still trying to appear playful, but he was pretty nervous.

Hailey didn't push him in though, just splashed him a few times.
"Don't you tease me about swimming you brat. I can do it just fine," she replied, as she was, you know, needing to hold onto someone so she didn't drown.

Faye nodded slightly. “Yeah. It just seems kinda weird.” She commented. “It’s not a big deal. Just weird.”

Nick stopped when they did, watching hailey worriedly but Hunt was helping her so he stayed back and didn’t interfere. He treaded water easily. At some point, nick knew he’d actually have to work things out with Hunt but didn’t know quite what was necessary to actually work it out.

"Yeah. Who knows, maybe Hunt doesn't like swimming either," Zar replied, thinking of the possibility.

"Okay okay, no more teasing. Got it, sure," Hunt replied, wiping the water that Hailey splashed on in off his face,"God I didn't think you'd actually chase me."

"Well I did. Now you know that I'll come getcha if I need to," Hailey replied, moving her arm off of Hunt and swimming back over to Nick, doing her best. She was mostly doing a very bad doggy paddle.

“Maybe.” Faye agreed with a shrug. She kept watching them as they both stopped and seemed to call a truce.

Nick looked around before back to her, swimming over when she started towards him. He held his arm out to her and gently pulled her close once he could reach her. “You alright?” he asked to make sure. He glanced back at Hunt as well to make sure he was fine.

"We can always ask him if we're that curious," Zar replied with a shrug, smiling at Victor who was still swimming around her.

Hailey went right into Nick's arms when he moved them, holding onto him.
"Yeah I'm fine," she replied, letting out a deep breath. She was surprised she actually managed to do that without drowning...good on her she supposed.

“Yeah. I doubt he’d admit it though.” Faye shrugged slightly and glanced at Ace who had swum off on his own, diving underwater and heading towards hunt.

Ace surfaced from the water behind Hunt, smirking a bit since he didn’t think he’d been noticed. He watched him and waited.

Nick held her up gently. He nodded to her. “Good job. You swam pretty good just then.” He complimented softly, smiling at her.

"Good point. He's not very good at doing that sometimes," Zar replied.

Hunt didn't notice him at first, just looked in the direction of the others. It was only when he went back a bit and happened to graze against him that he noticed and gasped, turning around.
"Jesus Ace!" he exclaimed,"How long have you been back there?"

"Pretty sure I swam like a child, but thank you for the compliment besides," Hailey said with a small laugh.

Faye nodded. “Exactly. They all have issues with admitting weakness.” She commented.

Ace grinned when hunt finally noticed him. “A few minutes. I swam over and have been chilling, just waiting for you to pay attention to me.” He explained, watching him for a moment.

Nick shrugged. “So, it worked. You stayed afloat.” He commented. “There’s nothing saying you have to be graceful about it.” He added, holding her still. He didn’t head back towards the others right away.

"Well...you are a jerk for that," Hunt said with a chuckle, smiling at him though. He really had had enough of the water though and he motioned out."I think I've had enough. I'm probably a huge prune by now."

"Yeah I suppose I did, huh?" Hailey said with a smile, not minding that Nick wasn't moving anywhere quite yet.

Faye nodded slightly to her. “Oh well. Guess they’ll keep it as their secret.” She commented softly.

Ace rolled his eyes at him. “Fine hen. Guess you better get out before you turn into a complete prune.” He agreed with a slight shrug, smiling at him. “Ok come with ya.”

Nick nodded, “Yep. So you did good.” He complimented, leaning close and lightly kissing her cheek.

"You don't need to, you can stay in," Hunt said, not wanting to rain on his parade. He just had far enough swimming for, well, a lifetime really. But he imagined he would be coursed into swimming at some point or another soon enough.

Hailey blushed slightly at that small kiss, smiling.
"Thanks," she said, remaining close to Nick and holding onto him.

Ace shrugged slightly. "I don't mind being with you." He assured faintly, glancing at him. He pushed his hair out of his face, smiling gently at Hunt. He stayed close to him.

Nick smiled brightly. "You're welcome.." He said quietly, holding her gently. "Want to head back to shallower water?"

"Well alright," Hunt replied with a smile, swimming over to the edge of the lake. He pulled himself out, his muscles seeming to relax right away as he was now out of the water. Finally.

Hailey smiled at him, then shook her head.
"No we can go back over with the others. We can all this way in here, might as well have some kinda fun with them," she replied.

Ace swam after him, noticing how he immediately relaxed once he was out of the water. He got out and came close to him. "You alright?" He asked gently. He looked him over quietly.

Nick nodded slightly to her, "Alright. You get to lead the way then." He said faintly, wanting her to have the chance to swim a bit more.

"Yeah I'm good," Hunt replied with a small smile in his direction, shaking some of the water off himself. They didn't exactly have towels to dry themselves with right now...so it was just a waiting game. Good thing the sun was still out.

"Okay," Hailey replied a bit hesitantly, slowly letting go of Nick. She was still nervous about the water, but he was right there if she needed him. So she started back towards the others, taking it slow.
