Hello! I am in Scotland, but currently working in Finland. Are there any books to start off with you would recommend? I like fantasy :)

(I moved this topic to another folder, so it would be easier to find later.)Hello and welcome!
Unfortunately I know even less about fantasy than I know about scifi, so I am hoping others could help you more. I do know that there are many Finnish authors who write speculative fiction, dubbed "Finnish Weird", so you might search for that. Leena Krohn and Johanna Sinisalo are a couple of the more well known authors. There are also some recommendations in other topics and posts in this folder. And of course if you live in a bigger town, the library network will probably have a good selection of Finnish literature that has been translated.
There isn't that much Finnish fantasy which has been translated into English, but there are at least The City of Woven Streets by Emmi Itäranta, Fathoms of the Fenlake by Ante Aikio and Fargoer by Petteri Hannila. I haven't read any of those myself, though, so I don't know how good they are.One Finnish book I have read and enjoyed (and which has been translated into English) is Happy Days of the Grump by Tuomas Kyrö.
Pasi Ilmari Jääskeläinen is also an author you might enjoy if you're into fantasy. I've read The Rabbit Back Literature Society in Finnish and liked it. I've been intending to read more of his books but haven't had time yet.
