SOLVED. Fiction about caves, underwater rivers, twin scientists and a gorilla. [s]

At the beginning a cave is discovered after a group of earthquakes in a mountainous area. The people exploring the cave are trapped inside (I believe one is a priest but not sure, another is a twin whose sister takes care of a gorilla?, and like always their is a strong idiot with them). Something was stolen from a room near the entrance to the caves which is why the entrance was blown up trapping them inside. The priest? finds clues to more 'treasures' behind a wall of the cave. They have to find their way out through a maze of tunnels and underground riverways.
