Summertime and the living is easy BUT...there's nothing like fall/winter for cozy, dark and stormy full-on mystery reading. That said, when should we go back to full length mysteries? Should we? If so, Sept or Oct? We've July and August for shorts and possibly Sept. Let's vote and maybe early Aug. start shopping new fall mystery reading matter??

September or October or stick to shorts, PI's? Your call. I'm good with returning to full length stories, Sept. or Oct. fine with me.

Immediately what came to mind was Lucy Stone and those cupcakes, lol.

LOL I was thinking Lucy Stone, hoping they come out with a great Halloween or fall mystery. Author usually does seasonal mysteries right.

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments The new Mitford book comes out at the end of October! Wish it was coming out earlier.

Tina, the only new Lucy this year is Silver Anniversary Murder. The Halloween book she has coming out is a re-release.

Thanks, Nicole. Silver Anniversary book sounds like a summery read. I'm holding out for a true autumny, fall read. ;-).

Anyone recall which Lucy Stone fall mysteries we've discussed in The Parlor? I lost track but I don't think we covered them all. That said, I wouldn't mind discussing those we didn't host yet for this Sept. or Oct. I've read them all but would re-read and discuss ones we've missed in The Parlor. Just a thought should nothing good release in autumn lineup.

So, while scoping landscape for Sept./Oct., I found a title called The Halloween House due out late-July. As not to confuse, I believe title was used some years ago on a book that had little to do with Halloween.

This is the only one on my Kindle, so I assume we've discussed it here: English Tea Mystery.

I think we did Trick or Treat Murder recently, the one that dealt with the arsonist. I also think we did Candy Corn Murder.

There is one about 8 years ago called the Wicked Witch Murder, which doesn't sound familiar and I don't think we read it.

There is a new on coming in September, but probably in hardback at that point.

Thanks for the rundown, Pghfan. If we didn't discuss Wicked Witch Murder, then it sounds like a possibility. I believe I read it years ago but also don't remember discussing it.

Hopefully some new material releases 'tween now and late Aug. voting. Thanks again!

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments Are we still on for the short stories next month? By Agatha?

Yes, Nicole. We are looking at four Miss Marple stories, one a week, through July. "Strange Jest", "Tape-Measure Murder", "The Case of the Caretaker", and "The Case of the Perfect Maid". I plan to host, if that is fine with y'all. Looking to start July 1st, with Strange Jest.
