Ismael Honestly, I anticipated this book to be boring and not a good read it turned out to be better than expected. This is due to the perspective in which Howard Zinn retells these historical events. He recounts historical events from the point of view of “the people” rather than he usual “heroes.” For instance, chapter one is about Christopher Columbus and his “discovery” of America but told from the perspective of the Natives already in America who were enslaved and killed. Howard Zinn writes about details that are often times omitted or overlooked. As a result, this book is more interesting than I thought it would be because I’m learning new things and seeing historical events and figures in a different way.
