Leviathan Wakes
question
Flawed heroes

I'm searching for new books that have flawed protagonists. By this I mean, for example, the character of detective Miller in the first expanse book. You figure he is your typical detective character but by half way through you realise he's not as sharp as he thinks and he can no longer afford to be as clean morally.
When I'm searching, all I come up with are specifically anti-heros rather than the flawed or weak characters I'm looking for. I'd like characters who are not classicly as good as their peers but succeed via other means. Or fail, which might make a better story.
Looking hopefully for sci-fi/fantasy stories.
If this is the wrong place to post, maybe someone can direct me to a good internet forum to ask at.
Thanks.

Take a look at the Thomas Covenant series by Stephen Donaldson. The first book is Lord Foul's Bane.
Or if you don't mind some humour The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett.
