Kara | 1 comments What is this month's (May's) book? This is my first time participating, and I've looked around and can't find a schedule. Thanks!

Killer Clown about John Wayne Gacy. The authors name escapes me at the moment.

Mel (gingergonzoreads) | 652 comments Mod
Yes ma’am! Peter is going to do an announcement video today or tomorrow

message 55: by Jen (new)

Jen (jncahill) OK, cool. Leaving the country in a few days so I guess I will go ahead and order it and hopefully get it once I get back :)

Heres hoping 2023 brings me good books, good times and good wine but especially wine. | 2 comments ohh right up my alley ... totally ordering from my library .. gotta show my library some lovin !

Emmie.Reads.Books | 95 comments For those who saw Peter's video, I found a playlist of the audiobook of Helter Skelter. I'm not sure how great the quality is or how long it will be available, but if it could save someone some $$ why not?

Kayla (mrsjeune0518) | 54 comments May's Book is Lost Girls by Robert Kolker.

message 59: by Kari (new)

Kari (kn5274) | 8 comments Hi everyone. I’m new to goodreads and joining the book club. I look forward to Reading along with this group and catching up.

message 60: by Kayla (new)

Kayla (mrsjeune0518) | 54 comments Welcome Kari! it's a pleasure to have you here with us. ❤

message 61: by Kari (new)

Kari (kn5274) | 8 comments Thanks Kayla 📚

message 62: by Anita (new)

Anita Hello there :) So I just stumbled up this book called "The Sun Does Shine: How I Found Life and Freedom on Death Row" by Anthony Ray Hinton. I think it would quite an interesting read

message 63: by Megan (new)

Megan (merlins_beard) American Predator: The Hunt for the Most Meticulous Serial Killer of the 21st Century by Maureen Callahan will be released July 2nd, if anyone is interested.

message 64: by Savanna (new)

Savanna Langan | 2 comments hello, I am new to goodreads and a book club in general, can't read true crime books but look forward to the next schedule.

message 65: by A (new)

A | 23 comments Hey can we discuss finding another book on Manson?ive read helter skelter which I think is good but it is the viewpoint of the prosecutor. I saw the Tarantino movie Once Upon a Time and I think it will renew interest in manson. And there’s so many other interesting bits of info I found out that aren’t in helter skelter. Would be great if there was another more independent author.

message 66: by A (new)

A | 23 comments Also I love that it’s gonna be true crime only

message 67: by Frank (new)

Frank Bradley I'll also throw in a suggestion to step back from serial killers and into politics with All the President's Men. It's a book I've personally always had on my list to read. It also has a great film adaptation as supplemental content for the month.

We are intending to explore all aspects of true crime. Right now we are in the midst of the Summer of serial killers . 🙂

Frank Bradley Mel wrote: "We are intending to explore all aspects of true crime. Right now we are in the midst of the Summer of serial killers . 🙂"

Sounds great!

message 70: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Kuehl | 18 comments Would anyone be interested in reading The Killer Across the Table?

message 71: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (cooksalot) | 60 comments I have that book on my tbr list.

message 72: by AngiesWorld (new)

AngiesWorld | 15 comments I think we should read about Griselda or Pablo Escobar’s life! Maybe someone from the Italian Mob as well. Also Stephen King rocks! Any book we pick of his I’ll be down for!

message 73: by Claudia (new)

Claudia | 2 comments The Good Nurse (I'm new to the communit y not sure where our suggestions should be posted...alot of threads suggesting "suggestions" or next reads) so not sure where the current thread is to post. Thank you for the opportunity to recommend a book. You got me reading again

message 74: by Kayla (new)

Kayla (mrsjeune0518) | 54 comments I'm down for Griselda as well.

message 75: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Latimer | 13 comments I'd like to suggest Justice: Crimes, Trials, and Punishments by Dominick Dunne.
Dominick Dunne wrote about the true crimes of the rich and famous, very, very thinly disguised as fiction.
He was a prolific writer; you might want to look him up and see what you think.

Ania🐰📚🍄🐛 | 81 comments Killer Across the Table was so good!

Ania🐰📚🍄🐛 | 81 comments Killer Across The table was the same author as Mindhunter but a more recent book of his.
The audio version was awesome! The narrator is the actor that plays Mindhunter in the show and at the end of the audiobook he interviews the FBI serial killer profiler/ author.
It was I’ll be Gone in The Dark level.

Emma ( Mrsbreads ) | 13 comments Could we read try talking with serial killers by Christopher berry dee

message 79: by Stefanie (new)

Stefanie Nichols | 1 comments I think She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story that Helped Ignite a Movement sounds fascinating and is the disgusting true crime story of how the Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment saga was revealed...it’s on my tbr anyway but would be an interesting topic of discussion for the group!

message 80: by Jen (new)

Jen (jncahill) Unbelievable could be a good pick considering Netflix is doing a series based on the case.

message 81: by Carlie (new)

Carlie Scoville I’m not sure if this has been mentioned yet, I just finished the latest Crime Junkie podcast and now I’m really wanting to read “on the farm” by Steve Cameron.

message 82: by AngiesWorld (new)

AngiesWorld | 15 comments I’m not sure if this had been suggested yet but what about Limetown? I’m listening to a podcast covering that story and it is insane what happened.

message 83: by Ebb (new)

Ebb (ebbsbooks) 2020 Suggestions:

Hell's Princess The Mystery of Belle Gunness, Butcher of Men by Harold Schechter The Radium Girls The Dark Story of America's Shining Women by Kate Moore Lady Killers Deadly Women Throughout History by Tori Telfer Kitty Genovese A True Account of a Public Murder and Its Private Consequences by Catherine Pelonero

message 84: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Latimer | 13 comments Radium Girls is an incredible book and what happened to those girls is a horrible crime.
Thank you for suggesting it, BB.

message 85: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 5 comments I think The Only Plane in the Sky: An Oral History of 9/11 by Garrett Graff would be a good choice for this group.

message 86: by Cami (new)

Cami Castle | 8 comments I want to suggest In with the Devil by Jimmy Keane. It sounds fascinating. It's about a guy who goes into prison trying to get convictions from a serial killer.

message 87: by Cami (new)

Cami Castle | 8 comments Confessions, is what I meant, stupid auto correct.

message 88: by B. (new)

B. Goodwin | 2 comments All of these are good books. I'd be remiss if I didn't an award-winning, reasonably short, easy read with some big ideas. It's called Never Too Late: From Wannabe to Wife at 62. Never Too Late: From Wannabe to Wife at 62 Take a look and see if it meets the criteria.

message 89: by Mel (new)

Mel (gingergonzoreads) | 652 comments Mod
B, this is a true crime book club. 🙂

message 90: by B. (new)

B. Goodwin | 2 comments Oops! My bad. Marrying Richard was not a crime. Getting married at 62 is not a crime. No criminals were harmed in the making of Never Too Late: From Wannabe to Wife at 62.

message 91: by Shelby (new)

Shelby Beuerle | 19 comments Sins of the Mother could be an interesting read since everyone found If You Tell so captivating

message 92: by Melody Leigh (new)

Melody Leigh | 90 comments Can I suggest: The Murders at White House Farm
Jeremy Bamber and the Killing of His Family. The Definitive Investigation.
By: Carol Ann Lee

Very creepy but interesting story. Also he keeps trying to get out as well.

message 94: by Nikki (new)

Nikki (nikkicraddock) | 42 comments Have y’all decided on April’s book? I’m just asking because Amazon is only sending out essential orders and book stores around my area are shutting down. I’d like to be able to place a book order before everything is shut down!!! Thanks!

Ania🐰📚🍄🐛 | 81 comments Molly’s Game by Molly Bloom. Peter announced it in his vlog.

message 96: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 44 comments I think it’s fun to watch the movie after I read the book, looking forward to Molly’s game! Are we doing a group documentary too? I’m down for that too

message 97: by Bennie (new)

Bennie | 3 comments Don't pay the ransom - I escaped!! Just kidding. I'm back after a five week hiatus to Madagascar to do some coral reef and sea turtle conservation. Looking forward to April's discussion. Hope everyone is hanging in there with all the life changing events we are facing.
