Probably read in late 90's - early 2000's. At some point in the story, everyone in the room had the same countdown timer so he knew that there would be a (plane) accident..? and everyone in that room would die. another bit - he was walking in public and saw a healthy-looking person who had very little time to live
I was into Stephen King/Dean Koontz at that time- Have gone thru SK's entire published history and this story isn't jumping out at me.
