5)Burning Fields by Alli Sinclair (historical romance) Source: Net Galley Started: 5/13 Finished: 5/17
Why Read: The author contacted me. My co-blogger reviewed one of her books. It looked interesting. It was about a female MC in Australia who had lived on her own in Brisbane during WWII and is having trouble being on the family farm again post-war.
Comments: I really liked the independent heroine. The book also deals with prejudice against immigrants. I gave it a B+. See my review at http://wwwbookbabe.blogspot.com/2018/...
6)Stone Mad by Elizabeth Bear (steampunk fantasy) 181 pages. Source: Library Started: 5/17 Finished: 5/19
Why Read: This is the sequel to Karen Memory which was an entertaining read.
Comments: Plotwise it wasn't much good, but I liked the MCs. Rating B-
7)Bum Deal by Paul Levine (mystery) Source: Wiley got the publisher to approve me for a Net Galley ARC. Started: 5/19 Finished: 5/20
Why Read: The previous book was excellent, so I was looking forward to this one.
Comments: Defense attorney Lassiter was prosecuting which was different, but seemed to me like a gimmick compared to the raw honesty of the previous book. There were lots of plot twists, so I consider it a good mystery, but not a great one. Rating B. See my review at http://shomeretmasked.blogspot.com/20...
Why Read: A woman whose life is centered on animals sounds very interesting.
Comments: Her father worked for the U.S. Forest Service. She was brought up in the wilderness where her father worked. I loved the way she thought about animals. Rated A. See my review at http://shomeretmasked.blogspot.com/20...
