Foundations of Democracy in the United States of America Writings from 1760 to 1774 - Revolution (#4) by Shawn Henry Potter
We hope you will get your copy of Foundations of Democracy in the United States of America: Writings from 1760 to 1774 – Revolution, and write an honest review on the Amazon web page https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08...

This is book 4 in a 12-volume series that highlights two important points: (1) America’s founders were inspired by the Judeo-Christian understanding that God created all people equal and endowed them with certain unalienable rights, and (2) the founders included a broader circle of people than many realize – white, black, men, women, rich, and poor.

To the second point, the dialogue about equality among people from every segment of American society was decisive. It encouraged all Americans to examine the meaning of equality in a way that most other countries have not. Can a common understanding of the shared heritage of whites and blacks in America promote peace today? We hope so.

You do NOT need a Kindle to read this ebook! You can read it on any computer, tablet, or mobile device using Amazon's free Kindle app available here: https://www.amazon.com/kindle-dbs/fd/kcp

David Knott | 39 comments The Psalm 23 Life: Experiencing the Love of God Every Day

Hello everyone, my name is David Knott, and I've just published my new book, and so it is great to find a group like this.

I am a new Christian author, but I have been a Bible teacher for over thirty years. I responded to the call to follow Jesus when I was an engineering student, and I worked for a world leading aerospace company for thirty-nine years. I have an internal drive to understand, whether it is the physics of aerodynamics, or the nature of our relationship with God.

Thanks for the opportunity to flag up my new book to you. My hope and prayer is that it will be food for the soul in these uncertain times.

Psalm 23 stands as an eternal testimony to the transforming power of God’s love. The Psalm 23 Life shines a new light upon that testimony, so that King David’s experience of God’s love may become our experience too.

The Psalm’s very familiarity helps us in times of need, but that same familiarity can also cause its deep truths to skim across our minds rather than enter our hearts. This book enables us to look at the familiar with new eyes, helping us to more deeply understand, apply and experience its truths… not just in the hard times, but in our everyday life. Such is, The Psalm 23 Life.

Through careful study of the scriptures, illustrated with insights, stories and practical applications for modern life, The Psalm 23 Life opens the door to a life lived in joyful confidence and contentment, through experiencing the love of God every day.

There is a little more background in my blog:

Mary Detweiler (mdetweiler) | 32 comments My new book, When Success Isn’t Enough, is now available as a print book and as an E-book. Excerpt: “The choices and decisions we make are determined by the lens through which we view reality. Each of us, whether we are aware of it or not, views reality through a lens comprised of values and beliefs about ourselves and our world. The values and beliefs that comprise our lens have their roots in what we were taught and what we experienced in the family and culture we grew up in. Though we may not be aware of our lens, it is most definitely there, and it works powerfully. It filters what we see and determines what we think about what we see. This includes how we define success.”

Paperback edition is $14.99. E-book is $7.49.

message 62: by Hearty (new)

Hearty | 6 comments Hi. I am the assistant to author, Mike Kastle. Today he just released Servants & Spies: Exploits From The Covert Mission Field. a non-fiction Christian book.

Servants & Spies shares many stories, from riveting run-ins with foreign-powers to first-hand accounts of modern miracles. It shows how God has a plan for us that He has already placed deep in our hearts and has set into motion. He uses everything, not because of our talents and skill, but because of His finished work on the cross. Together, we see how God’s purpose and plan for our work with Him develops in our lives using real-life examples from the very beginning of a ministry to its most fruitful stages.

Don Milam, Acquisitions Consultant with Whitaker House wrote an endorsement for the book saying:
Servants & Spies reads like a thrilling novel.  However,  it is anything but fiction.  What might have been the sound of an exploding bullet, Mike Kastle’s story begins with a bang quickly drawing the reader into a fascinating plot combining intrigue with inspiration.  Kastle’s adventures in a Marxist world are not the typical life of most missionaries.  Danger lurks around every corner, but his experiences also include the opportunity to influence China with the secret message of Jesus. His stories are compelling and genuine, illustrating in vivid detail the difference one can make when he dedicates his life to God’s purposes.  What you spend to purchase this book will quadruple in value with each page you read.

Wm. Wells (wmwwells) | 8 comments I am new to goodreads. I have just released my second book: A Cult Challenge to the Church, answering the question "why would I join a cult?" I was a member of Sun Myung Moon's Unification Church in the '70's and early '80's. There are actually things to like about them, and things to dislike about Christians. I discuss that, and why I am now a Christian for real.

Thanks for sharing my joy over my new daily devotional, Kingdom Road. How supportive of you to order a copy, even though you're just starting Holy Spirit Whispers. As we know, taking a slower pace with these kinds of books allows more room for personal reflection and interaction with the Spirit. So I'm glad you take time for that as I also try to do.

Kari Cope | 7 comments Hello, everyone!

I recently published a Christian devotional book in which I apply literary analysis to biblical motif. Here's a description:

There's Always Water in the Wilderness walks readers through a close textual analysis of the biblical motifs of wells and wilderness, prompting greater delight in the beauty of the written Word and expanded understanding of its truths and their application. Each of the chapters dealing specifically with the motifs includes suggested biblical readings, allowing readers to more readily engage in the close reading process.

There’s Always Water in the Wilderness offers us hope that “our own wilderness wanderings are not purposeless,” because in and even through them, we are offered Living Water that meets our deepest need.

Jezanie Warjri | 1 comments Hi everyone,

I am a first time author and my book 'In The Midst Of It All: Depression and the Bible Verses That Got Me Through" is penned from my personal experience and struggle with depression. Back then, when I first experienced depression, I had no idea it was depression because of the many misconceptions I had myself believed. It went untreated for many years and I thought it was because I was slowly losing my sanity. I had depression related problems like sleeping problems and poor concentration. One day I decided to save Bible verses on my phone and whenever I had a depressive episode, I would go to my phone or the Bible, open up those verses and read them to myself. Bible verses got me through the most difficult of nights. The book is an honest account of my struggle, the Bible verses I read and it explores certain emotions and thoughts most people with depression go through.

My hope is the book help others like me. You can find it here https://amzn.to/3eFUFux

Claire McGarry | 4 comments Hi Everyone!

It's wonderful to be part of this group! Thanks for the opportunity. I too am an author and speaker. I love all the inspirational books that are shared here. They're all so necessary with all the stress and chaos that exist in the world today.

On that note, I'd love to share about my book that came out in November. Grace in Tension: Discover Peace with Martha and Mary is my attempt to bring grace and peace into the world.

Reflecting on the story of Martha and Mary in Luke 10, I compare their struggles with the ones we experience today. I also give practical tips and strategies for overcoming them. Over the course of the book I discuss drawing healthy boundaries, trimming back the extras, deferring to a different season, preventing comparison, asking for help, valuing self-care, etc. - all the things that most people struggle with.

To further equip and empower people, I share my G-I-F-T acronym. It's a process where we G-Gauge what our stress is, I-Invite it in, F-Filter through it with God's loving eyes and T-Transform it into grace at the feet of Jesus. My hope is it helps readers find grace in their tension, and inspires them to carry out their Martha tasks with a Mary heart.

Here's a link so you can read the summary, endorsements and reviews. https://amzn.to/3rbGFzf Thanks so much!

Blessings and books,

Claire

This one deals with the 7th commandment: do not commit adultery. Touchy topic, but as the title of the book reveals... this is more so about love, about being faithful than about adultery! The subtitle reads: Embracing the challenge to pursue faithful relationships.
