I just love that you mention a creative partnership with the Holy Spirit, this is what He loves to do! As I said in my other reply, maybe you could share a poem with us, so people can get a taste of your writing.... I am curious.

Lisa Lynn aka Carole Lisa Lynn Gilbert (facebookcomcarolelisalynngilbert) | 4 comments I wrote this book, “Unraveled, Time to Tell,” for inspiration to the reader. It is a true story of how God is alive and active in our lives. It gives examples and verses from the Bible that go along with everything we experience. It starts with my mom’s murder. Yes, this book is about me and all the secrets my husband and I kept from our children and everyone but more than that, it’s about God. If you feel alone, need encouragement, or just enjoy a non-fiction book full of secrets, survival, tragedy, and truth from God, I hope you’ll check this book out!? I’ll be praying for you!

Jason | 2 comments Dear fellow Christian Nonfiction readers,

I am a new member of this group (thank you, Marja, for telling me how to join!) and I wanted to let you know about a book I have just published. It is called “The Rational Faith: A Review of the Evidence for Christianity” (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08P8NKSPB), and it uses a series of arguments (scientific, logical, historical, etc.) to demonstrate that Christianity is true.

I spent five years writing it, in the hope that it would be a useful resource both for Christians seeking to defend their faith, and for sceptics wanting to consider the evidence for themselves. It has been reviewed by a number of scientists and scholars for accuracy, and I would welcome any questions you might have about it. It is presently available both in paperback and kindle editions, and I hope you find it of interest!

I'm running a promo on my book, Facing Life's Challenges Head On. Here's the blurb:

Are you overwhelmed by anxiety, fear, and doubt? Unable to overcome guilt, temptation, and rejection? Do you feel like a failure because you’ve compromised too often, or can’t quit comparing yourself to others? I have too. So have many of God’s people. Anxiety plagued Paul. Fear paralyzed Elijah. Even John the Baptist doubted. Allow me to share my stories and show you how Biblical characters defeated these demons, and how you can too. Free yourself from all that weighs you down, and live the life God has planned for you!

Sidney James | 1 comments Faith - Seventy Times SevenHello Everyone.
My name is Sidney St. James and I don't post much on Goodreads, but as a member of this group I wanted to introduce myself. I am an elder in the First Presbyterian Church in Texas. I have also written over fifty novels and books, including one that is local history called The First 100 Years of the Presbyterian Church. When I finished writing my third novel "Faith - Seventy Times Seven" I struggled with "Forgiveness". That struggle has never gone away. So, I wrote what I think is a moving story and an answer to my struggles, a fiction novel, a story of a young man struggling with believing in the Bible. The story will answer, "Does One Have to Believe in the Bible to be a Christian?" The story has a setting in an area known as Spicewood, Texas 30 miles Northwest of Austin. Seeing the Power of God

message 82: by Don (new)

Don Boudreaux (don4truth) | 6 comments Greetings in the name of Jesus to all. Though I joined the group and introduced myself several weeks ago in the intro topic, I am glad to be a part of this group. I am a lover of Jesus, a Vietnam combat veteran, a proud husband, father, and grandfather, a prophetic minister for over 30 years, and as of April of this year, a new, published author through Redemption Press, a Christian publisher. Thirty years ago, the Lord told me to write a book, but I was so surprised by Him telling me this that I asked that He would confirm this word for me. So, around thirty years later(lol!), He caused a prophetess, whom I’d never met, to tell me that it was time for me to write that book.

So, I wrote a book where I Chronicle many of my experiences in the Vietnam War and correlate those experiences to scripture and to many realities of spiritual warfare for Christians. Since I became a believer in 1975, my wife and I have experienced extraordinary attacks from Satan in enumerable areas, so I came to realize that once a person becomes a believer, the war is on. I also came to understand from the Lord that one of His big reasons for sending me to Vietnam—though I was not a Christian then—was so that He could teach me about war and how to connect that physical reality to the vital reality of spiritual war against the devil.

So, in my book, Vietnam and Christianity, I expound on how Satan attacks and I try to encourage believers to pick up their spiritual sword (the Word of God) and truly “fight” Satan with the authority that Christ has given to us. For instance, when I discuss the weapons of prayer and intercession, I correlate an experience where the sound of a certain weapon is like a thump on the devil’s head. I also discuss a story where our troop was under attack once and we were saved by a gunship helicopter which brought aerial support for our guys. But I then correlate that story to how the Lord uses angels at times to fly in, as it were, to help in times of difficult trials in our lives, and I also share experiences that I’ve had with angels during my walk with Christ.

I also explain the use of other weapons against Satan by boldly discussing prophetic ministry and the use of other spiritual gifts, the power of forgiveness, the effectiveness of speaking forth scripture to knock down demonic strongholds, and the powerful aid of relying on other believers for help against Satan’s schemes. I also share a great deal of my personal testimony including my struggles and victories over Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and how the Lord continues to work wonderfully in my life to deliver me of this condition.

My primary aim in writing the book is to cause believers to be encouraged that they truly have God-given weapons to fight and defeat Satan even though times and trials are difficult for us as children of God. I also wrote the book to encourage military veterans and current military personnel to either be strengthen and encouraged in the Lord or to turn to Him for the first time. Finally, I deeply want and pray that many unbelievers read this book and are drawn by the Holy Spirit to turn from their sins and embrace the love, beauty, and power found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

If you are interested in helping me promote the book, please visit and like my Facebook page shown below, or if you would like to read and review the book for me, please shoot me an email and I’ll send you a free eCopy or paperback copy. May the Lord bless and strengthen all who read the book, in the mighty name of Jesus.

Hi Denise,

Good to hear from you. I've just taken some time to check out your book description and blog. Thanks so much for providing those links. They help us to get to know you and where you're coming from spiritually.

As our group name suggests, this book club is specific to exploring Christian spirituality rather than being more broadly spiritual or self-discovery oriented. Here, we're all about encouraging a personal relationship with God in Christ. That's why we only highlight authors and books along those lines.

Please know you are welcome to explore what we believe here, Denise. Though we may focus on differing kinds of spirituality, we hope you'll find the biblical books and topics we discuss to be meaningful and enlightening to your journey.

All the best,
Susan

message 87: by Linda (new)

Linda Kurth (lindamkwriter) Greetings, book lovers! I’m so happy to have found this group of Christian readers! (Please forgive me if this is too long, Susan, or have too many links. I’ll cut if need be.)

I’ve been a member of Goodreads for some time but have been too busy writing to be very active. Now I’m taking a little breather since the publication of my newest book, "God, the Devil, and Divorce: A Transformative Journey out of Emotional and Spiritual Abuse." It’s a memoir/self-help hybrid and took me twenty years to write … off and on. The first half shows my struggles to fix my marriage and the mixed messages I received from the Christian community when I finally made the decision to divorce. The second half covers my journey of recovery and new love thanks be to God. (It’s available as an eBook and in paperback through several online bookstores and also on my website. (https://www.lindamkurth.com/store/p1/...)

I wrote my story partly with the purpose of exposing the belief among some Christians that people, women especially, must stay in abusive marriages no matter what, and secondly, to give encouragement to those who must leave their marriages to find the peace and joy the Lord has for them. God may hate divorce, but he hates an abusive relationship even more.

I also write a bi-monthly blog, “Help and Healing for Divorced Christians”(https://www.lindamkurth.com/divorce-h...), send out a monthly newsletter to subscribers, and offer free resources to download. "12 Steps to a More Joyful Life After Divorce" (https://www.subscribepage.com/l1s0i1) is an especially popular one.

My other eBooks include a “clean” romance, Home of the Heart, and three quick reads – Finding Joy in Being Single after Divorce, Ballroom Dancing and Other Life Lessons, and Welcome to the Land of Enchantment: A Short Memoir of a Young Marriage (a prequel to God, the Devil, and Divorce), all available on Amazon. My children’s book, Keiko’s Story: A Killer Whale Goes Home, about the star of the movie Free Willy is now out of print. Seeing Keiko released back into the wild Atlantic off the coast of Iceland was a highlight of my life.

As for me personally, I live with my dear husband of nineteen years in the home of our hearts in Washington State’s beautiful Skagit Valley. It’s here that we enjoy our big trees, a large vegetable garden, and a little orchard. (Just don’t get me started on dealing with horsetails!) Besides gardening, I love being part of a community choir as well as cooking and maintaining a recipe blog (https://www.lindamkurth.com/recipe-in...) on my website. I can be reached by email: Linda@LindaMKurth.com.

I look forward to learning what you all are reading and your impressions.

Blessings,
Linda

Good question, David. I really do rely on the leading of the Spirit far over any marketing strategy. I'm all about releasing an inspired message over making money. Platform-wise, my approach might differ from others, but for me the choice to remain exclusive to KDP has worked well to get what I've written out across the world.

Along the way, I learned the importance of a professional looking cover. Yours for The Psalm 23 Life looks good, BTW. It's clean, inviting, and clear what your book is about. It's great that you have a study guide available for individuals or groups. I read your Look Inside and saw your formatting, editing, and writing are all pro level. Most importantly, it's clear that you're writing under inspiration. All of this tells me you know that creating a quality product that will, in turn, inspire readers is a crucial first step.

Of course, the right key words and browse categories can be helpful in raising visibility. You can promote through social media, advertising, and run bargain or free promos. Meanwhile, one of the most helpful things I've learned is to keep writing in partnership with the Spirit and adding other titles. You have that one book out there (as I did at first). Given that good start, I'd consider writing other books. That way when people find your first book meaningful and applicable to their lives, they can go right into another. It's also very helpful to write books that have a common thread in a series. As you do this, you'll start to develop and nurture a relationship with your readers.

I hope something in there is helpful to you, David. I look forward to seeing more from you. :)

Thanks Susan, that's really helpful. I've also taken a zero budget approach, so thank you for taking the time to look at my book and for your kind feedback. That is very encouraging coming from you.
I'm about 40% through writing my next book, so it sounds like focusing on getting that done is a good thing to do.
I'm also exclusive with KDP. I've been wondering about advertising with Amazon. Do you have any advice on that front? Has it been successful for you?
Thanks
David

I'm glad to hear you're already well into writing your next book, David. Keep up the good work and enjoy the joys of that journey.

I haven't done any advertising through KDP, so I can't offer any advice on that. But you could check the KDP's community board for advice and opinions to get a sense how their authors have done with it.

Jane Rozek (goodreadscomjane_catherine_rozek) | 10 comments A big warm hello to all! I like the focus on Spiritual Christianity or as another member commented, Christian Spirituality that this thread seems to represent. Our personal relationship with God comes from the Spirit he sent back into the world to guide us after he returned to heaven. That's biblical!

I'm a narrative non-fiction writer, passionately trying to explain the Christian foundation to "Spiritual" people seeking empowerment. And there is a lot of readers out there, turned off by religion, but zealous for God. What a time we live in!

My book is titled The Celestial Proposal: Our Invitation to Join the God Kind. The Celestial Proposal: Our Invitation to Join the God Kind

Or in other words (in Christianese) - God's plan for us to join his family! I just had two more 5*s on Amazon ratings last week. One review claims God put the book in her hands, another older Catholic woman says that scales fell from her eyes with the truths she found in the book! God used me! He inspired me to write it over a ten-year period, and he gave me the answers to the questions I wrestled with then.

I also write a blog on my website www.JaneCatherineRozek.com/heart-thou... where I share God's truths applied to social and political situations we're up against. Oh, and I write an interesting travel blog, from visiting unique places: Isreal, Old Jerusalem, Petra, Garden of Gethsemane, and to far-off countries from China to Australia to Belize!

Currently, I'm querying agents for my coming-of-age spiritual quest memoir series. Two books complete, (self edited 9 times!) professionally edited and hopefully on some VIP agents desk! The first is about being called by Spirit-words that God whispered into head (cause they didn't come from me), and the second book is about being led by God out into the wilderness. Ha! Sounds funny. But I married a mountain man and we homesteaded a hundred miles out of town in beautiful alpine meadows, in BC Canada. I started to write my first book by lamplight. Yup! A modern pioneer, except we flew in by floatplane! God was there in all that isolation, just as he's with you wherever you are.

Anyway, very glad to connect with like-minded people. Doesn't seem so lonely writing now... Thanks for inviting me to join.

Writing by lamplight at your lovely homestead sounds wonderful, Jane!
