Here is our first POLL: It will be open until June 7. Please only vote for a book that you really want to read. You can change your vote anytime during this period.

Thanks for the kind words. I can't take credit for the way it looks. Though it was time consuming to narrow down the list and get through a couple days of chaos. Now I can leave it be while I get caught up on all my other work.

Celia (cinbread19) NancyJ: I have read all on the poll, so will bypass voting this time.

You know I am holding out for The Intuitionist

Am rereading Rebecca right now too

Thanks for not voting this month then. It's more respectful I think. I'm in one large group where hundreds of people vote but never read. The books the hardcore readers want don't get selected, so it's disappointing.

I think there are just a few people interested in The Intuitionist. If it never wins a poll, we could always plan a buddy read for it later on. Try to note who else mentions it. We'll pick a time that works for us.

When I read Rebecca (a few decades ago), I didn't fully appreciate it at first. I was used to lighter books, and "page turners" with a strong narrative. I wasn't used to reading literature, with detailed descriptions of the surroundings. I was frustrated at first, but she was setting an atmosphere, pulling us in, and building the suspense. Then I was hooked. I hope you enjoy it!

And the winner is... A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

We will start reading this on July 1st.

Upcoming reads:

A Prayer for Owen Meany - June 15 to August 1 (because it's fairly long)

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn -July 1 to August 1

Would you like to start a new book on July 15th, or wait until August 1?

We could move to a schedule with 2 or 3 books per month to give people a choice. So far we've been focusing on books that we haven't yet read, but I think we should also have one popular choice (that many people have read) for people who missed it, or for those who want to revisit a favorite. We might also have a themed choice.

BONUS READS are an option for people who want to read a different book, or an additional book. I'm happy to open new Bonus Reads anytime a group of people are committed to reading the same book at the same time.

All Group Reads will remain open after the month is over (I'll move them to a new folder).

I'd like to be included in buddy or whatever for the Intuitionist too, but I'm not in any rush. ATM I'm a bit overextended on challenges etc. Just let me know when to add it into my rotation.

There is one copy in my library system and it is checked out. I am interested too, but have not put it on hold yet.
