I finished. I too agree you'd be just fine calling it fluffy chick - lit for TT.

Yeah, but usually she means well. (view spoiler)[she only wanted to hear Malone play and he has been not very forthcoming. And she was going to run out on impersonating her sister to Father Tim until he found her in the parking lot.

Reading the summaries, looks like they are new couples altogether. Doesn't really seem like the same group of friends or anything like that so I'm thinking we won't :(

Finished! I'm in agreement (view spoiler)[there wasn't nearly enough character development for Malone - but glad we finally learned his name. Also, I'm wondering why Father Tim decided to leave? That was not explained. Maggie frustrated me through most of the book with her impulsiveness, jumping to conclusions, verbal diarrhea and her fixation on getting married. I'm glad her mom mellowed out a bit and that Jonah and Chantal kinda got together and that Malone came around, but I don't see myself reading any other books in this series. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Chapter 19. Ugh. I just kept thinking of my two dogs when I was reading and how sad I would be in her position.

Maggie was a little annoying with her laser focus on finding a man and starting a family. I think it caused her to act irrationally and do things like profess her love for Father Tim in front of the town and break up with Malone over an assumption. I'm glad she got out of her own way at the end and got together with Malone. I think they'll be good for each other.

The Father Tim storyline was a little weird. I definitely thought something was up and he was leaving the priesthood. It doesn't feel wrapped up that he just left with no explanation other than he was being transferred. (hide spoiler)]

I'll probably add this series to my "To Be Continued" list. It was entertaining and I'd be interested in learning more about other characters from the town.

I just happened upon this BR thread tonite! It seems like I am always a day late and a dollar short!
I am absolutely loving this book! I classify this sort of story as 'brain candy.' It is definitely chick-lit and fluffy, but it's like a vacation for your brain. I'm almost finished with it and it's made me laugh and snort out loud many times. I took it with me to a doctor's appointment today & I got lots of strange looks in the waiting room!
Call me shallow, but I first decided to read it because of the cute puppy on my copy's cover...

Not shallow at all! Sometimes you just want to read something light & fun which I believe this one is. I think a lot of people pick it up because of the cute puppy :)

Colonel was a tear jerker. I had my dog for over 16 years and we had to put him to sleep due to illness.

I finished today! Thank you all for your kind words & funny thoughts! Reading is mostly such a solitary thing, GR & things like buddy reads help bring us all together & I believe we all feel a little less isolated. It makes it fun!!

I laughed, cried, shook my head and snorted aloud -- sometimes on the single page or chapter!

Poor Maggie! She got all of her exercise riding that bike of hers in inclement weather or jumping to conclusions! She got into trouble a lot like that...

I didn't really like Chantal too much & couldn't see why Maggie was her friend at all. I get that Maggie was a nice person, but still...

The Parentals: (view spoiler)[ I was pretty surprised when they announced their divorce! Nope. I sure didn't see it coming. I thought Daddy was just such a Mr. Milquetoast, he'd never stand up for himself, just keep on hiding out in the bomb shelter. Mom was so mean! I guess she was just bitter over the way her life turned out. But, hey, life is what you make of it. I was even more surprised about Christy's reaction to the separation! (hide spoiler)]

Malone: what is UP with this dude!? I picture the old taciturn salty dog staring out to sea... (view spoiler)[ His public image is so different to hot Malone in bed or sweet Malone that comforted Maggie after Colonel passed... Or the dude that took her to the Lumberjack Festival to cheer her up. And why wouldn't he tell her his first name? I get that he had a hard life, but sheesh! And it still seemed odd that Chantal would confide in him rather than Maggie, even if Jonah was the baby daddy. I'm glad it all worked out in the end & a puppy, too!! (hide spoiler)]

I am definitely going to look for more of Ms. Higgins' books when I want to laugh out loud.

@Laurie - I had alot of the same thoughts. I love a book that makes you laugh and Maggie was good natured about the way others reacted to her antics. As for Father Tim, in my Church we have seen some good looking priests and some women have carried on just like Maggie although I have kept my opinions to a select few people in my life.
