Matthias Sanen | 1 comments This is a series of books. In the first there's this girl with her brother who got atacked by the enemy (just the enemy for now) and depart on a quest to save the land and rid it of a certain corruption. This corruption is manifested through a special kind of rock/material that gets into the storie in the form of an axehead (wich can shapechange the wielder if he puts the desired shapes skin over it) or a bowl wich gives certain powers (i think something with scrying) but draws them crazy at the same time. The girl discouvers she can use magic by cutting her hand or something like that with a ceremonial knife and her travels make her more at home with different kinds. U got like some sort of elemental magic, sand magic, dream magic and stuff like that. Later in the series the brother gets kidnapped by some dark lieutenant who trains him to be his evil sidekick but he tries to fight it etc. The end of the series is them discovering the true nature of the corruption wich is a troll born out of that corrupt stone/material who has like mad magic powers and some twisted view on life or so and he gets crushed (obviously, it's a happy ending kind off book). Oh ye the brother got this white staff somehere inbewteen wich is tainted by bloddmagic into a bloodstaff or so.

i read this series around 2004-2008 (rough quess, my bad)

i htink the first or at least one of the books had a purple inspired storm thingy as background (im not sure but i remember a dark purple vibe)

That's the best i got

Hannah Maybe The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_S...
It only vaguely fits, but I’m still going to throw it out there just in case.
