This month I thought it would be interesting to see what people thought about Fantasy events. I know this won't be for everyone but I would like to know some good ones and by sharing we may become aware of some that may not be known. This includes Medieval Faires, Concerts, Cosplays, Conventions, old movie sets or areas of filming, Fantasy Themed Hotels and even amusement parks, like the Harry Potter area in Universal. I plan on researching this some and include some info when I find it.

Janny (jannywurts) | 807 comments It would be fun, maybe, to see if any members of this group are attending DragonCon, or WorldCon or some other venue -- and schedule a coffee klatch or something - anybody interested?

Sorry just spotted this. I’m in the UK. If we have things like this then they’re down in London.

message 4: by Janette (new)

Janette | 211 comments I agree with Helen. The only ones I’ve ever heard of in the UK are Harry Potter events organised by bookshops. There was a travelling Doctor Who thing a few years ago but I guess that’s more Sci Fi than fantasy

Yea, the only one I could/would attend is the Dragoncon, but it's usually the week of my wife's birthday. She doesn't like fantasy so she would not be a happy camper if that's where I took her for her special day.

Kind of like the movie thing I tried some time ago. Response kind of goes away. I did appreciate Janny responding though. Thanks!!

WHAAAAAT?!? : o

message 9: by Holly (new)

Holly (goldikova) I want to go to one of the big cons someday.

We have an annual multi-fandom con sponsored by a local college. I go with a friend of mine and we take our daughters. It's a small con, but we always have a lot of fun.

So, I ask my Wife "would you be interested?" And she says"absolutely not!" Oh well, I tried.

And this explains why I'm still single. I just haven't found the man I'd choose over dragons! :o

LOL, I believe there's a man out there that will let you keep your dragons.

Yea, my wife thinks dragons, unicorns, griffons, whatever are stupid. I didn't know this before I had already married her (I still would have married her, she's the love of my life).

My family and several of my friends don't understand my love of dragons and all imaginary creatures... :'(

Awwwww, so sweet!

I’m single too, it’s tough meeting people when you work all the time and then read. :D

So, the whole reason I started this thread was because of Elfia. The only problem was I couldn't think of the name. Well, I found it and now I want to go so bad. If I could just talk my wife into it.

That would be so much fun. I'm afraid it will have to be in another lifetime for me though. But I love the motto - you'll never dream alone. We can make that happen anywhere :)
