I was really surprised when I found out that Adam was a soldier. I was also disgusted when he took over her bed, took her blanket and her pillow, and made her sleep on the floor. I was so angry with him...I had to put the book down for a little bit. I was kind of freaked out when I heard about the trash in the streets and the people dying of hunger. I was furious when Juliettte found out the Reestablishment spent money that could have been used for food was poured into decorating that building.

My thoughts: (view spoiler)[I was just about to think that Juliette and Adam were going to fall in love and then somehow bust out of prison together or something like that; Mafi really surprised me about Adam being a soldier! So far, I really detest Warner. I won't go on describing my feelings for fear of accidentally letting slip a swear word xD but I've heard that people LIKE Warner. I am seriously not seeing the attraction right now, but maybe he'll change.
The Reestablishment is a pretty horrible place, wow. Other dystopias I've read obviously aren't a great system, but this one is definitely of the worst I've come across. The whole tyrannical ruling with masses of peasants living in poverty and no fear of killing reminds me of certain civilizations in the past, and honestly, of some currently in turmoil.
And can I just say that I love the crossed-out lines? They add to the narration, because in real life, not everything you think is perfect and novel-worthy lyrical prose. There are random, somewhat stupid thoughts, and thoughts that you know you can't say aloud.
That being said, I don't like Juliette herself very much. She's not the worst female protagonist I've come across (so far that's still Bella), but she complains often enough that I might call it whining. Obviously her entire life has been hard, so she has the right to be upset about this, but as a reader I don't want to see as much self-pity as I am. (hide spoiler)]

How do you guys think of the book so far? What did you guys think of this Dystopian world that Tahereh Mafi had created?

I'm really liking the book so far. This whole Reestablishment business is really cool and I can't wait until they go more in depth into it. Right now I really love Adam and not so much warner, but I feel like that's gonna change because so many people love Warner. Juliette's power is really cool and it's weird that Adam can touch her. I think it might have to do with the fact that she's not scared of him or she doesn't have any ill feelings towards him
