That makes no sense, especially if the kindle shows it's 110 pages, but Amazon doesn't. Who cares?

every librarian should - because not following the rules can cost him/her the status.
And at least for ebooks the page count can vary on different deviceds so librarians must go with the one from the publisher as the official one - for kindles that's Amazon.
And yes, there are a lot of ebooks without a pagecount because the publisher does not mention it.
