Kirsten (kmcripn) For those who are interested, a great companion to this book is The Black Count: Glory, Revolution, Betrayal, and the Real Count of Monte Cristo.

I love the Count of Monte Cristo. It moved very fast and I was impressed at the accessibility of it.

Codie | 61 comments I think this is one of the very first classics I ever read and I was in the 6th grade. It just amazed me, the resilience and patience of the main character. I’ve read it several times and I’ve seen the version with Jim Caviezel and Guy Pearce several times.

I loved it too. I think it was the first long adult book I read, and it made a strong impression. I read The Godfather shortly afterwards, and after these two books I felt very grown up.

Highly recommend that book too.

My Da handed this book to me when I was eight or so. I just devoured it. Went on to read everything Dumas wrote. Read them again in college in French. Even better!

Heather (bruyere) One of my favorite books. I think one of the most interesting things about the book is the color symbolism in it. Or that's how I interpreted it anyway. Also, how you can be in love with the idea of someone, which might not be actually who they are.
