Fishface | 15003 comments This is driving me crazy. I am trying to think of the name of the criminal who claimed that the stains on his clothes were wood stain, not blood. Some forensic whizbang created a test to prove that it was blood -- the first time such a test had been used. They were able to show, partly based on that, that this guy was a serial child killer. I think it was in the late 1800s when this went down and I'm certain the guy was a German speaker with a German name, probably in Germany but maybe Austria or someplace else where they speak mostly German. When I try to Google him, I keep coming up with the wrong names -- Fritz Haarmann and Peter Kurten and la de da -- when I'm positive this guy came along much earlier.

Does anyone know his wretched name?

Ludwig Tessnow, 'The Mad Carpenter'.

Fishface | 15003 comments Oh thank you so much!!! That was driving me out of my tree!!! I kept trying to call him Peter Stubbe, which was the name of one of the victims AND the name of yet another incorrect serial killer...Now while I'm at it, does anyone remember the name of an SK from Italy who used to disembowel people because he was hung up on stroking their quivering intestines? This guy is back even farther than Ludwig. A couple centuries oe more.

Andreas Bichel. Although, he isn't Italian, he's from Bavaria.

Fishface | 15003 comments Gee, I thought his name started with an I. Don't tell me there are two like that!

*races off to look him up*

Fishface | 15003 comments OK, this has to be a different guy. Mine was Italian.

Okay. I'll do some digging of my own, and see if I can help you. :)

Fishface | 15003 comments FOUND HIM! The name is Vincenzo Verzeni. We even have a book on him on our Serial Murder shelf but it's in Italian, so I'm out of luck there.

Damn! That's what I get for being so pedantic, and taking so long to write this post ... lol

Vincenzo Verzeni. He's in the book Serial Killers: The Method and Madness of Monsters. Here is a link to Page 27, where it is stated that he said he found the 'feel of intestines very pleasant'. https://tinyurl.com/yaq8jy4v

Fishface | 15003 comments The details are much worse than that, honestly. You just got the heavily-edited version.
