We want your creative ideas about using this site.
How can we use this site to improve teaching and learning?

Alicia Thoman | 6 comments This site can be used to enhance a persons learning whether or not they are the student or teacher.A teacher can post thoughtful questions for their students to answer and the students can answer them to help the teacher see how they can process information presented to them and how they think.
This site can also be used for a resource guide. A new teacher can come for lesson plan help with a particular topic to teach and receive feedback by experienced teachers.

Geysell,

Once a teacher knows what her students are reading and how that reading impact their lives, how would she use this information to improve teaching and learning?

Sandra | 8 comments This site can be used to improve teaching and learning by seeing what each person reads. There are many books that a lot of people have not heard of before and will be interested to read it. Since, each student has a variety of books on his or her bookshelf then everyone can share their opinions about why they recommend the books they read. This can help teachers in improving teaching and learning by suggesting books that many have an interest in and will be of great interest to others.

There is a book for everyone and this site will promote a few of many books that are most popular and help all readers take in interest and improve their reading skills.

Melissa Wagner (melissawagner) | 5 comments This site would be great for a class to use in order to descuss the book they are reading for a class and to get more out of it by seeing what other people think about the book. They could share ideas and have specific discussion questions to answer.

Amber Garcia (ambergarcia) | 4 comments I think this site would be helpful for teachers to discuss (in younger grades) what books were read to the class, what lessons where taught in addition to the reading, and how this was received by the class and how well the lesson went.

Christine Tarzjani | 8 comments this site can improve learning by students by going on to ask questions if they are having difficulty with their reading assignment. they can get help from others who have read the same thing or have had the same problems. the site could help improve teaching as well. as a teacher you can go onto your students site and be able to see the books they arfe reading, which will help you determine what their likes and dislikes are, which will help you know what the best way to get across to them will be.

Tiffany Fraser | 4 comments I think this site is a great idea for teachers to use as a resource. While they are deciding on what book the class is going to read during that school year they can check here to see other's views on the book. I would love to use this site when I am making my lesson plans and deciding on what books my class will be reading.

Jasmine Colato | 4 comments I thinnk Tiffany's ideas is a great one. Teachers can recommend age appropriate books that they have seen have caught the attention of their students.
This site could be used to improve teaching in that good books about professional development can be reccommended to teachers. They can make a better choice as to how to spend their time wisely reading a book that will help them become better informed on how to become great teachers.
Teacher can also learn from the experiences of othersteacehrs.

Ashley Hanna | 5 comments This site helps to let students know that just because they like to read doesn't mean they are the lone nerd in the classroom or campus. Lots of us are nerds, we just hide in the library.

Indira Landin | 8 comments One way we can improve teaching by using this site is by sharing ideas with each other. Such as how to make a fun and engaging lesson plan for our students. In addition, as students we can come to the site to ask questions to our teachers. We can also share what books we would like to read or recommend reading.

Norma | 4 comments I think that this website serves many positive purposes in the educational field that can improve teaching and learning. For example, teacher's are able to get an idea of what their student's enjoy by reading comments they post. Also, students have an opportunity to communicate in an educational setting with others from all over the world instead of using more harmful websites such as myspace. In this way kids are engaged in something they like without fear of harm. The fact that students are online also serves for students to learn more about technology and usage of the web. Teachers can use goodreads.com to have class discussions and make a class somewhat interactive where all students can join at the same time and communicate about a book they are currently reading in class. This serves as a good way for a teacher to learn more about a student's need or questions on the book, especially if those student's don't always speak-up in class.

Mary | 6 comments This site can improve Teaching and Learning by having members exchange which are the best or necessary children's books to have in their classrooms for their students to read.

message 15: by Thuy (new)

Thuy Van | 4 comments This site can help teacher determine what kind of books their students read. They can plan lesson based on the students' interest. This site can be a place where teachers, parents & students connect together. Parents can also help their children choose books based on children's interest.

message 16: by Thuy (new)

Thuy Van | 4 comments I agree with Mary that we can use this site to exchange children' books that are neccessary in our classroom. For example, a teacher team can propose the books they have read. The team can read the book and discuss together. Finally, they will vote for the book they want and plan for reading activities (that is consistent with the book)

message 17: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 6 comments i agree with many of my fellow students. this can be a place where kids can go to discuss books as well as teachers. this is a way kids can ask their teachers questions about their reading assignment or can make a request for a teachers library. teachers are also able to see what their children enjoy and can make lesson plans based on the children's intrest. I know if someone tells me a book is really good it makes me open my eyes to reading that book more.

Michelle Pinedo | 8 comments There are so many ways in which this site can be used to teach and learn. Not only will it help children learn, it will help teachers learn to educate. My main goal as a (teacher), if I used this site it would be to find the interests of the students in my classes and use those interests to build off of students needs to attain a better understanding of the class in which they are teaching.

message 19: by Serena (new)

Serena Sedillo | 11 comments I agree with everyone. I believe that this is a good site for a teacher and students. The teacher is able to get a better understanding about his/her student's interests and the students can explore all sorts of books. Looking at books my peers have recommended has been really helpfull for me.
