30.9 - Brooke TX's task: Summer (Reading) is Coming

This is a two book task. Choose one of the options below and read Book 1 and Book 2 from that option. Books with the Main Page Genres of Sequential Art, Comics, Comic Book, and Manga can be used for this task. The books must have a combined total of at least 500 pages.

REQUIRED: State which option you chose when you post.

For public librarians, summer is not the season of vacations, it's the season of the madness that is Summer Reading.

OPTION A: BIG READ
This year, we're running a community reading program with a Big Read grant from the NEA.
Book 1: Read a book from the list of Big Read titles.
and
Book 2: Read a book by a single author whose first and last name initials can be found in NEA BIG READ.

OPTION B: LEVEL UP YOUR READING
We also have our all ages reading program, Level Up Your Reading, which involves reading books in different categories in order to earn badges. The summer reading challenge categories are beach reads, books that are #1 in a series, travel books, ebooks, and contemporary fiction.
Book 1: Read a book that can be found on the first 10 pages of one of the following lists:
Popular Beach Read Books
Popular Travel Books
Popular Ebooks
Popular Contemporary Books
Best Series (if you choose this list, you must read the book on the list, not other books in the series).
and
Book 2: Read a book that can be found on the first 10 pages of a different list from your Book 1 selection.
REQUIRED: State which lists you used and the pages on which your books can be found.

OPTION C: YOUTH DEPARTMENT
Of course, the vast majority of summer reading events are for all the kids out on summer break! We have a separate selection of Level Up challenges and badges for our younger readers.
Book 1: Read a book with a main page genre of Young Adult, Childrens, or Middle Grade. Be sure your book meets SRC requirements, and include the ARBookFinder info if necessary.
and
Book 2: Read a book with a main page genre of Sequential Art, Comics, or Graphic Novel.
