    CLASSES

We're going to attend classes. That means maybe you'll have to transform cups into mouses, transplant baby mandragoras or brew potions, among other things.

They may need some planning, so read instructions careful. Once in a while the Class Masters may go and check if your book applies or not. Points are at stake here.

IMPORTANT NOTE

◈ Questions about classes (to the mods) are made by captains only on the captains group. Infractors will be penalized by 5 points. This does not apply to questions done on the teams thread to the captains.

◈ If the classes masters think the book doesn't fit your team will be granted negative points - no discussion. Well, you can contest it. But, if we take it to voting on the mod table, and we still decide the book doesn't fit, instead of -5 points, you'll get -25. So, is up to you.

◈ No questions about if a book fits a certain task are allowed. For example: you can ask what we consider a Dark Art. You cannot ask if a book about werewolves can be consider a Dark Ark. We have been doing this for a long time, again, use common sense. There are negative points at stake here.

◈ No questions about if a book cover has enough of a certain color. You can use Mad-Tineye Moody or some other online color extractor tool, in case the color at hand applies (indigo and turquoise may not be on their range). We're not limiting a certain percentage, but again, is a matter of common sense. You need to look at the cover and identify the main one.

ASTRONOMY

Astronomy consists in the use of telescopes to chronicle the stars and the movement of planets. Its homework, assigned by Professor Sinistra, involved learning the names of stars, planets and moons and filling in blank star charts.

For this task you'll be required to read one book per Hogwarts year, where the book title contains a celestial object (sun, moon, stars. comets, etc).
Books are worth 0.02 points per page, and all seven need to be read to score.

Examples:
I'll Give You the Sun - 371 pages = 7 points
The Star-Touched Queen - 342 pages = 7 points
Fool Moon - 401 pages = 8 points
The Worst Man on Mars - 380 pages = 8 points
Heart of the Comet - 479 pages = 10 points
Morning Star - 524 pages = 10 points
Stardust - 248 pages = 5 points

Astronomy Grade: 55 points

    CHARMS

Classwork involves trying and practicing various charms. The Hogwarts Charms teacher is Professor Flitwick

Read Pairs of books that represent the Charm you are trying to master (Can be cover or title, but the pair must be both. So must be a title and a title ; or a cover and a cover for the pair)

Levitation Charm : is a charm used to make objects fly, or levitate

Cheering Charm : is a spell which makes a person happy. When the spell is overdone, it can cause the victim to be overcome with fits of hysterical laughter.

Mending Charm : also known as the Repairing Charm (Reparo), is a charm that can be used to seamlessly repair a broken object.

Summoning Charm : is a charm that causes a target at a distance from the caster to levitate or fly over to them. This spell needs thought behind it, the object must be clear in the casters mind, before trying to summon.

This spell is one of the oldest spells known to wizarding society

Banishing Charm :is the counter-charm to the Summoning Charm. As Accio summons objects to the caster, Depulso sends both objects and living things away from the caster.[3] Unlike the Summoning Charm, which can summon specific objects from anywhere, the Banishing Charm banishes whatever the wand is aimed at.

Fire-Making Spell : also known as the Fire-Making Charm (Incendio) is a charm and a form of Conjuration, that can be used to conjure a jet of orange and red flame. Thereby this spell can be used to set things alight

Water-Making Spell : "The Water-Making Spell conjures clean, drinkable water from the end of the wand." The Water-Making Spell, also known as the Aguamenti Spell (Aguamenti) is a charm that conjures a jet of clear, pure water and shoots it from the tip of the caster's wand.

Example: Mending Charm
COVER

DIVINATION

Divination is magic which attempts to foresee future events. Many in the wizarding world consider this branch of magic to be imprecise at best

◈ Read three books where a character uses fortuneteller/divination tools
◈ Read three books where a prophecy/vision is described/felt
◈ Read three to be published books (ARC/eARC)

Each book is worth 10 points, and you need to read all three books within a section to earn the points.

    HISTORY OF MAGIC

Consists of lectures on various aspects of magical history. It is extremely boring, but this is due to the teacher, Professor Binns’, teaching style, not the material itself, which seems to emphasize vicious goblin riots, goblin rebellions, and giant wars.

Read one book per Hogwarts year (7 books)
Using the book titles above, write an essay for the class

Example:
Books:
All the Little Liars
Curse on the Land
Eve
Frost Burned
Gameboard of the Gods
The Kingdom
Moon Called

Essay:
The dice were rolled on the Gameboard of the Gods. Eve, the Moon Called had to face All the Little Liars to save The Kingdom from being Frost Burned and lift the Curse on the Land

      TRANSFIGURATION

Transfiguration is magic which changes one object into another. It is possible to change inanimate objects into animate ones and vice versa. Some Transfiguration spells alter a part of something, such as changing a person’s ears from normal into rabbit ears

For this class you'll need to form pairs again. One book represents the initial object, the second the transfigurated one.

It's a cover hunt, and it's up to your imagination. Some examples are:
1)Person to Cat
The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen + Murder Past Due (Cat in the Stacks, #1) by Miranda James

2) Teapot to Tortoise
Death by Darjeeling (A Tea Shop Mystery, #1) by Laura Childs + The Tortoise and the Hare An Aesop Fable by Janet Stevens

3)Water to Wine
Magical Thinking True Stories by Augusten Burroughs + When Love Walked In by Charlie Cochet

You can use just a part of something BUT you need to say is that part of something. For example, you can't say person to cat, and then have a book with just an arm on the cover.
