Okay, just got to the end of part one and WOW. I'm really enjoying the audiobook so far - the narrators are fantastic! Kaladin has been through a lot. (view spoiler)[He was a slave and now is in the army... but he's still a slave in the army... right? I didn't think he was just a soldier now but not 100% sure. (hide spoiler)] Then there's Shallan (view spoiler)[who is sort of undercover and has this gigantic plan of stealing something to save her family... which is an interesting, if not bold, choice to save an entire family. Not sure how that's going to pan out but I'm intrigued to find out. (hide spoiler)] Then I got confused on who saved whom towards the end of this part, but that's because I was getting so many phone calls that I kept jumbling things. Luckily I have a coworker who practically told me to read these books so she cleared things up.

And...

I got distracted by so many work things and forgot to unpause the book and finish this comment, lol.

Just got to the end of part two, which - omg, felt like such a long part! It probably doesn't help that I had to keep pausing the audiobook for all the work phone calls I was getting. There's honestly still a lot going on. Here's a few comments,

Kaladin, (view spoiler)[my poor baby. I just want to give him a hug. I do like that he is winning some people's trust though... but I just want everyone to be on board already. I have a feeling the more we get to know about him, like his past, the more emotional I'm going to feel. (hide spoiler)]

Dalinar and Sadeas (? - not sure if I'm spelling this correctly since it's the audiobook and all). (view spoiler)[I feel like they need to trust one another a bit more but like... will that actually happen? Not sure. Kind of feels a bit one-sided but also kind of doesn't at the same time. I'm all over the place with these two. (hide spoiler)]

A lot of things still feel unknown to me and I'm itching to figure things out before they are revealed.

Just got to the end of part three! Oof. I was not prepared for all the emotions!! Kaladin, (view spoiler)[my goodness. I feel so bad for him. While it was interesting to finally see why and how he became a slave... my heart was NOT prepared for it one bit!! Is it too early (or late) to want revenge?!?!? (hide spoiler)]

Also the betrayal!! I feel like I need a hug after reading this. I'm not sure I'll ever recover from that.

I'm soooooooo close to finishing part 4 but I keep getting work phone calls :( Looks like I will be finishing this book tomorrow.

I FINALLY FINISHED PART 4! You have no idea how happy I am right now because pausing it last night during the battle hurt my heart! So much was freaking happening.

Dalinar, I love you. He is such a badass! I love how he handled the king. It NEEDED to happen, and I probably would've cried if it didn't. I think that's all I can really say without spoiling too much (lol). Other than maybe saying I'm not a fan of Sadeas.

And done! Wow -- just wow! So many thoughts right now and I'm just casually sitting and freaking out. Okay, here are some comments:

1. Sadeas -- (view spoiler)[we will never be friends after that ultimate betrayal. I mean, we probably wouldn't have been friends even if that didn't happen. I did not like the guy one bit. (hide spoiler)]

2. Shallan -- (view spoiler)[my goodness! Her and Jasnah need a vacation or something. I have lots of questions about the spren thing she sees but maybe things will make more sense in the next book? Not sure. (hide spoiler)]

3. Kaladin & Dalinar -- (view spoiler)[I just love them so much. Dalinar got screwed. Kaladin and the guys go save him. Now they are all free and work for Dalinar. I need some good revenge in the next book for sure. (hide spoiler)]

4. Wit -- (view spoiler)[Honestly, he is such a freaking mystery to me. I just want to know more about him. (hide spoiler)]

5. Szeth -- (view spoiler)[Oof... is he going to try and actually kill Dalniar now?? (hide spoiler)]

June is almost over :)

Yes, Part 1 was a lot for Kaladin - he has some past stuff going on - making him so bitter. (view spoiler)[I don't love him yet, but I am somewhat interested. He's a bit too petulant. Shallan is okay too - I am wondering what's going to happen with Janath.

I usually latch onto a character when I first read a book, and I'm just not latching on yet. I am very interested in the world building though. Ardents, and soulcasting, and hearthstones. Some of it feels a little video-gameish, but that's okay. I am interested in that part! (hide spoiler)]

Part 2 - I like Kaladin a bit better! What's up with Adolin? (view spoiler)[ I do feel badly for Kaladin, but he should have just been a doctor already.
However! My favorite character has arrived!! Rock!!
If they kill him off, I'm going to be pissed.
He makes the story lighter, and gives it a more human feeling instead of the brooding of Kaladin.
I'm not sure I understand this whole Adolin / Dalinar dynamic yet. The whole brightlord, shardbearer, riding big horses, having visions, being paranoid about a broken leather strap (of course it was a murder plot!). I'm sure I'll get there!

So sorry Alaina, I've been super sick last couple days. Reminds of when I had pneumonia a coupe years ago. I plan to go to doctor tomorrow because I don't think this is something that will pass. It's been 4 days and I'm still unable to stay awake for longer than an hour at a time, besides the chest congestion and constant coughing.

I will start the book tomorrow but may move a little slow to begin. Plan on using the thread on this site? I don't see any comments yet so have you started?
