ABANDONED. Depressed girl,gets caught & knows self-defense, doesn’t use it(?normal defense or magic?) She escapes/rescued, someone says, “You stopped fighting. You know (defense), but you didn’t use it, you didn’t try...” They worry she wants to die.

I read this book a couple years ago! All I remembered is:
There’s a girl, and she is depressed or traumatized or something. She gets caught by an antagonist and even though she knows some self-defense, she doesn’t use it. (I don’t know if it’s normal self-defense or magic self defense.) Eventually she either escapes or is rescued, and has a conversation with her mentor/friend/love interest/someone who says something like, “You stopped fighting. You know (self-defense/magic), but you didn’t use it, you didn’t try, you just gave up.” And this person is really worried that she doesn’t want to live.
