Books of Beginning #1: Emerald Atlas by John Stephens --> Starting 6th May

John Stephens' aptly-titled new fantasy trilogy begins auspiciously with a nimble, fast-paced tale of three siblings. Kate, Michael, and Emma have suffered through ten years of odious orphanage "care"; now they have slipped into the care of the eccentric, disturbingly mysterious Dr. Pym. While exploring their new home, the children discover a magical green book. With that discovery, a decade of tedium dissolves into cascades of dangerous time travel adventures and struggles with a beautiful witch and decidedly less attractive zombielike Screechers. High early reader marks for strong characterization and battle scenes.

74% (view spoiler)[I started to lose focus during this one, so don't properly understand what's happening anymore, but I think everything's wrapping up again now and they're understanding more about the whole time-travel business. I'd be so confused if I was the old man and people are trying to talk to me about the future XD

85% (view spoiler)[I love the narrator's Irish accent for the dwarves :p But I really hate his accent for the other voices.He narrated the Harry Potter books that I listened to as well, and it really lowered my enjoyment of them. So whiny and annoying. (hide spoiler)]

100% (view spoiler)[I really liked the sibling dynamic, it seemed very similar to the Baudelaires, especially with the middle sibling Michael loving books and facts like Klaus.
