Countdown to End of Challenge

Midnight European time on the 31st.

Good thing I have all of tomorrow to finish my book because I've been a lazy reader today. Having one more entire day should be enough to finish up the BOM - Everland.

For those of you reading Magic Triumphs, don't forget that it's a BOM. Be good and go answer the discussion questions please as they'll bring us some extra points :-) Thanks!

message 2357: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) Will do! I'm starting it today

Oh finally!

Do we know if we get any points for our house completing the maze first?

message 2359: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
Ah yes, I think there will be extra points for the house that finished first but I have no idea how or when they're awarded. They're probably going to be manually added to the points ranking.

message 2366: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments Glad we are finished with all the tasks. I've got two books I should finish up tomorrow. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with myself now TT is ending. I think I might need a break from challenges though. I know I'm going to miss discovering new books through it though. I've read a few books I wouldn't have without the challenge and really enjoyed reading outside my zone.

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
Professor Snape has trained us well, it seems ;-)

Well done, team!! That was amazing reading!! :-D

Now, for the remaining 16 hours: try to finish as many of your books as possible so we can count them for page points. Please remember that completion posts must be in before the countdown timer runs out.

Thanks, guys!!

Mmhh, sometimes challenges can make you discover some really interesting books that you might not have picked up otherwise! (Also sometimes the contrary haha.)

I can understand the need for a little challenge break. It does wonders sometimes! I didn't hold out for that long when I had a break but I only did 1 or 2 challenges that were comfort challenges so to speak.

message 2369: by Kavitha (new)

Kavitha Sivakumar | 179 comments Even though my travel with this group is for a short period, totally enjoyed it!! I learned a lot too and read a lot because of the challenge :) same experience as many commented here about the choice of books that I read for the tasks!

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments As usual, life happened. Will try to finish Magic Triumphs, joim discussion and post completion tomorrow. *fingers crossed I will get time to do so*

You have not quite 8 hours left, Kathleen!

Anything posted after that time won't count - unless they're making an exception for Magic Triumphs BOM as it started very late in the month.

message 2372: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 10094 comments Mod
they're making an exception.

as I understand it, if it's posted, with DQs completed, and on the sheet, before the Captain's Deadline (i.e. midnight Sunday London time) it'll be counted

message 2373: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
So it's official?

message 2374: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 10094 comments Mod
it was in the owl mail, yes.

assuming I've interpreted correctly! but Sonia said basically that in her team thread, so I'm nearly 100% confident I'm right ;-P

message 2375: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 10094 comments Mod
oh, I've assumed that the extended deadline only counts if you are participating in the DQs. i.e. you can't use the extension to just read it in a solitary fashion, only to take the added time needed to answer etc

but that is very much my assumption & not been tested anywhere. Tea might have views, unless she's still on a bus somewhere?

message 2376: by Eldarwen (new)

Hahaha, bloody hell, I blanked that paragraph out completely!!

So Kathleen at least has a little longer for Kate and Curran :-)

Thanks for still having my back, Cat! <3

message 2377: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) E, I added my fourth BOM question post to my last book completion. Not sure if I will finish anymore today. I'm going shopping for a bit now.

message 2380: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 2378 comments Time is winding down :-(

Thanks for being such an awesome team. I think we did great. Maybe we struggled a little in quidditch, but I honestly think that is because we read for real and not just to slam down a book We took some time, at least, to actually absorb what we were reading! Still, no matter what, I think all of the quidditch particpants rocked ass!! But we totally dominated in the maze! Way to go everyone there!!!

I'm not as talkative as many of you, but I enjoyed all of the conversation! It was nice to get know some names I've seen around!

Hope to see you in more challenges around GR!!!

message 2381: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 2378 comments And let's not forget our fearless leader!!! She's the rockin'-est captain ever!!! What do you think... is this our queen??

Bahahahaha :-)))

And because I'm giving up on trying to finish one last book before midnight - not going to happen haha but I am enjoying the book - I'm going over to party mode...

Thank you so much for an insane challenge, guys! Everything done with time to spare, crazy reading in Quidditch and absolutely amazing team work on the Maze! You rocked!!

And LaurLa, my fellow snake, always good to have you at my back!! <3

message 2383: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments Won't be able to finish any others so just posted my last books. I've been staying up until 3am reading this whole week (& just reading at work the last 2 days without doing much else) so I am just going to SLEEP tonight! No reading for me! Then on with Empire of Storms... these last 2 books have been insane. After getting over my anger on how poorly Celaena treated Chaol in Crown of Midnight (though it was hard again when Celaena returned to Rifthold in Queen of Shadows), I found myself totally hooked on this series. Let's hope that there aren't any more love interests for Celaena/Aelin now because that was a little irritating...

Thanks everyone, and especially our amazing Captains, for another fun challenge :)

Sanah Shabbir (szs_30) This was my first Tower challenge and I really enjoyed myself. Everyone was super motivating and even though I joined late in the game, I was welcomed by everyone, especially by our captains. Thanks for making my first challenge a great one!

If you liked Queen of Shadows, you're going to love Empire of Storms :-)

True, her treatment of Chaol wasn't the greatest, but he was a bit of a dick as well.

True, more so in Queen of Shadows, but I keep thinking of that scene where Celaena was so cold to him & he was so heartbroken that he went in the closet & cried. Talk about sad!! I so love him :)

I forgot about that scene actually! I only remember him being very quick to judge and then drop her like a hot potato. But he is a cool character. Lots of development there, and a lot of room for more of the same!

I absolutely love Marion though!

Kathleeeeeeeeen, did you manage to finish the last Kate Daniels?

We have a another 7 hours (and a few minutes) to finalise the spreadsheet and for you to post a completion post but figured I'd poke you anyway :-)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments E, will my book still count???

message 2395: by Eldarwen (new)

If you post now, then yes!

Under the condition that you've participated in the BOM questions.

message 2396: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
Time's officially up now, even for the extension for the last BOM.

Sonia allowed a couple more hours for captains to update the spreadsheets but it's 1am for me so I'm heading to bed. Besides, we were good with keeping our spreadsheet up to date all the time, so nothing to worry over :-)

Thanks again for a very fun challenge! You did some amazing reading and I hope you all had a good time (despite the numerous 1 or 2 star books).

message 2397: by Sanah (new)

Sanah Shabbir (szs_30) Where/when are result gonna be posted for how each team did?

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Drat, didn't make it!

But it was really fun reading with you all. Such a great team!

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Mrs. Fix It and the Brides were my most "interesting" read for this TT round ;)

It'll probably a day or two before mods will do that. Usually there's either a thread for those kinds of announcements or they'll had it to the scoring thread they already have.

But you can already have a look at this spreadsheet to give you an idea.
