Sonia was specially inspired after one comment and later when she was reading some descriptions :P

Is that Red Rising that is there by mistake? Because I don't think that is brown book

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I think so too. I think the covers are black or red depending on the edition. At least we got away with just brown and 500+ pages... If they added one more there it would be a very challenging goal indeed!

Are the books we use for spells used for classes too?

message 153: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments Book can be used for spells or classes. Not both.

So when you are finished, maybe you could mention what task it could work for too. Than captains will decide where they'll use it

E, do you want me to go back to posted book and see if it fits any of the classes task and add that one too?

That's probably left over from testing the sheets.

Yes, please! :-)

I'm going to do the same with my book as well.

Waiting for an official post about classes to post details here in the thread - I'm assuming there will be a post somewhere.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments And two turquoise book covers haha! Does TinEye say turquoise? XD

And I thought the yellow covers for UNO tasks were challenging! ;)

Actually, I'm currently reading a yellow cover so one of those is already taken care of: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

LaurLa | 2378 comments That's yellow? Looks orange to me O.O

message 160: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
I know o.O The image on Goodreads looks so orange! But it is actually yellow in real life! I'm reading my dad's old physical copy. I ran it through tineye very quickly and that said yellow as well, though of course, tineye needs to be taken with a pinch of salt :-p

message 161: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 2378 comments HA! That is true!

message 162: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 2378 comments TEAM: when posting the letters your book fits, please include how the letter works. In the spreadsheet, we have to give a reason and while I can figure out title/author/series, I hate to admit I don't know all the characters in all the books in the land!

*gasp*

LaurLa, you don't know all the characters?? Shame on you.... ;-))

Yes, it's my shame. I have tried to read all the books and memorize their characters but, alas, by body fails me and I must sleep sometimes. Plus, you know, if they're not a romance, why bother ;-)

message 165: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
Hahahaha :-))

Though you know, sleep is totally overrated ;-)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments If TinEye says it's yellow, then it must be yellow!

I'm excited for the turquoise book though! (Turquoise sounds so exotic, I love how it sounds.)

Annalisa | 1573 comments Quick question, what about abridged audiobooks?

I normally go for the unabridged version but sometimes (Stephanie Plum novels) I prefer the abridged version.

Annalisa wrote: "Quick question, what about abridged audiobooks?

Unabridged is usually better since that is the complete book. But I guess as long as the abridged version is longer than 3 hours, so basically over the page limit, you should be good to use those, too.

message 170: by Annalisa (last edited May 13, 2018 08:19AM) (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments I don't think abridged audiobooks will be an issue. I will just avoid them when I can. There are some of the audiobooks I can find unabridged.

I've looked at the spreadsheet and I'm going to be a tinny tinny bit confused by the classes. Transfiguration I'm not sure what exactly we need. Or the Collect Equipment. Does the item need to be on the cover?

Depending on how this needs to be found. The book I finished yesterday A Hope Divided could cover many things. MC is a healer during civil war, also sort of has prophetic dreams.

message 171: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
Nobody really knows quite what to expect of the classes yet as there has been no official information on them yet. We'll see in the days to come, I'm sure ;-) (Most of what we've added to our completion posts so far is based on guess work hehe.)

I think for Transfiguration, the items are supposed to be on the cover though.
The prophetic dreams would definitely come in handy for one of the classes though, so it's good you've already marked that down in your completion post! :-)

As soon as more information is available, LaurLa or I will give you a shout. I'm curious myself to see what exactly Sonia has cooked up for them!

message 172: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments Glad I'm not the only one that isn't quite sure what all of the classes mean. I thought maybe I was just missing something.

No, as previously mentioned, we're posting the completion posts in this thread.

The link is saved in the important links on the first page of the thread, so you can easily find it whenever you need to post a completion post.

There's a tab on the team spreadsheet reserved for the classes. That's where you'll find, somewhere down the sheet, a list of cover colours we're going to have to read.

So far all info on classes is unofficial, but the cover colours seem like a safe bet if you'd like to read for one of those already?

Official information on classes and how/what to read for them should be posted in the coming days but getting a head-start on the things we do know can't hurt :-)

Daniel Sepúlveda | 5 comments Hello!
I'm Daniel. Sorry for being late, I've been busy these days.
This is the link of my TT Shelf: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
I'm reading The Bat (Harry Hole, #1) by Jo Nesbø and listening the Audiobook of 'Salem's Lot by Stephen King

I hope all of you are enjoying the Challenge!

Glad you found your way here, Daniel!
Thanks for the link - all you need to know about tower teams, or what you need to read up on, you'll find on the first page of the team thread in the post with the billion links.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to use [book:The Bat|17345209] for this challenge as only books started AFTER May 12th count towards Tower Teams.

If you have any questions, give us a shout! :-)

do not read the last chapter in public! the afterword by his wife!
There will be tears. Probably snotty ones.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I lovw that book Annalosa, one of my faves. And I agree with Cat (though rhe tears started way before the afterword). Enjoy your current read!

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Im sorry for the million typos, Im on my phone! *always blaming tje phone*

message 187: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments All my typos are because of the phone. I also enjoy blaming autocorrect. Sometimes I wonder where it came up with the word it comes up.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I installed a Japanese keyboard on my phone and switched just yesterday. It's making things challening haha!

message 189: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments I'm going to start a collection of stories that has a very green cover Flashes of War by Katey Schultz . 86.2% Chalet Green (Green) according to the wonderful TinEye. For once I agree with the color it picked. It is on the shorter side at 200 pages but that is over the 100 min.

Also have the audiobook for Men Without Women by Haruki Murakami which is 52.8% Kournikova (Yellow). I'll start that as soon as I finish When Breath Becomes Air. I think there are three yellow books.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Oh, good! We just have one yellow book left. I've been wary of yellow since UNO!

Someone's asking if anybody's interested for a The Way of Kings BR in the BR request thread. I almost jumped in and say ME!

I have Monte Cristo on my plate already! Haha. Other than that I have Jonathan Strange (another chunkster) and I don't want to commit yet as I'm a very, very moody reader (how I end up reading more than 2 books at once). I have committed to 9 BRs and I don't know how much more structure I can take!

message 194: by kat (wanderfulbooks) (last edited May 15, 2018 01:28AM) (new)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I can't say I wasn't tempted though. I've been meaning to start that series for forever and this is a good time as any to do it! That would be 130 points + 30! And I finally knock it off the TBR shelf!

I still wanted Brandon Sanderson to write the sequel to Warbreaker before he continue his Stormlight Archive series... but oh well.

message 195: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
9? Wow, yes, that is quite a bit hehe.

I'm not usually one for this much structure either, which is why I often have trouble fitting in BOMS even though they're interesting and I want to read them. It's just when it comes down to having to read them, sort of, something in me often goes "nope!". (And then there's of course the whole challenge issue that doesn't always help with keeping a timeline of when to read what book ;-))

message 196: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
So what ARE all those 9 BRs?

Wuthering Heights
Monte Cristo
Wizard of Earthsea
.....?

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Wuthering Heights
Count of Monte Cristo
The Bird and Stone
Court of Mist and Fury
Jonathan Strange
Jellicoe Road
Astonishing Color of After
Wizard of Earthsea
Circe

I hope I can stick to this BR !
