Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments Kathleen, How To Marry A Werewolf was really good! Debating whether to give it 4 or 5 stars because the 1st part was just ok but then once I got into it, really enjoyed the story. I really liked the MCs (despite her horrible parents & his grumpy attitude) & the romance was really sweet. The steampunk aspect was very small, which worked in my favor since I'm not a huge fan of steampunk but do love historical romances. This was the 1st book by Gail Carriger that I've read so makes me want to read more!

Sorry can't stick around to chat but it's 3am so I gotta get some sleep!

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I have read her Parasol Protectorate series and I quite liked it. Have a good night Cathy!

message 1909: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
The steampunk element also wasn't overly present in the Parasol Protectorate either. At least for the most part. I still haven't read the last book in that series actually. Will have to remedy that but I'm not sure I want to read the other one.

Have you read the second series, Kathleen?

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments The spinoff? Not yet actually 😊 Have them here, habe yet to crack em open #storyofourlives

Sanah Shabbir (szs_30) Can I take HP #7 4.4-Read a book where the characters are under siege? I believe Now I Rise (And I Darken #2) should work for that.
I also have Piper Perish on my TBR, would that work for a white cover for HP#6 Task 5.1 or does the cover have to be completely white?

Yes! That one will work for siege.

As for the white cover, it doesn't have to be completely white but the colourful title on that book is quite big and very distracting. First thought isn't white when I see that one. :-/

message 1914: by Sanah (new)

Sanah Shabbir (szs_30) @Sunshine if you haven't already read a book for this, could I put in My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry when I finish it for HP #5 4.2-Read a book where someone dies? I should have it done by tomorrow

message 1915: by Em (new)

Em (emmolga) for task #5 - 5.1 Read a book with a seer/fortune teller character, does it count if the character claims to be a seer, when he actually isn't? (i'm thinking Shawn Spencer from the Psych series)

message 1916: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
Unfortunately, no. It should be an actual seer or fortune teller.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I have upcoming 2-day holiday next week. I am soooo looking forward to it! Quidditch was fun but I can't wait to go back to reading like a normal person! I can't believe you've been doing this three times now Tea.

message 1918: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments Only 2. I skipped first match since I knew it's going to be crazy. To be honest, f we didn't need Europe timezone players, I'd probably stay away from rest of them too. :P

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Majority of the players are from Europe so... I guess it was inevitable for you to join the fray! It has been fun though. Now I know why all past players have been clamoring for sleep during Quidditch ;)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Will this work for white cover?

Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel

message 1921: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
Eeh... I'm not sure that's white enough..

message 1922: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments For the Silver task, does it count if the word is hyphenated? I know some challenges are really specific about variations so just wanted to be sure. Will be reading Silver-Tongued Devil.

message 1923: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments If that doesn't work, I have Silver Borne. I can read that after done with 'similar' covers

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Cathy, have you finished the Seven Realms? :D

message 1925: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments I kept putting it aside to do those maze books, then wanted to finish the others I had started before the weekend. But I'm now at 67% on the last book :) Should finish tomorrow.

Death to the Bayars! That's what I'm really waiting for...

message 1926: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments Oh, and it does work for under siege but I think someone else had something for that so I'll see if it works for something else.

Are you going to read the spinoff? What if the Bayars' death happens in the spinoff? ;)

message 1928: by Cathy M. (new)

message 1929: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments How are we doing on U for characters? I've seen a lot posted.

Also, I'm going to try reading 1Q84. I don't think it fits anything for TWT but i haven't read it yet to know for sure. I wonder how the title would work for either maze or spell-out. Maybe it just doesn't work.

message 1930: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments And how are we with other letters too?

message 1931: by Kavitha (new)

Kavitha Sivakumar | 179 comments I am reading a book Shadow of Death which has a blind seer. I initially took the book for "death" in the title. It is second in series. I will be reading both second and third which has this blind seer Lily as the main character. so, one for seer, and another for blind? maybe we can try to find some other book which has "death" in the title...

message 1932: by Kavitha (new)

Kavitha Sivakumar | 179 comments Hopefully, I will read three books that start with "U". Already finished two "U"s

message 1933: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments I think we may already have a book or two that fit death in the title task.

I think LaurLa is going to take some time this weekend to check up on characters. You'll get an update after that :-)

We do need a lot of Us though, so I'm pretty sure the ones we have so far aren't enough yet for all the characters!

Aahh, seer, yes, that'll come in handy. Blind as well!

We'll use another book for "Death" then, no worries - those are easy enough to do since a few of us are reading the In Death series.

Or maybe we'll use yours as well - who knows? There's two tasks with "death" in title, so only one of them has been filled so far.

message 1936: by Kavitha (new)

Kavitha Sivakumar | 179 comments Why is the characters worksheet not filled like the other tasks? Is there some reason?

message 1937: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
LaurLa is working on the characters on a different sheet in case things need to be switched around.

She'll fill it in once she's certain that books haven't been stolen by me to go towards tasks ;-)

Once she does the update and uses up all our unused books it will fill up pretty quickly!

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
How is everyone doing on the tasks they have claimed already?

I noticed that sometimes there are other books incoming but not necessarily the ones that have been claimed.

Please do not forget to read those, or if you can't read for them or for some reason you don't want to read for those tasks anymore, let us know so that someone else from the team can pick up those tasks instead. (You never know with reading moods after all hehe.)

Thanks guys!

Can you not read for Quidditch and TWT at the same time?! No dedication... honestly... :-p

message 1943: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 2378 comments Okay my friends.... It's not easy being green. A green snake that is... but I have been sneakily, snakily working on filling the letters!

As of SUNDAY (8.12) we still needed 9 Us and 8 Es in the vowel department. I haven't had a chance to work on them since then but did set aside time this evening to work on it, so I can tell you better tomorrow how those 2 letters are doing.

Filling in the rest of the letters will be easier once we've got all those pesky vowels taken care of!

We're good on Q and X, believe it or not!!

Could you do me a favor and include the author name with your completion posts? It helps so that I don't have to open the book to check that :-)
