Annalisa | 1573 comments There were multiple tasks that my book fit so it got placed on a more difficult one to fill. There are also 2 places that require a sword on the cover.

she gave it to you in the SS which is why i wanted to make sure there wasn't confusion.

ETA: or not.... we'll let her decide what's what and where she wants to use the books.

There are two tasks with sword on the cover.

Kavitha read for one of them. LaurLa, I kept you on the second one because you mentioned that you wanted to read a KD book for it. If however you'd like to use that for the couple task (very fitting!!), I'm sure another sword will pop up soon - Kavitha might actually be reading the next KD book.

Yes, Annalisa's sword book was indeed used for a different, more difficult to fill task. (Too good to pass up some of these opportunities when books fit multiple tasks ;-))

It's all coming along quite nicely!

Oh gosh... now I've definitely committed to it for the month. No getting out of it now!

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments E, if someone has read a book that fits 5-word title, you can go ahead and fill it up. Astonishing Color fits several other tasks anyway :)

Also, can I please claim book with a dragon?

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Cathy, glad you're enjoying the Seven Realms! Are you considering reading the spinoff?

message 1866: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments I'm loving it but some parts have been annoying the crap out of me! Like when Reid & Elena don't believe Han really saved Raisa, and pretty much any scene with the Bayars. They need to die...

I read the summary of the 1st one & I'm really scared to read the spinoff! I only have 1 more book to go & know it will end with a HEA, but knowing how much I'm loving this world, may have to. Have you read it yet?

I swore off the spin off!!!! I can't give you the reason withot giving you spoilers but I made myself contented with The Crimson Crown so I'm good now.

Have you read Megan Whalen Turner?

message 1868: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments I completely understand! Just from the small bit I read in the blurb, doesn't sound like the HEA lasts all that long. Well 20 years but still. Almost like Iron Gold which I've been hesitant to read.

Doesn't look like I've read anything by her. Good? Similar?

message 1869: by kat (wanderfulbooks) (last edited Aug 07, 2018 10:12PM) (new)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments You NEED to read her series. First book is The Thief. The series is just so good. One of my favorite series!

Have you read the Lumatere Chronicles by Melina Marchetta?

message 1870: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments Havent read that either, but I didn't care too much about On the Jellicoe Road so didnt look at any of her other reads. Also dont think I've read too many YA series in the last couple years so I've probably missed out on a lot! Just now reading Throne of Glass.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Her Lumatere Chronicles is well plotted and well written. The first book is the good but it is the weakest in the series. I recommend The Thief first then Lumatere Chronicles. They're some of the YA fantasy books that I think deserves more of the hype that some YA books are getting. ;)

message 1872: by Cathy M. (new)

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments Added them both, thanks for the recommendations :) Will check it out after Throne of Glass!

Sure thing!

No matter which one?
For Annalisa and Em, it doesn't really matter because their books fit for all of those tasks.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Lol I guess it doesn't matter too. I just wanted to claim any dragon task before they run out!

In case you need, for the Box:

Book 1: Crown of Midnight
Book 2: Cross My Heart
Book 3: Kathleen's book Thick as Thieves
Book 4: Kathleen's book These Shallow Graves (or other T-S book)

Kathleen, i love it! he set the narrative into a very steady running pace and it's a different kind of soothing. makes me wonder if i should see if it has an audio version or not. i never venture into audiobooks but i think i won't mind trying for this one :)

also i didn't expect the book to be so motivational for me, hah.

Hm, I haven't thought of trying the audiobook but now that you've mentioned it might as well check it out. I wonder how it would feel listening to it while jogging/running?

I loved the pacing of the book, it follows how one's thoughts stray from one life concern to another. And yes, I found it highly motivational!!!

i wonder about that as well! i was a bit jittery during my morning commute because i kept feeling like taking off into a run while i read this hahaha

i love how it's motivational in a way that isn't boisterous and judging. Murakami only stated that this is how he felt about running and life in general, and i found myself not only agreeing, but also encouraged to try expanding myself, without him even using any encouragement words whatsoever. it's certainly not something i expect from a memoir (though i haven't read all that many yet)

They aren't similar enough. I mean, they bring across a similar idea, namely woman with a sword and a lion but the positions are always different.

Let me think about an example.

message 1894: by Natasha (new)

message 1895: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
Let me amend that statement.

KD #4 and #5 could potentially work for similar covers because everything is similarly positioned on those two:

Magic Bleeds (Kate Daniels, #4) by Ilona Andrews Magic Slays (Kate Daniels, #5) by Ilona Andrews

This list could be some inspiration for extremely similar covers, if not to say the same ones.

A series (at least the first three books) would be: Silver Hollows

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments I need to read for another challenge Worth It All (The McKinney Brothers, #3) by Claudia Connor
and then I also have this one Guys on Top (Guys, #1) by Darien Cox

(I probably wouldn't even notice if books weren't next to each other on my reader when sorted alphabetically)

Think those would work? *grins*
